The sing basically pokes fun at how Greece stereotypically presents itself in order to appeal to tourists (i.e. The intro that references old airline ads) and then Marina breaks the immersion and takes you on tour on modern chaotic Athens and modern Greek music. Although you are a great professional, you are a bit conservative in terms of what is going musically out of the English speaking countries. Not all the music has to follow those rules, specially folk music from cultures you don't understand that well. This is Greek folk mixed with urban sounds.

She has to do it due to the copyright. However, what I noticed compared to all the other eurovision songs she reacted, this was the only one she didn't talked about the vocals or the music or even checked the lyrics. She only focused on the video the whole time, then said doesn't look like a winner and ended the video. The whole thing was rushed and felt as if she either didn't had the time to do it and just did the video only because it was requested a few times or because she just wasn't interested in the entry at all.

Marina's a well trained vocalist a songwritter and great dancer and exists in this field for over a decade.She also has a fab group of fine vocalists called 'Fones"('Voices") and a team of great musicians who work with her.I got aware of her about 6-7 years ago when she blasted with her huge hit "Mantissa"('Fortuteller").She's a very peculiar artist and great person.

Before people start hating i just wanna say ​​not everyone is gonna know Greek culture and also understand everything in 1 reaction.. this song and video is unique and unusual. this type of music is not for everyone. personally it grew on me, i hated it and now it's my top 10, it takes time.

I’m from Sweden and this is one of my favorites. This is one kind of chaotic good. It’s over the top in every way possible but still professional enough so that it doesn’t become ridiculous. It gets catchier with ever listen.

Out of everything I could have expected from this reaction, the last thing I would expect was to hear that the beginning with the piano was "unusual"

No it's not really. It's a song contest, you don't have to send anything traditional. If anything, most popular songs from ESC and most winners don't have anything traditional in them

Haha I was so sure you won't get it. I mean it was so obvious based on your taste and I respect it. It's one of the most interesting and creative songs this year that doesn't click from the 1st listen immediately but after some listens the hook is stuck in your brain for days. TA TA TA. I don't think it's bad when something is confusing at the start and not cliche. That means it has a deeper meaning and it's more well thought. Give it another try!

Please check the unplugged version aswell. I'm sure you will like that one more then the video. The video just showed the stereotypical things tourists think and know about Greece while she is showing the new modern greece through the song. In the beginning you hear the instrument Bouzuki which is a traditional greek instrument while the one the guy in the video is playing during the mens dance is called Zournas and its a greek and balkan music instrument that is mostly used in folk greek music. Her singing in the beginning is a type of singing called moiroloi and the rhythm is called Syrtos. She mixed the old traditional greece with the new urban modern greece from today with this song doing it her way (like in the lyrics "I'm gonna do it my way"), instead of going the stereotypical route people think greece is going or has to go. She is a awesome talent (you can btw find her singing opera 14 years ago on youtube) that graduated from berkley music institute, a soprano, songwriter, actress, producer that can also dance really well.

Its one of those songs that I cant get enough of! Its the beat and the bass of the music that I really get and the vocals are amazing too (and live). You may have to listen to this twice but I loved it on the first go. This kind of ethnic style music like Armenias entry (which you havent seen yet) really has my heart.

Did you just woke up our something? The video starts at the airport, she is having a Eurovision tour sign and showing different places from Greece and you got it only after 2 minutes in the video? Georgina you need to update your music. You arecto to traditional rules of how songs are made,(low notes at the beginning, high in the middle etc.) Get updated love!

Greece has been called a crossroad from East to West..and there is so much influence of East and West throughout greek music. Satti has been a true Greek as an artist..and she has been putting on display the traditional and the urban sounds of Greece. Hands down the most charismatic artist of Greece. Fashion wise..she's also the most fresh and authentic..being herself..she stands out..cause she is a real 🌟 I don't care if she wins Eurovision for Greece. Tourists visit Greece, thinking they'll come across all the stereotypes they've seen in movies or the way they perceived Greece to be like. In the music video, Marina wants to show to Europe, that Greece is more than what meets the eye. There's the urban life too and Greece's political and economic situation is unpredictable, like everything that's going on in the video. Zari, means dice. The lyrics have a double meaning. It's seemingly about an unfortunate on and off romantic situation, but it can also be perceived as Marina's sadness and frustration about Greece, a country she loves but is causing her uncertainty. She chooses to leave things to luck (like throwing a dice) because she can't stop loving her country regardless of the issues

the song Is super as well as the video. The video is portraying the urban lifestyle of Athens as well as the stereotypes that Greece is known for. Marina through all of her videos wants to show that Greece is not only about the stereotypes but it has much more to offer. It has also a comedic aspect about it all in the sense of exaggeration. My arguement here is that you didn't really listen to the song but rather focused in the video so you didn't have the chance to see all the aspects. Marina is half greek and half from Sudan so her music combines traditional greek elements with Arab music and balkan music all in a pop, fun and fresh way.

Marina is a coloratura soprano, composer and actress!

For balkans, this is not unusual at all. The song does not have random things thrown at it, well at least in my ear it sounds like literal balkan music. (Albanian here) I think this is like Blanca Paloma's Eaea from last year, for the locals it sounds great, but for international fans it just feels weird. I still think its gonna do way better than her though bc its way more catchy

I have to admit that I loved your reactions 😅😅❤ The first time I listened to the song I was like “what’s this?!?!?” But at the end of the day, finally Greece is sending something that will be discussed a lot and no matter what the final position will be, in my opinion is one of the best songs of the last years… different, messed up, combination of so many different sounds.. good job!!

As a Greek I can say that in the first listen all Greeks found it weird but after some listens you get used to it and you like it. It also cant get boring because every time that you listen to it, you just discover something. The problem is that many people will listen/watch it only one/two times and maybe this song will not get appreciated since you need more listens to "digest" it

I am a vocal teacher too , I think you didn’t hear all the song one way you were focus on the videoclip and not to the song , I disagree about “miss mached” music, is extremely complex music so you probably need more lessons or retraining we have 2024 this is a traditional vibe Greek song and at the same time global you need to study more about other styles of music 😅

This is going to be a winner for Greece 🇬🇷 Marina Satti is a soprano, and she’s blending in her musical styles in one song which is very different than all the other Eurovision entries. This is the future of music and it brings together all kinds of amazing music into one. You should should see the unplugged version it’s so beautiful. Marina is half Greek and half Sudan so she has an amazing mix of music taste. So many reaction videos absolutely love this. Sweetie you have to hear this will an open mind, and check out Marina’s other music you will love her voice and style! By the way the unplugged version only came out a couple of days ago, and Marina is in morning as her father passed away last week so for a performance of the unplugged version to sound so fanatic especially when Marina’s Papa has gone so soon she is a legend of an artist. Greece is both East and West, with Balkan and Arab influences, living in the present and looking back at the past (Ancient Greece). All this is represented in the music(mix of styles, rhythms etc.). The lyrics are about dealing with hardship of the past and leaving things to chance (for the future) hoping for the best. The video is all about tourist expectations (stereotypes) of the country & its people and the reality of the people living in Athens. As you are mostly listening to mainstream music it was no surprise this was a bit too much for a first reaction. I know you mean well, take your chances again with the unplugged version of the song and bear in mind that in friend/family gatherings we tend to listen (and dance) to a large variety of song styles from folk to pop/rock even electronic all mixed together

To be honest i also didn't like the song so much at first and i am Greek , what is troubling me is that you are a vocal coach but i mainly heard comments about the video , the way it was edited and some comments about the music itself . I think you should give this song one more listen and try to be constructive with the vocals , and it's exactly because when i first heard the song i was also confused about the vocals that i wanted to hear an opinion from someone who is a proffesional on this area. I totally understand why you don't get Marina's video, I had the same reaction when I first saw it too. Don't worry! Marina incorporate's our Greek traditional music with modern sounds and so far she has created terrific songs! She uses a lot of folk elements on her videos and performances as well. She's so popular in Greece, I hope Europe will welcome her performance too!
