For everyone concerned about sight lines trees and shade, there are over 1,500 trees in the park. It is nearly impossible to transplant adult trees in areas that get all four seasons and have them survive, so the trees are all young. Just give them a few years, it’ll really come together.
@DoomPlague

Similar to complaints about tree removals at existing parks. They plant young trees because its not realistic to transplant a bunch of adult ones. I just hope this park lasts long enough for people to see the grown trees.
This park has so much potential. I think an RMC Raptor or a hybrid is their best option for the next coaster.

@@ValleyThrills Yeah exactly. The 2 things they need in the coaster lineup are a midsized to big family coaster, and a large scale roller coaster that doesnt go upside down. Something like a Gerstlauer family coaster or a family woodie from Gravity Group or RMC could work really well, alternatively a Gerstlauer Bobsled, but if they wanna import more second hand rides from Sweden, there's a Schwarzkopf Jet Star 2 for sale for under 500.000 dollars. As for a larger scale non inverting coaster, either a wooden coaster or a Megalite style coaster, be it Intamin, Mack, or a Chance Hyper GTX could all work really well.
Your passion for supporting smaller parks speaks volumes! If a park has potential to grow, it needs support from in order to grow.

When I was there last week, me and my friend rode matugani in all 16 seats, and one of the operators said that the day before, which is the same day coaster studios was here, someone finished their 1,000th ride on matugani which is just mind blowing

Thank you for giving our little Park such a great review! Tickets are only $52. Gary, the owner, had a horrific ski accident over the Winter and is lucky to be at the Lost Island parks this season. He needs 1,000 visitors a day. He is counting on word of mouth advertising. Thanks again for coming out to Waterloo Iowa and visiting our theme park. Glad you had fun!

I liked and reshared this video before even watching it. After making my pilgrimage 2 weeks ago, all I can say is this park has amazing potential and deserves all the love and attention they can get. Just with the few attractions they have, theres already Disney/Universal level theming and storytelling on some of the rides (even the DROP RIDE), and the companion app gives you alot to do as your wandering around to make the experience even fuller....
As for Matugani I'd definitely say its the same credit. Its the same roller coaster but just taken apart and put together somewhere else, not a clone or anything. If we were to count Matugani and Kanonen as 2 different coasters despite literally being the exact same pieces of tracks, supports, and trains just transported from Sweden to Iowa, then you'd have to count Travelling coasters like Olympia looping, Alpina Bahn, and Vilde Maus XXL again and again for every single time they're transported from one fair to another.
@thecoastergnome8603

this place is so fuckin awesome man. i love that this got built brand new here in the US. we need more parks like this.
This park looks way better than last year.
So glad this park is getting some coverage!
Thank you for promoting the park! This video and your endorsement alone are going to make a difference.
That's a very beautiful park that deserves a good future. Very unusual to see such an empty park in the summertime, hope this changes quickly and they can expand.
I was there July 28th, the hottest day of the year so far. I was shocked to see how few guests were there! There were 17 cars in the lot at 6pm and they were to close at 930pm that night. There were maybe 25 cars at 2pm. We had 4 in our party and we rode every ride without any other people. We never waited in a line. It was like we rented the park for a day! They really need to start an advertising campaign. It's a beautiful park with so many fun and extreme rides.

A Vekoma Bermuda Blitz or other non-launch model would do wonders for this little park! But I think they should work on a refurb for Nopoku, which they may just do, because they are listening to us!
A dark ride better than Disney is very surprising and shows a family park can do better than the big parks. Hopefully the crowds start showing up. Would love to visit this park someday.
The bertch family plan on doing more here. It does look like they plan to add more.
Such a coaster park sim game feel. Happy to see a new park!
I'd say this park's best bet coaster wise, is probably a highly themed Dive Coaster? With how good the theming already is, a dive coaster with terrain work could be perfect.
Wow, what a great little park. Almost looks more like a European regional park. I really do hope they can get the means to not just stay afloat but expand! Like the 2 things they need in the coaster department right now if you ask me, are a family coaster as a stepping stone between the wacky worm and Matugani, and then a big non-inverting coaster. As for the family coaster I see a lot of possibilities, they have a lot to choose from. For example, a Gravity Group family woodie, maybe a Gerstlauer family coaster like Yipee, a Gerstlauer Bobsled would work really well too. But what I probably find most likely is a family boomerang of some sort! They can be really affordable, and provide a unique forwards and backwards sensation! As for the big non inverting thrill ride, I have 2 ideas. One is a wooden coaster around 80-100ft tall. The other though which would be REALLY cool to see, would be a Megalite style coaster! Like something like Piraten, Alpina Blitz, or Lightning Run! This park is one where a Megalite or Megalite style coaster would just be a match made in heaven! But yeah they could really use some more vegetation and I know they're new but even just around their border it would probably be a good idea to have a berm with trees on it. Also looking at the greater complex, they have a water park and campgrounds too, but I'm honestly shocked at how they're all so far apart and not integrated into one another. Like as the crow flies its over a mile from the park entrance, to the entrance of the campgrounds, and theres no pedestrian or cycling paths or shuttles or anything by the looks of it. Plus the entrance is facing away from everything else. It just seems odd and bad for the user experience ngl. Especially compared to even tiny regional parks in Denmark where I'm from that can't even afford a Eurofighter, yet where they still plan everything to be close together and integrated. Like Lost Island is small but they can probably do loads to develop this into a great place, but they just need to make it easier to go between all their facilities. Like make some paths for pedestrians and maybe have some bike rentals you can use to go from Theme park, to water park, to campgrounds and back, and maybe a tiny little resort town somewhere in the middle with a restaurant or 2 and some other activities. Probably where the parking lot for the Waterpark and adventure golf is now would be a good place.
I used to go there as a kid when it was just a few slides, a go cart track and arcade
That is so crazy I no joke made those cupcakes 😂 I used to work there and we had to make so many of them for lost Island

As someone who grew up with Six Flags Over Georgia as a home park, I deeply vibe with Sarah's love for Monster Mansion.
A wooden family coaster from the Gravity Group would perfectly compliment their existing duo. Hope the owners have the budget to add something like this; it provides airtime without having inversions!
I subscribed and liked just because you went! I worked at their Waterpark across the street for the first 4 years it was there, so I know this family, and I love watching people support them. They are so good for Waterloo/Cedar Falls!

A Gravity Group family woodie really is what they need next imo
I love this place. Matugani is awesome
For a new park, this already offers a lot, and I hope it can become really popular over time.
Call me crazy, but this park gives me OG Jazzland vibes from when the park first opened. Especially given the big lake in the center. Hopefully this park fares better than that one did.
Mautugani is 100% the same credit as Kanonan, because if you count it as 2 credits thats an experience based definition. its the same machine, the point of credits is, how many different coasters have I been on and this is the same coaster. if you define credits by experience then every time you re-ride a coaster its a new credit because no 2 rides on a coaster will ever be the exact same experience.

10:29 "What the hell was that?!" Sarah shouts while shaking about on a predictible Vekoma SLC. This Lost Island has a lot of promise. In time, with rising attendance, they can possibly make more expansions with better attractions.

I think a good next coaster for them is a Gerstlauer Spinning Coaster. They have two great thrill coasters and a kiddie coaster but nothing in between. So it would be perfect for filling in that gap.
Maybe I missed it, but the Lost Island water park is across the street if you happen to visit our part of Iowa. Mini golf and Karts too. There is a small casino/hotel right around the block (literally) if I remember correctly.

@@thecoastergnome8603 I just think that theming and location has a big impact on the ride experience. I would count a VR version of a roller coaster as a new ride too. @thecoastergnome8603
11 ай бұрын
@@oszi3998 you just said “because it’s a new experience” but you can’t use experience at all to define a coaster if you want to be logically consistent, because then you have to count every time you re ride a ride as a new credit because it will always be a new experience.
@thecoastergnome8603
11 ай бұрын
@@oszi3998 think about it this way, riding a coaster in the back is different visually then the front, at night it’s different visually then the day, in overcast it’s different visually then when it’s sunny. If some one is sitting next you you should was not last ride that’s different visually, if you move over to the right that’s different visually. If a new tree is planted in a near by park you can see from the lift hill that’s different visually. I don’t care how people define credits as long as it’s logically consistent. If you use any sort of subjective “experience” to define a credit then you HAVE to count every re ride EVER as a new credit. And that just invalidates the point of credits in the frist place.
This looks great. If I’m ever out there, I will definitely go to this park.
I agree with Tanner. I like the SLCs. I haven't ridden one that hurt, until I rode this one at Lost Island. Other than that, I loved the park. Awesome dark ride, Matugani was far better than I thought it would be, friendly staff, great theming, reasonable prices on merch & food.
I’m hoping to come here sometime this summer, I live in Iowa, and Scratch is an amazing cupcakery.
Been looking at this park for a while would love to visit love an accelerator coaster they are basically the predecessor to an Intamin Blitz coaster.
Wow, the park looks great. I hope it's successful!!!
I've been on 3 SLC's and the one at Lost Island really doesn't deserve that much hate. It does have a bit of a rattle to it, but the restraints make it so much better. Of the 3 I have been on this one overall is the best, plus it has the extra helix which is uncommon. Going a bit far to comment about getting a concussion when with these restraints it is so much better and eliminates the headbanging I experienced on the other 2 I rode. It is a bit jerky through the first element, but for a rebuilt relocated SLC it's really not as bad as you guys are making it seem. It's really a shame this theme park isn't getting more love. Trees also don't grow overnight. This was a cornfield and it has only been in existence for not even 2 years, not much they can do to make the trees grow faster. Also why no coverage of their flume ride which is also very good?
Park looks very nice. Definitely give a Europe theme park vibe. But with maybe some advertising nearby and minor changes, it can succeed. But definitely once it get rolling, hopefully see something like RMC T Rex, family coaster, GCI Wooden coaster to give it a signature coaster or 2, as well as small improvement. Hopefully we give it the time so it can succeed and push Adventureland and Valleyfair to improve. More completion means better for the consumers.
I ride like Mystic Timbers would be perfect here!

They did plant tress this year, just let them grow. Maybe they need more?
I wanted to let everyone know, that this park seems so pretty and amazing that their is no way in hell I'm letting this park shut down bc of bankruptcy due to not enough guests, so what i planned was a trip next year in august of 2024 where I'll be paying for single day tickets every day for a week and a half and I'll try to buy 90% of items in the biggest gift shop at the park, because it's really sad how little guests this beautiful park gets
with those winds they will probably be limited with height on coasters, a nice gravity group woodie and a mack spinner could help draw in families which they need to draw more cash to expand.
Seems like I might have to try and max out Volkanu
They should give the slc the nor’easter treatment
