it's my yearly retreat, since 2017, and I always bring a yoga mat there, so that I can stretch my back and body. If not, can stretch on your own mattress :)

You just read my mind! I also promised myself to do it every year. I already found another amazing monastery next to Chiang Mai, Wat Umong. Can't wait to go there, as it's such a good feeling to spend some time only with yourself and cating only about your mental health :)

Andy, thank you for your comment. I've added links in the description for video about my personal experience of Vipassana and another one where I explain different types of meditation retreats 😃
may all beings be happy
The Vipassana centres don't serve coffee because caffeine is a stimulant and will interfere with your meditation. Don't carry your own coffee to the centre! Personally, I wouldn't carry fruits either (sugar is also not good during meditation) but I guess its ok for people who are accustomed to eating very rich food and who might struggle with the plain food provided by the meditation centre.

@@IKIYOGA and you
You didn't do a real Viapsanna. The ones I thailand are fake they don't follow the exact precipes. You did vipasanna lite.

It’s not fake, it’s just another approach. My Vipassana is Mahasi Sayadaws teachings and Goenka followed U Ba Khin teachings. Goenka do body scanning and mine was more about concentration on the rising and falling sensations while breathing. The meditation techniques I practiced I found in another Thai monasteries when going to chanting and meditation and personally it suits me more than Goenka’s teaching. This is what is it all about-you can always choose the technique that you like and do it. You can take a look at the forum that I found very interesting and informative: www.reddit.com/r/vipassana/comments/eqi1y4/general_vipassana_vs_vipassana_as_taught_by_goenka/?rdt=32774

@IKIYOGA Roger that! That's informative. I did a Goenke one in canada it was no joke. Then I did one in thailand and it perhaps is more as you describe. Accept we could leave at times and keep our phones. Thanks for the info i will update my files:)
