Vocal Coach Analysis: DRAKE MILLIGAN on AGT 2022

Музыка

This guy received the nickname "The new Elvis of Country", and it's not hard to see why! Looking at the package insert AGT included in his audition, Drake did many Elvis impressions as a kid.
However, he has certainly found the lane he should be running in, fusing his Elvis-like sound and even look, with a funky, contemporary country music style. Today we take a look at his audition and semi finals performances.

Drake Milligan was one of the best singers this year and as you know he finished 3rd I do not understand why. He has everything to make a great superstar. I am going to follow him and see how he does. His final song was out of this world.

It's cause he just played the same song for the finals. If he did a different one then I think he would've had a much better chance of winning.

@@daveharrenburg7670 I agree. In my opinion, repeating your audition song showed lack of confidence in one's ability which is ludicrous for Drake as virtually any of his songs are hit songs. No other act repeated their audition performances.

Same here, however, if you remember Chris Daughtry finished 4th on American Idol and ended up being the most successful of the the top four. I actually think that it was to Drake's benefit that he didn't come in first as he and his band are now free to weigh different options for growth. They were winners long before the vote!!

I'm 55 and and listen to many different genres of music and I'm also an Elvis Presley fanatic. But when it comes to country music, I basically listen to mainly the pre 2000 stuff. Drake has a good classic sound and a great voice and after listening to The Long Haul with former Wrecking Crew and Elvis's TCB Band member legend, James Burton, has a great rock-a-billy sound also. I hope he stays with this style of music that is skyrocketing his music career and doesn't sell out to the music industry's big wigs.

Logical who knows how to move, as a boy he imitated Elvis Presley on every stage he found, he studied music and possibly sang, and as a teenager he played him in a series. He knows what performing art is and how to use his throat tool perfectly. Adding to that that he has a good presence and that girls like him, he already has 60% of the way paved.

When Drake did a repeat of "Sounds Like Something I'd Do" in the finals last Tuesday, my immediate reaction (before hearing comments from the judges) was that he just blew it. I had a flashback to Detroit Youth Choir singing "Can't Hold Us" in the finals, even though they had done the same song in their first audition. The unintentional message is, "Sorry, you've already heard all of our good material." Prior to the finals broadcast, I was thinking about how winning AGT can be great for one act and not so great for another. A Las Vegas show is ideal for an act like Mayyas. For Drake and his band, I think there's a lot more money and name recognition to be gained by going out on tour and releasing an album once or twice a year. When Simon thanked Drake for staying in the competition both in the semifinals and the finals, I think he was hinting at Drake's ability to be successful with or without winning AGT. Did Drake's song choice or the fact that the finals rendition was more rock-and-roll and less "shimmy" cost him the title? I honestly don't think so, because Mayyas was pretty amazing and they had some worthy social messaging. Did the song choice represent a conscious decision to pursue touring and recording by not winning AGT? Not sure we'll ever know the answer to that one. Nice analysis. You make some keen observations. Naturally, I'm subscribing.

I liked your feedback. He knows that his sexuality sells and uses it. Why not, women do all the time. Yet with that said he actually is a good singer. That and more importantly he writes his own songs. Buddy Holly is said to be the father of a singer preforming his own songs and inspired the Beatles, Walon Jennings and Johnny Cash among a few to write their own songs. I can think of no greater band than the Eagles who did better than most. This kid is for real as long as he sticks to his roots as did the aforementioned stars.
