    I will be doing a follow up in 6 months / 1 year on how the totes are holding up since I know a lot of folks wonder if they will give out over time. I’m pretty sure they will be fine … but time will tell 😂🤘

    Instead of tape, you can create a digital QR code list. Where when you scan the QR sticker (best made with a label maker), it then populates what's in the container on your phone.

    We use white 'Chalky' pens to write on the black bins directly. It stands out like a whiteout pen but can be wiped off with a damp rag if you need to relabel.

    Nice video and project, Uncle Jessy ❤ Hey, it’s a pity you picked black opaque boxes. I would highly recommend transparent boxes - you can actually see what’s inside. It doesn’t look so beautiful, but it is way faster to find things that you forgot where you placed.

    Very nice, and bonus, you designed it in a way that's friendly to those who don't have the means to haul 10 or 12 ft dimensional lumber. I also love that you build from the studs outward with cleats. I'm starting to get some ideas brewing in my skull to revamp my bedroom/office, except I would probably find some excuse to use through bolts, glue joints, etc.

    I feel like this solution takes up more space than it saves as a storage system tbh. The massive wooden frame seems rather excessive since the totes are literally designed to be stacked in this exact way without needing any of this. This would only make sense if you were needing to be in and out of that many boxes all the time. Well executed project as always though. I'd bet those frames would hold up a lot more weight than the plastic totes could ever dream.

  • @DonsArtnGames

    @DonsArtnGames

    2 ай бұрын

    There's a tradeoff in all designs. Better accessibility or less space used. I prefer accessibility myself. No point in stacking pots of storage if you have to shuffle every time you need to get to something. In not really sure where the "excessive space" is... The totes are stacked just enough to clear each other. Most dressers with drawers have an even worse ratio of negative space.

    Nice. Built something similar in my garage about 6 years ago. No 3d printed parts and put shelves in, instead of rails due to the weight of what I was storing (actually small pieces of lumber, by dimension size and type, reg and pressure treated). I put a hole in my thumbnail with my drill (slipped off the screw) though, so at least you didn't do that.. LOL. Looks great.

  • @bora773
    @bora7732 ай бұрын

    you really need a diagonal support there. the small corner pieces will do nothing, if the shelf top experiences a strong push towards teh side. the whole things will just collapse on itself. Unless of course you bolt it to the wall behind it, which you should do anyway, so it does not topple forward either...
