Hi Mark, Thank you so much for taking the time to prepare this detailed review. As you mentioned in the review, some of the issues discussed between us and they already improved in our last production. Thanks again, we are looking forward to see the review part two and to learn more from it. Thanks again and best regards. The VIRE Team

Hi VIRE Team!! I noticed that between the two stoves that there is a strong affinity towards the larger stove for those wanting more of a true rocket stove and I agree. The taller shaft seems to really help ignite the volatile gases. But I noticed that the VIRE Team has only made a titanium version of the mini but I’d really love a titanium version of the original VIREstove (along with the other design updates of course). Is that something that’s in the works? Or maybe if you had an optional attachment to extend the vertical shaft for the titanium mini? I thought about fabricating one but saw your comment here and figured I should just ask. Dunno if you follow the thread from your comments but I figured I’d try. Thanks! 🙏🏾 Thanks!

I'm glad you mentioned about the smaller size losing the vacuum power! I was actually thinking about that with seeing the first one, that I would like for it to have been taller. Also, I think once you get the fire going well, closing the door over the fuel shoot, would make the air suck through at a higher velocity (but I don't have one to test that theory).

You are correct on both counts. Closing the fuel door cover can be an issue if feeding longer sticks. Thanks for commenting

Mark, I've found over my years of camping with my best buddy Dave; that when pitching tents, assembling stoves, batoning, organizing camp, building fires with damp wood, et. This tip really helps: If you just drink five to eight beers when you first reach your camp, and wait a few mintes, most everything will go together with ease. If not? Well, you didn't really need it anyway. Hope my mom doesn't read this post!

@@MarkYoungBushcraft I did. Great review as usual. It's a shame the mini wasn't completely scaled down, instead of just been shortened. Was there much ash left from the burn as it appeared to be a very self-contained stove?

@@blueyonder1233 Very little ash other but not ash free. It burns hot when it gets going and consumes everything.

Again, GREAT REVIEW! I would be inclined to buy the smaller one, but they're made in Israel, and if they didn't make it illegal to boycott Israel in my AMERICAN state, I would buy it. I am abstaining for that reason alone.

Welp Mark, I just ordered the large Virestove… I’m going to use my SOLOSTOVE Mesa XL’s “Heat Shield” with it to see if I can make this rocket stove into a… ROCKET HEATER!!! Please make a video on using ROCKET STOVES as “ROCKET HEATERS” …and maybe try alternative hacks on creating a DIY heat-shield…. I’m sure our wives/girlfriends will approve another “Rocket Stove Heater” purchase for THEM! 😉

Interesting stove, why not make a metal sleeve that is wide enough to slide onto the top section to help keep the air from flowing out of the openings?

Yes, that could work. It would add weight to it of course. I have considered wrapping it in carbon felt. Lighter and insulates it as well. Thanks for commenting

I wonder if secondary burn can be designed into this stove? That would be kind of cool.

I was thinking that the chimney looked a bit off of plumb, then realized once you dig the legs in a bit on an actual dirt surface you can level it out. Otherwise they are a nice compact rocket style stove.

Maybe, widen out the female channel part of the stove so the adjoining flanges will fit easier. A screwdriver should cure that warpage caused problem pretty quickly. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

This design looks like it will function more a forge than a camp stove? It looks like it may have 2 speeds - in full after burner, and off. Maybe I’m wrong, though. Courtesy of Half Vast Flying

Honestly, (and other viewers can feel free to change my mind), I think it's ridiculously large, and "rocket" stoves are just a toy. Sure it heats faster, but you just use more wood, and how fast do you need to boil something? Maybe the mini is useful. I'm only watching cuz I had a rough, long day, and I'm dead beat, and seeing one of your videos was just the ticket to cheer me up and relax.
