Vlad Tepes, Vlad the Impaler, the real life dracula, is surrounded by folklore, mystery, and myth. Even during his time the stories about his famed impalings traveled all around Europe. In his home country, he is hailed as a hero who stopped the Ottoman advance into Europe, but elsewhere, the tales tell of his thirst for blood & brutality. What is the truth?

4:00 To clarify, it's not that local nobility was polygamous; it's that they did not automatically disinherit bastards like the Western nobles did. Illegitimate sons had just as much right to inherit the throne as legitimate ones, as long as their father recognized them; they did start at a disadvantage, but relations, power, and ability could carry them far.

Interestingly, in the book, they’re the same person. Dracula tells the story of his battles against the turks, and his behavior in that war (retreating to familiar ground then attacking again at a later date) Is used to predict his behavior. The protagonists rightly guess that he will flee to his castle and come back stronger with the knowledge he’s gained. The last part of the book is a race to get to the castle first.

and spoiler for the next episode: after wlad of poland and hungary died, he was succeded by Ladislau the Posthumous, a mere child. the realm was ruled, in fact, by his regent: John Hunyadi. he would be pretty much the kingmaker around, supporting or discarding the rulers of both Wallachia and Moldova, for instance. further spoiler: the transylvanian-romanian lord's son, Mathias Corvinus, would then become Hungary's Golden King, revered to this day.

Fact:(I am romanian by the way) romanians want to consider John Huniady(or ”Iancu de Hudenoara”) to be romanian while hungarians consider him to be one of their while also the Serbians call him ”Janko” because he is a saint between them. In reality, he was just a Transylvanian Noble. Transylvania and Hungary are diffrent. He is said to be half romanian and half hungarian, but he changed his name to ”huniady” because that was the requirment for that day in order to advance in political power. In other words, it”s like how you have to speak english if you are a mexican immigrant in the US.

Vlad III is easily one of my favorite Heroes in the series and very much has a compelling story where in the Apocrypha timeline, he seeks to undo the Dracula the Vampire myth, leaving only his historical context. I even have him all but maxed out in Grand Order, and yes, he is in fact a deadly Servant to run even if he's unusually squishy (Berserker class Servant, so while he does more damage to basically everyone, he also takes more damage from everyone).
