Vocal ANALYSIS on Valentines - MURDER!!!

I HAVE heard this in a recording before, but never a live performance. This is a tragic love story straight from Aurora's imagination, and it's impressive. I love her spirit, her imagery and her storytelling with just expression. She's talked about writing a book based on the characters in this song and others, and I have to say othat I am intrigued. She is one of my favorite clean singing artists I've come across on this channel!
Join professional opera singer Elizabeth Zharoff, as she listens to Aurora performing "Murder Song” live.

Please invite AURORA for a high tea on the channel, she would definitely come on. She is all in for everything small and yet to be discovered potential: She enjoys collaborating with starting artists the most, even organizing a full online event just to provide a boost in their careers (Exist For Love Sessions). She loves the smaller venues and gigs, like when she performed a completely restyled version of warrior for an audience of three (Haik). And she loves the smaller media stations, giving the first opportunities to interview her to local radio stations and hobby podcast makers. You would get an immediate "YESSS!" and lots of appreciation in a way only AURORA could give when receiving an invitation for an online high tea 🍵🍪 I think her favorite tea was mentioned in the interview with Triple J about her Books & Tea Ssssshhhhelffff...

They have worked with each other for years and he has co written and produced a bunch of her songs. I’m 65 years old, though out my life I have lost count of the many artists I’ve seen perform live in concerts,I have now had the pleasure of seeing Aurora live twice and I can honestly say that she is without doubt the best live performer I’ve ever heard no one has ever moved my emotions like Aurora.this performance for me is the best live performance by anyone period.and I have no hesitation of saying that as a singer songwriter she is in my top 3 of all time, she simply is the essence of what the art of music should be all about, she is so special an artist a vessel that shares her words of poetry that becomes a medicine for everyone who hears them but more than that I don’t think she even realises how special she is she’s just a young woman who’s songs her children as she likes to call them fill her life with so much joy,I’m just blessed to have them in my life ❤️

I do agree - not usually my style of music - BUT this life performance is for me the gold standard. It amazes me what an artist like Aurora is capable of doing, what her potential is - she probably didn't even had to be taught on how to sing. All of this is the definition of true genius. that sets her apart from ordinary humans like myself. Most people live their life "to survive", very few have the privilege of a "meaningful" life, in a sense to make a difference to many other humans. Aurora is certainly one of the few.

I’ve seen so many great bands and performers (and I’m a musician and songwriter myself), but she has eclipsed everyone I’ve ever seen live, even bands and artists I had previously considered my favourites. A 56 year old nihilistic, & terminally annoyed Punk Rock Lifer sits slack~jawed, wondering how was I delivered here? Answering myself, “It does not matter, I’m very fortunate to be.” Adequate language escapes me in describing the effect of this artist, & the members in her musical support, upon first exposure. I can confidently share only that I was & am repeatedly floored by this Norse avalanche of shamanic intuition & authenticity. Streaming tears & smiling time after time, song after song, & moment to moment feels the only available response when all others are rendered inadequate. This is light~bearing exhalation of human frailty as well as an ode to resolve & perseverance of the human spirit. A drinking fountain in the desert. Music is life; It can chase you off, invite you in, or merely be there should you need a place of escape for a time. AURORA’S music is vast & comforting, with ample seating & a perfect view from anywhere. I would love to see AURORA share a stage with Nick Cave for an evening. For me, they are the The undeniable carriers of the torch, & should they touch, we might all joyfully disappear into the light. You have provided space borrowed from Leonard Cohen, & that same space you bring freely to the feet of those weary travelers most in need of it. Mr. Cohen is so proud of you, AURORA, as am I, & as are we all of one another in this moment, having all received & responded to your summon. The Haik full documentary is a masterpiece of musical connectedness. So much an outpouring of caring & mutual consideration plays on every frame, every conversation, each sound, & every perfect edit, recounting & bringing the viewer inside the unveiling, one story at a time, of a day carved with great care & empathy, from lovingly informed materials, by its architect, conductor, & director of this adventure, Christine Dancke, then generously gifted to AURORA, for All Of Us to share in, & bear witness. …Love Unsurpassable, & Magic Incarnate.

The guitarist's name is Odd Martin Skålnes, artist name O. Martin, is a singer, songwriter and music producer from the west coast of Norway. Odd Martin was in AURORA's band until 2016 when he decided to work on his solo project. Even after his departure, he still frequently collaborates with AURORA.

I was hoping you'd do this one. When I saw it in the feed I just got out the box of tissues and sat down. This song is supposedly inspired by an article she saw in the media about a man who killed his mate to end her ongoing suffering from a vicious progressive incurable disease. It is sung from the perspective of the woman living with the suffering. Some have said she was the "victim". I think the woman is describing how both of them are victims of an unimaginably tragic life situation. The sensitivity Aurora demonstrates in writing a song that does not judge either party and just conveys the brutal heartbreak and emotion is unbelievably empathetic on her part. This was performed in an auditorium full of 23,000 people and you could hear a pin drop. I don't want to misquote her but she has said performing at this event was scary. She has said she really did not like performing live early in her career, but then she realized that once she creates a song she can let go of it like you'd let go of a child and then when she performs it it is not about her and she just becomes a conduit for it to flow through her. Her song Awakening about a young girl who commits suicide by drowning is equally sensitive, empathetic and non-judgmental. She is not afraid to tackle hard subjects and shine light on them. She is as vulnerable as finely spun glass and as strong as high carbon steel. Her art rips you apart and heals you at the same time. Who does that? Her art is almost too intense to bear, but you can't look away. She is a siren in the form of a wood nymph. Resistance is futile!

I was in tears before she finished the first countdown, and I was openly bawling at the last one. Her ability to transport both herself and her listeners into a song is unearthly. Part of me wonders what she is seeing when she performs, and another part would be afraid to find out. Her voice so affected me that after I heard her sing one line (in "Helvegen" with Warduna), I immediately looked up and purchased every album she had available on iTunes.

In minute 12:16, notice how she sank in her thoughts and emotions towards that guy once she said "holds me tight" with a slight smile, she immediately reminds herself to go back to reality once saying "oh" where the smile disappeared, also in 12:08 the huge love she holds towards him explains how she shakes her head with her eyebrows' expression while saying "he didn't mean to do no harm" in an unconscious way to defend him at all costs, she also looks at different faces in the crowd as if she's begging them to believe her. Aurora's a miracle !

I've never heard a vocalist make something so tragic sound so incredibly beautiful, it makes my heart and soul ache and yet I love that. I want more of it. I'm a sucker for heartbreaking stories that make me cry and she's written that exact kind of story in a way that is rare in modern music. Aurora has a special talent in her voice, stage presence, and facial expressions. It's so captivating and entrancing. The harmonies feel a little reminiscent of The Civil Wars, which I love. I've always described Aurora like a Winter Nymph, and the way she sings and express her lyrics is just otherworldly. Whilst other singers will kinda tell you a story and express their feelings with their lyrics, AURORA transports you to her world, immersing you in her own feelings. She doesn't tells you a story, you just become a part of the story and you live it. Every single person that I've met in my life that didn't know about AURORA, became immediately a huge fan after I shared any of her songs to them. Few artists can manage this level of expression where almost every single person will immediately connect with her singing.

How she can conveys the love, sadness, despair, and pain of “he who holds the gun” while at the same time emoting fear 😰 of being murdered. How can all these emotions can be communicated from two people in this tragedy 🎭. Then adding a male voice which harmonized with her voice. Simply genius, amazing and shocking all at the same time. At the end when Aurora voice drifts off there is a moment of silence from the live audience who are stunned before applause 👏🏼.

I can't listen to this song without tearing up when she sings the chorus. Her appearance, style, clothing, movements, facial expressions are all part of the performance for me, to just listen and not watch would separate me from her and break the emotional, dimensional connection you speak of. I love many of her songs, Black Water Lily is esp nice and whimsical. BTW her older sister designs her wardrobe. There's a KZread video of a day trip she spends with a fan/friend/youtuber who surprises her with places, people, and locations that is special. She takes her to a forest at dusk that is lit with twinkle lights and lanterns for a performance that is magical.
