OG VIDEO: • TONES AND I - 'Dance M...
ABOUT…
I am Rebecca and I am one heck of a passionate vocal coach/singer/songwriter/impressionist/health/fitness/self- improvement/anything that makes me smile!! I love anything vocal/singing related and geek out on it every day. I want to motivate and inspire others to follow their dreams…corny? Well maybe but it’s true. So what’s motivating me?? I had a huge tumour removed summer 2017 and my ovaries and fallopian tubes. The tumour was the size of a 20 week baby!! However, despite not being able to walk for a couple of weeks, and feeling generally awful…. It has made me create and do what I love! It wasn’t an easy time but I won’t let fear dictate my life. I didn’t think ‘why me’, there are plenty of horrific issues people have to deal with…it’s not always smooth sailing. It’s true when you hear, ‘Life is short’, the crazy thing is, I am glad it happened…I appreciate life even more and practice gratitude everyday…It’s so easy to get caught up with the little things…and I do sometimes, but look at the bigger picture, will it matter in a year or two…?
Also thank you for all your support. It means a lot.

Have a great day!!

    I heard the song earlier today on the way to work.. honestly thought it was catchy.. probably wouldn't listen to it myself, given a choice.. But on this video, as soon as she started singing I recognized it. If anything she's a master at "selling" her song.. if not her, then her agent/s, either way it definitely is catching ears.

    She was homeless living in her car and working at a clothing store which had buskers in front. she really wanted to busk and sing. So since she lived in Australia you have to audition to get a license to busk. She got the license a year later after she auditioned and applied, so she quit her job and would put out something for the money the passerby's would give her and play keyboard and sing. One night some drunk stole all her money and took off, then another drunk tried to play her keyboard. She decided to pack up and leave, but there was a drunken crowd surrounding he who would not let her go and were booing her to make her continue to play and sing. Out of her frustration from that night she wrote this song. Really it is "sing monkey" but she did not want to make it personal, so she changed it to "dance monkey". Note the part where she says "dance for me" several times which is the crowd forcing her to sing, but then said "when you are done i will make you do it all again" which is what they did.

    All pop musicians are autotuned, almost every production uses it to some degree to make sure the song is perfect for the recording. It doesn't make someone who can't sing able to sing, most noticeable uses of it are intentional. T-Pain for example can sing, and has shown this live on stream from twitch. It's pitch correction, that's all, check out RoomieOfficial and his explaination of what autotune is and isn't.

It was true delight to hear your experience with this song.

    Very much agree with you. I was blown away the first time i heard her. I grew a bit tired of it though... Until i saw her live.. Her talent is amazing, when i heard it first, i was not sure of her consistancy. Singing like that, 6 shows a week is hard on your vocal. But her techniques are amazing. Just that little thing where she changes "time" to "dime" to give the vocal more power... amazing really!

Such a crazy, unique soulful tone that hits you. Absolute talent. • @noucement

    @noucement

    5 ай бұрын

    Metalhead here too, but I can appreciate anyone who is willing to do something outside of the box, this is definitely one of such songs. She plays her vocal cords like a guitar, like she wants to put as many ways to sing in the song, but it's not forced, it's not a show off, it feels natural, the song has its flow and it fits together nicely. And while being quite simple text-wise or musically, the singing is what makes it stand out of the crowd. It's frankly quite challenging to stand out today. Not many singers today are unique, and frankly many of them can't even sing without stuff as autotune etc. So I'm thankful for this. Also I admire her for the performance. She's a big girl, using so much air to sing and jumps around like a monkey during the show, I'd spit my lungs out in first minute doing all that. It's amazing to see an author that give so much energy to the audience, after all, they did not came to hear a song, they came for an experience.
