Vocal Coach REACTS - Rammstein 'Ich Tu Dir Weh' (LIVE)

My latest reaction- Rammstein 'Ich Tu Dir Weh' live at Madison Square Garden - Till Lindemann shows off some of his upper range. Rammstein performs an amazing live show!
* For your own Singing evaluation & analysis, please go to:
www.wisio.com/KenLavigne
Rammstein is a German Neue Deutsche Härte band formed in Berlin in 1994. The band's lineup-consisting of lead vocalist Till Lindemann, lead guitarist Richard Kruspe, rhythm guitarist Paul Landers, bassist Oliver Riedel, drummer Christoph Schneider, and keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz-has remained unchanged throughout their history. Their approach to songwriting has also remained unchanged, with Lindemann writing and singing the lyrics over instrumental pieces that the rest of the band have completed beforehand.
Vocal Coach REACTS - Rammstein 'Ich Tu Dir Weh' (LIVE) has been created in the hope that you may learn how to harness your own performance abilities and be able to make smart, informed choices on stage that enhance your performance.

Unfortunately, in the metal musician community this band is incredibly underrated. I've always loved them, but I've always loved industrial music like this and Nine Inch Nails. Till's voice is awesome, and Rammstein's performances are a spectacle to behold. There is a reason this band band can sell out stadiums in a country that can't understand the lyrics. They are showmen. Not just musicians on a stage. I wish more bands made attempts at this.

For someone who suffers with stage fright Till is a great frontman, his interaction with the crowd is (in my opinion) on a level with Freddie Mercury. He is apparently quite a shy and quiet man off stage, so it does look like he has an onstage "character". And I believe the band started the pyrotechnics partly to take some of the attention away from Till.

The pyrotechnics are also a big factor in helping Till work through his stage fright. He doesn’t like to be looked at, excluding when interacting with specific audience members. The Energy and power at a Rammstein concert is unique. I visited many concerts in my life. But Rammstein concerts are very impressive. Their shows are very theatrical. The band emerged from the punk scene there in the 80s. Till is influenced a lot by the greats of German literature and poetry like Brecht and Goethe who are his heroes, and Heinrich Heine. The moment we (I'm a singer in two amateur bands) no longer are nervous, is the time we should stop performing. I've been doing it for over 28 years and I still am nervous until the first song is behind me. It's the anticipation more than stage fright Till is a perfectionist. FYI: Last Friday Rammstein's debut album "Herzeleid" had its 25th Anniversary, so it would be cool if you could check out some of their 90's concerts. For example the "Rammstein - Herzeleid & Seemann (Arena Berlin 1996) " Video from their official channel, if you want to see how much Till Lindemann's voice & singing ability has changed over the years, from Rammstein's early days to their more recent ones.

to add to your observation of the german language, Till speaks Bühnendeutsch (stage german) when he performs. this is a form of speech and articulation where mor emphasis is put on normally very light and soft konsonants and bringing out clear understandable words. thats why he rolls his R, his speech is very tacted etc.

Funny thing about this video - it is tradition, that in every concert Flake (the keyboarder) gets abused on stage by Till Another great example is "Mein Teil" live You're 100% right btw about Till ... off stage he is the nicest and kindest person on this planet ... but as soon as he enters the stage he becomes this larger than life character and completly goes mental....another great example is Alice Cooper Thanks for your videos Love from Dresden, Germany

Rammstein. Hailing from former East Germany, named after Ramstein (one 'm') where a fighter jet crashed into the onlookers during an airshow. Dubbed Industrial Metal but according to Till Lindemann (singer) they make 'tanzmetal' (dance metal). Rammstein is often looked at with suspicion because the sound of marching boots and Germans still makes certain people uncomfortable. That and the fact they broach subjects that are considered touchy or even taboo. I like 'em.

This brings back memories of seeing them live. It was beyond any concert I’ve ever been to (and here in LA, I’ve been lucky enough to see every band I’ve wanted to). What you can’t see is the HEAT coming off the stage. They call the front the Fire Zone because you’ll feel those fireworks, especially indoors. They were supposed to come here to The Coliseum in September, but cancelled due to COVID. The biggest disappointment of the year. Hoping in 2021. Somebody probably already mentioned that Til was an Olympic swimmer (lung capacity) and a Pyrotechnic. Amazing!!!!

The thing about Rammstein on stage is everything is for the show! I play keyboards in a Rammstein tribute and I always explain their shows to people as being "musical theatre's evil twin". Not because of the musical style, but because like in the biggest West End/Broadway shows, the band knows they're not selling a musical performance, but they're selling a spectacle - the combination of the music, the characters each member of the band plays, the set, the lighting, the fire. Not to say that they're style over substance, but after 30 years they're masters of marrying the two together in such a compelling way that they can sell out the Garden with a crowd who can all sing every word - in German! It's a bit like opera too in that respect, a good opera producer knows that not many people in the audience will speak French or Italian, but if you stage it well, people can still follow what's going on.

No doubt, the chorus is playback. I am 100% sure. Some Rammstein fans have tried to argue that it can't be true because Till and Rammstein are the best, and that they are perfect. But let's be reasonable here. It's obviously hard for him to reach these high notes in a live setting. They have to fake it, if they want to do the song at all.
