From Iowa, USA; Updated ... 1. An important thing to remember about AJ is that she refused to sign for a record deal through AGT and they relented and invited her to sing anyway. 2. AJ is currently signed with Republic Records. 3. She began singing at 18 months and due to her grandmothers influence, she was drawn to and fell in love with jazz and blues music. 4. She has been arranging most, if not all of her music performances since she was 8 years old. Hopefully this will remain as she continues her career with Republic. 5. Currently in 2022 she still performs barefoot and I hope by now that you have discovered the incredible reason why she does that. 6. AJ sews her own clothes, (the cloth is designed by her grandmother) and she stands 6 feet tall at 15 yeats old! 7. We all hope to enjoy her performances for many years to come. 8. BTW I'm 80 and have been involved privately in music since age 7.

This is probably late and no one would see this. But Angelina Jordan was born with a voice and capabilities that others would have to train and perform for 20 years to get there or even 30 who knows. She just knows it all, second nature for her. Which is mind blowing and extraordinary. Angelina Jordan in my opinion is the best voice the world has ever seen till date, and she will be a big name in the industry...

IMO, she is most special around 12 years of age. She churned out so many stunning performances around that time. Namely, covering Adele's Million Years Ago and Someone Like You, Lana del Ray's Born to Die and Young and Beautiful, Rihanna's Stay. Regarding Stay, Angelina really shows her masterclass level vibrato. This is her number one performance IMO. In fact in this performance you will hear her vibrato exactly the way you described and more. It;'s beautiful.

She is 9 here (or least it was posted when she was 9), and this is during a time period where she was sick, or just getting unsick, and you can hear the crack in her voice, the extra raspiness, and some pitch problems. But sick or not, when she agrees to perform, you can count on her to be there, especially for a charity function like this one. We all know what an incredible talent she is, but she is also someone who possesses the kind of character that we admire: kind, humble, generous, funny, and caring, while also focused, determined, and dedicated. She is a terrific role model for young and old alike. Thanks for another great reaction, Ken. 😊💕 P. S.: At 14, Angelina has just signed with Republic Records, one of the top companies in the recording industry (Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, and many other big names). The rocket has launched, and now she will be marketed to the world. Here comes Stardom!

The mystery that is Angelina Jordan - I think I've figured out at least part of it. She's learned music in the same way we all learn how to speak. Long befor we understand the words our parents use when they speak to us, we are fully capable of understanding the melody and the tone in their voice. As toddlers we are encouraged to try and even if we can't form the words properly we constantly get _"rewards"_ by those around us. It's thanks to her parents and other family members who at an early age realized that this girl wanted to sing and they never told her not to.

In her "I Will Always Love You" performance at 1½, I love how she tries to stop but her mother encourages her to go on, and that's when Angelina really starts to put her little heart into it. (And then what she does at the very end of the clip… I don't even know how to interpret that. :)

Yozhik Sorry to disagree. The explanation that I believes comes closest is that she is more directly connected to the collective unconscious than the rest of us "normal" folks. But I don't think we'll ever truly know. If we try to understand the sudden emergence of musical genius in the autistic savant, that might lead us closer to finding a reasonable explanation.

I knew you would appreciate this one from Angelina. You are so right that she never misses an opportunity to add character and color to a word or phrase. This song is an excellent example of it. If you dig a little there is a video of her rehearsing this song for another show. In the first run, the tempo is too fast and she is not pleased with pace of it. She turns to the band and gives some direction, and they come back on the second run with the tempo slowed... and wow, it gives her all the room she needs to weave a beautiful tapestry of sounds in the extra space. It's just one of the many examples of her artistry and skill....at 8 years old. Also (as others have said), it's a little hard to hear in this one, but she is recovering from a little cold here.

You are absolutely right !!!. Accelerating the music is lack of maturity of the musicians, or even ignorance !!!!!. They misrepresent, leaving the music like this without coloring their words !!. Stupid act !!. Speeding up music, perhaps to make it end soon, perhaps due to ignorance and functional and professional incapacity, totally deforming it, disrespecting the path of colors that words and phrases need to contain and thus differentiating it from the original. I've seen this stupidity in many songs by several famous artists, this is sad !!!!. Exterminate the quality of the music !!!!.

Hi Ken, I'm not sure, if I have written that to you (can't find my comment in the 460 comments on your first AG reaction ;-) ) ...so I send you my latest summery for AJ newbies (even if you reacted already to 3 covers from her) wellcome to the universe of Angelina Jordan and thanks a billion for this nice reaction to her - I'm sure to hear more reactions from you! ...because it is... ...too late! From now on you are assimilated in Angelinas entourage! Resistence is futil... Even if you won't believe it and if you are in denial about it: Only listen to one song sung by Angelina Jordan and you are hocked on listening her voice! May be you aren't aware of it yet... a legend says in rare cases there are humans who can resist.... but I can't believe it ;-) Every time it's a pleasure to watch people reacting to Angelina Jordan - especially when it is the first time - and I hope to see more of your reactions on Angelina Jordan... ;-) May be you wonder, what videos you should next react to ;-) ... There is a big pile of over 130 videos on youtube with Angelina Jordans rehearsals, covers and originals... She is born 10th Januar 2006, sung her first notes of a Whitney Houston song with 18 months (link see down), started researching the internet for Jazz 3 yo, entered Norske Talenter (Norwegian Got Talent) 7 yo and won it 8 yo, was on AGT The Champions (recorded Oct. 2019, aired Jan. 2020) where she didn't won - some rumours say because she/her mother didn't sign the contract with the enterprise of Simon Cowell for to stay independed - meanwhile she has signed with Republic Records (musicnorway.no/news/industry-talk-michael-astar/). "Above the water": kzread.info/dash/bejne/hXdnqJKbe67RY7g.html - interesting voice - even if this is not my prefered genre ;-) ... here her "mini concert" from AGT (Watch out: With these videos other reactors have the most problems with copyright claims...): "Bohemian Rhapsody": kzread.info/dash/bejne/aZuFzsyxlcS0pbA.html "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road": kzread.info/dash/bejne/gIqGubt-m5u6Y6Q.html “Someone You Loved": kzread.info/dash/bejne/YpujwbaCnZfQpKw.html And here is a video where it is explained (with english subtitles) why she performs barefoot: kzread.info/dash/bejne/c2GDra6snLKdZLw.html and here an Interview in the norwegian TV (with english subtitles) from 2015 after she has published her book about the story why she is barefoot when performing: kzread.info/dash/bejne/X5d3rqaSYKa5ips.html In addition to school she got also vocal training at the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program - and btw. she plays also grand piano, violin, flute and guitar, make her arrangements herself, wrote a book, sew clothes for herself (partly with art from her granma like in her first AGT performance and in her music video "Shield"). So she is a real multitalent and I think all her fans are eager to see and hear what she is doing next... And last but not least the newest (as far as I know) video of AJ singing in a rehearsal - uploaded August 10th 2020: kzread.info/dash/bejne/Zp6Jm6qhlpbHqdI.html All the other things like more recommendation, chronological playlists and so on you can read in the comments of the megafans like Fernando F., Rusty ... And a little Question: You reacted already to her live version of "I Put A Spell On You" in the German TV show Little Big Shots BUT... You realy should also watch her b/w studio version of this song -AND: When you react to her cover "I put a spell on you" b/w studio version at 9yo (kzread.info/dash/bejne/oKt6ztF8gLvgc9Y.html - btw. she made most of her cover arrangements by herself!) it would be nice to react in the same reaction video IN ADVANCE to the original from Screemin' Jay Hawkins (from 1956 - kzread.info/dash/bejne/aZ97ssqpptTaf8Y.html - that's real fun :-D ) - and than you will find out that Angelinas cover is a real tribute to Jay Hawkins :-D Thanks a billion again for your reaction! ...and see you soon with your next AJ reactions - with greetings from Berlin/Germany :-D Best regards Andreas

She was born with the sound and songs already in her. Most of us, including some celebrities, learn a song from the outside in. Angelina is opposite. She knows from inside herself what it should sound like. She gives birth to it. Lisa, a judge on NGT told her, “You are your music.” Angelina’s face lit up. She usually has small modest reactions to praise. I’m referring to “Gloomy Sunday.” She doesn’t always use an ending consonant.

I subscribed to your channel when you first reacted to Angelina but did not comment at that times. So I do so now.BEWARE! This is a long comment. I hope you have the patience to read to the end. Angelina re-arranges the majority of the songs she sings, both melody and lyrics, to more truly reflect how she feels the song should be sung. She does this with many of her cover songs. Her fans call it "Angelina-fying" a song. My introduction to Angelina was on her first appearance at Norway's Got Talent and I didn't expect much from a 7-year-old. Just a cute little girl, all nervous, rushing the song in parts, hesitating and then stumbling over or forgetting her words and generally acting her age and doing her best to get through a childish song like "Twinkle, twinkle little star". What did I see? Well, it was a seven-year-old child, with wild hair and gaps in her mouth, where there once were baby teeth. And that was when the perception of seeing a "normal" child ended and things turned upside down. She confidently answered the questions put to her by a Judge. Declared she was going to sing a song by the legendary Billie Holiday. Gestured off-stage for the technician to start the music and then started singing. The body of the 7-year-old was still there but the voice wasn't. Or was it? I was surprised then and that surprise is still with me, some six years later. I have followed her career since I saw that first video on KZread and in the six years she has been singing publicly she has mastered many musical genres, including Blues, Country, Disco, Jazz, Pop, R&B and Soul, EDM and Rock and covered songs first performed by many famous singers, like Adele, Whitney Houston, Nancy and Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Lana del Ray, Gloria Gaynor, Andy Williams, Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong and many others. What is more extraordinary is that she takes ownership of every song she sings while still paying respect to the original. She never goes into unnecessary theatrics. Never sings those high or low notes unless they are absolutely necessary. Never projects herself in any performance which says "look how good I am". She just sings the song as she feels it is meant to be sung. And I'll add an even more extraordinary item for you to consider, to show how unique she is. She has the innate ability not only to sing a song as emotionally as the song deserves but to be able to communicate those same emotions to the listener. As I have noted, I have been following her career a long time and have listened to every interview she has given and every documentary about her and every performance she has ever given. What stands out for me is how a very shy and humble girl in her normal life, can be transformed into the perfect vehicle for the song she has chosen to sing. Although the gift of singing and all her performances appear to be effortless, Angelina works very hard to ensure that the one she is going to record reflects what she sees as the correct way to meld both lyrics and melody. If you go to kzread.info/dron/hM_lpT4shdnsez93QMJPig.html you will find many rehearsals where, not only do you get to see her rehearsing but being the "ordinary" girl she is (if indeed one is able to apply that adjective to her). Most of her performances are recorded in her home studio, either with background music or a single guitar. Most are done in one take. She treats the whole thing as a hobby. As we would have said when I was young. "There is no 'side' to her" She is completely transparent to the world. Perhaps you would like to go back a few years and work forward. By doing so, you will come to the realisation that she is "unique" and I don't use that word loosely. There is truly no other singer who has her versatility and sheer ability to communicate the emotions of a song to her listeners. I doubt there is another singer who works so hard to ensure that, when she sings the song, it is sung in such a way that her listener becomes enmeshed in the emotions. Somehow I missed your reaction to Angelina singing "I put a spell on you" and you ask "How?" That performance was a modified version as she had been advised that singing as she did in the performance she gave at 9 years of age would injure her vocal chords. In the comments to that reaction you are asked to react to the performance of this song at the age of 9 and I suggest you do so. For fun you should listen to her (I believe 12 year old) performance of “I Would Rather Go Blind).

It's fun to try to "unravel the mystery" of her voice. So many professionals do that. As your heart and soul succumb to her you will eventually, and happily, admit defeat and just accept that the mystery will always be a an element of her charm. It feels great. BTW, speechlessness when witnessing an Angelina performance is actually a sure sign of humility, an endearing quality you obviously possess.

Since you are clearly a Sinatra fan, you must do a reaction to Angelina's performance of "Fly Me to the Moon" when she had been asked to open for Quincey Jones at his 85th birthday concert at the O2 arena in London. I like the rehearsal version where you can see her best. I listened to Sinatra perform this arrangement with the Basie band and as good as Sintra was, Angelina is better. I think that most of us would say that Rusty is the authority, but I would recommend her NGT performances of either of both Gloomy Sunday and or Summertime. Especially in some versions of Gloomy Sunday there is some video commentary on her before the performance that demonstrates her confidence and fearlessness even at age 7. And even at age 7, she demonstrates this capacity to give character and life to a song that draws you in past evaluating her skills and abilities into the emotion and the picture to which she and the song are inviting you into. At age 7, the mastery and skills are foreshadowed if not greatly already there.

When doing the rehearsal of doing this song, the band was off tempo & after a few attempts, Angelina had to politely correct the band on the tempo of this song. This girl knows music inside & out!! When she does rehearsals, she will correct a musician if they are off. But, she is always very humble when correcting these musicians.
