The Philippines has a dying (if not already dead) practice called Harana, which basically means 'serenade'. It was a way of courtship wherein a man will serenade a woman in front of her home at night. The songs profess undying love. Someone by the name of Florante Aguilar made a documentary about it in which he scoured the provinces for men who used to be 'haranistas' in their towns back in the day. As, stated earlier, I don't know this young man before until I ran in KZread his agt auditioned has worldwide reactions. Such a stellar performance coming the Philippines as fisherman in a.m. a delivery man in p.m. a hard working man in the province. No professional vocal coach just karaoke practice. Wow! I am now his number one fan. Listening to his cover songs over and over until I fall asleep lol! I hope he goes far in his music career. He could cover a ballad songs for Janis Joplin and James Brown with that grit raspy soulful bravado voice
