Vocal Coach REACTS - Rammstein 'Ich Tu Dir Weh' (LIVE)

Rammstein is a German Neue Deutsche Härte band formed in Berlin in 1994. The band's lineup-consisting of lead vocalist Till Lindemann, lead guitarist Richard Kruspe, rhythm guitarist Paul Landers, bassist Oliver Riedel, drummer Christoph Schneider, and keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz-has remained unchanged throughout their history. Their approach to songwriting has also remained unchanged, with Lindemann writing and singing the lyrics over instrumental pieces that the rest of the band have completed beforehand.
Vocal Coach REACTS - Rammstein 'Ich Tu Dir Weh' (LIVE) has been created in the hope that you may learn how to harness your own performance abilities and be able to make smart, informed choices on stage that enhance your performance.

About the stage fright: they started using pyro because Till thought it would make people look more at the fire rather than him.
Rammstein - Mein Herz brennt at Download Festival UK 2016
Unfortunately, in the metal musician community this band is incredibly underrated. I've always loved them, but I've always loved industrial music like this and Nine Inch Nails. Till's voice is awesome, and Rammstein's performances are a spectacle to behold. There is a reason this band band can sell out stadiums in a country that can't understand the lyrics. They are showmen. Not just musicians on a stage. I wish more bands made attempts at this.

For someone who suffers with stage fright Till is a great frontman, his interaction with the crowd is (in my opinion) on a level with Freddie Mercury. He is apparently quite a shy and quiet man off stage, so it does look like he has an onstage "character". And I believe the band started the pyrotechnics partly to take some of the attention away from Till.

If you really want to appreciate Till's voice (and btw how good of a piano player Flake is!) is suggest this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/oX17k7Kpj9SoqqQ.html It is a pro-shot of a festival concert, but not so "over-engineered" as many of the official concert video. Very raw, no playback.

Bathtub person. Sounds like a character from Rick & Morty. Like bird person.
Till started out as a drummer, which is where the percussive and rhythmic qualities in his vocals come from.
The pyrotechnics are also a big factor in helping Till work through his stage fright. He doesn’t like to be looked at, excluding when interacting with specific audience members. He usually focuses on the mixing desk or in the far back of the venue, but the pyro effects also take away some of the attention on him ^.^

@@NoShadowsHere the closest comparison i can draw here is shakespeare-esque formal english. a lot of tills lyrics are written in an abstract and outdated way, so even in formal writing barely anyone would use that language. his pronounciation reflects just that! youll find that a lot of german artists who did music during the peak of romanticism (18th century) will roll their r's and such! its an art thats almost entirely lost in current music, mainly because newer singers and lyricists simply dont have a point of reference for that kind of stuff

@rreinraus
3 жыл бұрын
@@NoShadowsHere no problem, im always happy to help! and yeah, ive honestly never seen a mainstream artist besides rammstein use that language so i see why you would have a rather hard time picking up the difference. it also doesnt apply for each song of theirs, usually, its a stylistic choice and till will switch from casual german to this more formal way of speaking depending on the song, the harsher vocals often stick, though. tracks like "ich tu dir weh" and "ausländer" use normal german while "donaukinder" or "mutter" have way more poetic lyrics, for example.

About the rolling the R: I am Franconian (southern Germany) and I always roll my R. It's close to impossible for me not to. I can pronounce an English R no problem. But I can't do a "proper" German R.
It's just amazing to see that ALL music lovers can love Rammstein. The huge lungs of a former elite swimmer like Till can hold lots of air I guess. //C-🇸🇪
What you said about his stage anxiety, it’s not only the “other” personality that helps him, but especially the fact that he knows that not everybody is looking at him because of all the other effects that are happening
I clicked for Rammstein, I subbed because you actually made the effort to pronounce "ich tu dir weh" correctly, unlike all other reaction channels lol
Rammstein does great theater! I love how the "fire" transforms Flake's drab, carbon black attire into glittering gems. What is a very dark story, lyrically, ends with uncommon beauty.

Till is a showman and always gives an awesome performance every time. Everyone who has been to a Rammstein show says it’s an amazing show.
What I really like about this band, that they sing in own language and in concert everyone follows it!
Till's stage fright makes me like him so much more - and I'm sure I'm not the only one. The fact that he struggles with performing and yet performs so much and so well makes him a hero in my eyes.
Rammstein was one of my favorite bands during my teenage years. I still love their songs. "Du riechst so gut" (you smell so good) "Mein Teil" (my part) "Benzin" (gasoline) "Du hast" (you have) "Ohne dich" (without you) "Sonne" (sun) Just a few great songs of them. Greetings from Germany 👋🏻
Normally I hate when a "proper" person thinks that they can analyze something that is so much more than just vocals, but you actually seem to get it. Lovely!
I met Till Lindemann in store in Berlin where i worked. Got a Autograph. He's a big and a shy person. He never watch(ed) the audience. He focus mostly on a point at the back of the hall he said in a interview. If you ever have the chance to visit their concerts 2021 or 2022 go there. The Energy and power at a Rammstein concert is unique. I visited many concerts in my life. But Rammstein concerts are very impressive. Their shows are very theatrical. To know how popular the Band became you have to know, that 2018 when the ticket offices start to opend online, all their over 60 concerts they play(ed) worldwide were sold out under 1 hour!
"German is a percussive language" That's interesting for me as someone learning the language. You seem like an intelligent and cultured guy so I will add that if you want to understand Till more-as he writes the lyrics- he's a published poet and his father wrote children's books in East Germany. The band emerged from the punk scene there in the 80s. Till is influenced a lot by the greats of German literature and poetry like Brecht and Goethe who are his heroes, and Heinrich Heine. Please react to 'Mein Hertz brennt' instrumental next! it really shows off Till's vocal range.

I can assure you that a LOT of huge (and small) bands lead singers suffer from stage fright. The moment we (I'm a singer in two amateur bands) no longer are nervous, is the time we should stop performing. I've been doing it for over 28 years and I still am nervous until the first song is behind me. It's the anticipation more than stage fright Till is a perfectionist. And they use a lot of Pyro techniques so a lot can go wrong. I LOVE Rammstein 💘

I see your face in the mirror You love me because I don't love you I hurt you I'm not sorry It's good for you Hear how it screams
Rammstein. Hailing from former East Germany, named after Ramstein (one 'm') where a fighter jet crashed into the onlookers during an airshow. Dubbed Industrial Metal but according to Till Lindemann (singer) they make 'tanzmetal' (dance metal). Rammstein is often looked at with suspicion because the sound of marching boots and Germans still makes certain people uncomfortable. That and the fact they broach subjects that are considered touchy or even taboo. I like 'em.
This brings back memories of seeing them live. It was beyond any concert I’ve ever been to (and here in LA, I’ve been lucky enough to see every band I’ve wanted to). What you can’t see is the HEAT coming off the stage. They call the front the Fire Zone because you’ll feel those fireworks, especially indoors. They were supposed to come here to The Coliseum in September, but cancelled due to COVID. The biggest disappointment of the year. Hoping in 2021. Somebody probably already mentioned that Til was an Olympic swimmer (lung capacity) and a Pyrotechnic. Amazing!!!!

A real kicker for tils voice is a song called puppe from their most recent album has a real deep tone to it
What most people don't know is the SOUND is LOUD AND GOOD. Much loader than I anticipated. Just WALL of sound.
I love rammstein!! There coming back to the states 2021!! I already prepaid for two tickets!!! Best band of the 21st century!! Hands down! Great music, vocals, and the live shows... Wow.. no one out there can complete with that!!! But I was a fan in the 90's as a kid.. before most people even heard of them..
I absolutely love your exploration and open mindedness about music you may not traditionally listen to. The excitement and joy makes me really happy. Keep on exploring and doing what you do. Because a lot of us can use a happy moment nowadays. May I recommend some System of A Down? Serj Tankian (lead singer) has an incredible voice.
Look up . " Mutter". by Rammstein. It's a slower song. shows Till's voice well

Mutter may be Richard's best stage performance on guitar, too. That whole piece is beautifully creepy.
These reactions are amazing!! I hope you do some more for them, they have so many different things to offer!
I really love this reaction. That is what is supposed to happen when somebody is seeing a live show from Rammstein. I really got tears in my eyes because i want to see them so so so bad! And Till is amazing he is also a poet and wrote some books and stuff
it’s sung in German...German is a distorted sounding language as is. then along comes Till Lindemann and makes it his own. plus, a new(er) sub, couple videos ago. love what you’re doing, Mr Lavigne. keep it up!
Till: purs fire on Flake while singing about BDSM Ken: "WOW! YEAH!" I think you found your band ;D (greetings from another german)

The text-line "Ich seh im Spiegel dein Gesicht" ("I see your face in the mirror") is a hint, that the Lyrics could be about only one person and not two diffrent people... So BDSM is probably not the correct term.
You can see in his face that he is enjoying the lives so freaking much awesome video hope you do some more Rammstein reactions!!
I love RAMMSTEIN, and I love this react....I have lost count how many times I've watched this!!! Ken, YOU'RE THE BESTEST!!!!!
First of all really good analysis and breakdown of the vocals, If u wanna react to abother rammstein song i would recommend some of their old songs to make a comparison to their newer stuff (ich tu dir weh being one). I woulf recomend Heirate Mich and Du Riecht so gut. Keep up the great work

On the Platform he is strapped. Have a look at his right foot at 4:05 in the original Video. See the Hand behind his right Foot and the suspension at 4:07? He might be a Maniac but he isnt tired of life.

There is no cable because someone would have to come on and clip him to it. If his foot was held firm and he fell, it would rip his leg off. Use some common sense.

If you watch the version from Hellfest Till uses the same rig Paul did for 'Ramm4' however while Paul as strapped on Till doesn't bother

@@Djarra The Hellfest platforms are huge and have a cable at either corner. The debate is whether he used safety in this performance.
I've seen Rammstein in 2018 and I've felt fucking high the entire week afterward. They put on the best show I've ever seen
Yay!! Thank you for doing more Rammstein. This was a better foray into Till's vocal offerings than the last one. I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Thank you much for reacting. ;) Rammstein is unique in this profession. They clearly know how to turn the wheel and manage to fascinate people without ridiculous cheesiness. If you like, you can react to the official video "Deutschalnd" one or even the best produced Clip in music industry. In this song Rammstein rework German history, only in their own way. Or "Mutter"... or just choose what you find interesting. There is actually hardly to find a bad song or video on the official channel.
this is my favorite thing. I'm so desensitized to RAmmstein antics, and seeing your genuine, wholesome reaction plus the insight you give = made my week!
I like your enthusiasm while watching the video. It's just like a child before blowing out the candles on the birthday cake. 🤩
Great reaction ;-) I recommend "Mein Herz brennt" - official video or piano version, that's very impressive
Something about pausing right before the chorus bothers me. Christoph’s snare drum fill is clearly about to be succeeded by an epic moment and he pauses it. Nooooooo Lol.
The thing about Rammstein on stage is everything is for the show! I play keyboards in a Rammstein tribute and I always explain their shows to people as being "musical theatre's evil twin". Not because of the musical style, but because like in the biggest West End/Broadway shows, the band knows they're not selling a musical performance, but they're selling a spectacle - the combination of the music, the characters each member of the band plays, the set, the lighting, the fire. Not to say that they're style over substance, but after 30 years they're masters of marrying the two together in such a compelling way that they can sell out the Garden with a crowd who can all sing every word - in German! It's a bit like opera too in that respect, a good opera producer knows that not many people in the audience will speak French or Italian, but if you stage it well, people can still follow what's going on.
Bummed out, I have Rammstein tickets and shows have been pushed into 2021. Amazing band to see live
in the beginning till got chosen for looks to be frontman (not kidding) by nature he is a drummer. flake actually mains the trumpet in private but does the keyboard for the band. to fight his stagefright (till) he once told, he uses a landmark behind the audience so he never really looks directly at them.

You may not be kidding, but you are wrong. Richard heard him sing and decided to invite him to the new band he was creating. The rest is history.
If you are looking for another "special" german (and somewhat harder) band, I'd suggest Knorkator and their cover of Boney M.s "Ma baker" or one of their newest tracks like "Rette sich wer kann" or "Revolution" - I really like the mixture of different singingtechniques featured in some of their songs and their strange appearance on stage. Keep up the great work, cheers!
Tills' voice is so amazing and this chorus is so amazing! I love this song, and all of their others too of course!!!
Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Rammstein. Happy binge watching their videos.
Concerning Till's stage fright: He uses all that pyro stuff to disattract people from looking at himself by making them watch all the pyros
I get the feeling that the chorus here is playback, it just sounds too much like the studio version with none of his other vocal inflictions heard before or after.

No doubt, the chorus is playback. I am 100% sure. Some Rammstein fans have tried to argue that it can't be true because Till and Rammstein are the best, and that they are perfect. But let's be reasonable here. It's obviously hard for him to reach these high notes in a live setting. They have to fake it, if they want to do the song at all.
