We will still be riding with Brandan and our friends at DaybyDay Vlogs and our Dressage coach. We absolutely love them. We are just adding private lessons for Kate with a coach to work specifically on her jumping skills.

This is how a coach and jumping lesson are supposed to be!!

First thing I noticed was that this new trainer has the exercises set up for so many combinations that teach the horse and rider to balance and move forward. He also uses the same terminology and exercises that the dressage trainer used. Encourages and checks between the jumps as will as over them. Love the diversity. Good job 🎉

Yess!! This is how a lesson and trainer should be. I think by him asking about saddle fit immediately and seeing it hasn't been fit is a perfect comparison between this coach and the last

LOVE IT, "SIT UP, SIT BACK AND RIDE" HANDS UP" AND FORWARD FORWARD FORWARD. COULDNT MAKE OUT MUCH BUT SO GLAD HE STRESSED THAT. MY SAYING IS YOU CANT TRAIN A HORSE WHEN YOUR SEAT IS OUT OF THE SADDLE. WHAT A GREAT COACH!! HE ASKED FOR A LEAD CHANGE, THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN A PERFECT TIME FOR KATE TO ASK HOW TO CUE FOR A LEAD CHANGE. SOMETHING SHE COULD WORK ON AT HOME. SCOTT THANKS FOR COMMENTING WHEN YOU COULD . GREAT LESSON Susan

Man I am SO happy he is calling her out on those short stirrups, and addressing the floppy cantle. She would do well with a new saddle all together honestly...

Not even 5 minutes in and I LOVE this trainer. He is so thorough and considerate of not just the rider but especially the HORSE. So many seem to skip what in my opinion is the most important part. I love that you guys are being diverse and not wedged into one trainer/discipline. Your girls will learn SO much more and be so much more rounded as equestrians.

I understand the want to stay and ride with friends. But this new trainer has shown what all the things Brandon isn't teaching her. Ride trail rides with Gabby, and keep moving forward in your riding with this new coach and your Dressage coach. There isn't any shame in saying you want to do more and expand your riding. Brandon isn't the coach to do that for you any longer. I feel this guy will do wonders for Duke, if y'all decide to put him into an actual program and give him 60 days of training, then let Kate start riding him in lessons to learn what this man has taught him. Great lesson! Watch your lesson with Brandon and then this lesson. It's like night and day.

Agreed I don't understand paying so much money to brandan for absolutely no reason at this point. It's quite silly imo, when both bbcr and dbd have trailers. There's really no reason for it.

@sarahluv6228 I feel as if they stay with Brandon cause they know DBD will be shown in video too and produce content. I'd much rather see Kate and Julia thrive with a new coach and better educated riding then to listen to Brandon keep saying " that's OK" when clearly he did nothing to change an outcome over time.

@keri...wanderingincircles5170 daybyday isn't doing bbcr's reputation any good. Also Kate is way above gabbys riding skill level since switching to dressage. It's when I noticed some bad habits going away. It would be the same old, same old if her only instructor was Brandon.

@coffeeandhorses7991 I agree, but I feel they think any interactions showing DBD helps them grow. They need a clean break and move on. They will grow on their own without Laura and her cackling in background

@keri...wanderingincircles5170 yes definitely!. Jenn will have no problem growing her channel without Laura and her questionable practices. All of her goats gained a ton of weight. She is hoping they are just pregnant bc doesn't actually know. She refuses to allow a vet to confirm. She also said the male goat is just as big. If they are not pregnant, then all she did was make them, what looks to be really over weight. She has this werid obsession with wanting her animals chunky.

Nice lesson Kate. It's good to see you working with different coaches. Each of them has something different to teach you. That was probably the best work I've seen Stevie put in. Horses, like people, "learn" different teachers, different coaches. They anticipate what they will be asked to do. Stevie was put in a position today where she couldn't really anticipate everything that was asked. That's good. It makes her engage her brain as well as her muscles. Same for you. You are able to anticipate a lot of what Brandon will say. Shaking it up & mixing it up will make you a much better rider. Overall it will serve you well in all areas of your life. Listening is a skill. When we anticipate what will be said, what we will be asked to do, our listening skills deteriorate.

I love how supportive you guys are for Kate and where she wants to be. I have watched a lot of Brandan lessons and while many favour him, Brandan's downfall is he doesn't correct about sitting back, hands up, proper stirrup length etc. These are the details that are important foundational skills. I like how this coach is asking and seeing what the capabilities while encouraging in a positive manner. (Not sure who it is) I think from what I have seen, this coach would take Kate up quite a few levels and get her closer to the goals she has for herself. Merry Christmas to you guys! **Check out how he is showing to measure strides, critical and spot on!

It's normal that a new coach has to know and check what the horse can do and also important what she does, how is her body..... And always the first 5/10 minutes the horse has to warm up, so a good time for questions. It's a very good idea to change instructors, because all can learn you something more. In the netherlands and belgium there are many topteachers and many horseriders switches often to another good teacher, and a few time later we can see them again with the other instructor. And always they tell what they want to learn. And this is good that change, because one don't see you do something wrong with your legs, and another see that your body position is'nt good, another tells you something about your sitting position....... So i can only aprouve👌🎄

That was so good. You are amazing parents because you are making things happen that will turn your daughter from an ok horsewoman to a really good one. The dressage is really important - if you watch the best show jumpers will do a few steps of dressage before they set off on their round and all the steps from dressage are used during jumping. I know you all like Brendan and he seems a really nice guy, but while he might be good for a complete beginner his lessons don’t seem to contain much content. So bravo to you - I don’t know where you found this trainer, but hang on to him. The lesson flowed so well, he was funny when he was correcting things ( I always found humour helped in my teaching especially the instrument lessons I gave). I loved there was a two way conversation and I loved that he didn’t miss a trick. They hadn’t been riding more than a few minutes when he had sussed Stevie‘s tendency to drop down a gear after a jump. This was something I commented on in one of their shows earlier in the year because the only thing that knocked her (she didn’t have a jump down) was her loss of rhythm as she kept slowing down to a trot. Rhythm is the most important thing for a showjumper. If you watch big names in the sport the more regular their rhythm the smoother their round and the better their marks. I am looking forward to watching Katie and her horses develop over the coming months. She is becoming a very well educated rider…and she shows herself to be so mature here, asking questions and answering them as she rides round. Well done Family 🎉🎉🎉xxxx

Good afternoon! Great job Scott on videoing and letting us know what the coach is saying and wanting! Good job Kate! I am 60 yrs old and can no longer ride due do chronic back pain. When i watch the girls ride it put a smile on my face. I adore your family and videos. You guys are such a sweet family! Jen as i said before you and your husband remind me of me and mine. Putting up Christmas lights outside oh boy. Me, no honey it doesn't go like that, husband shaking his head. Husband says to me, then how should it go. 😂😂. I hope you guys have a very Merry Christmas! Hugs to all.

The warm up reminded me of a comment my coach made that’s always stuck with me… comparing your horses gait to the Shania Twain song “giddy up”. Your ride shouldn’t be like the song, you shouldn’t have to constantly tell them go forward or “giddy up!”. If you ask once from a well trained horse/rider combo the horse should respond at that first cue.
