Awesome video, my friend! I like how you fixed the windows with black tape. Very cool and clever!

A brief cameo of Transformer comic no. 94. I always find it funny how, when I was a kid, it was a highlight of my week; something to look forward to. Now, as an adult, I can see it as the thoroughly entertaining means to boost sales that it clearly was. Not just a full page ad for Transormers The Movie, but a separate full page ad for Transformers The Movie OST.

I was always a huge fan of the Battle Chargers. Loved their black and white colour scheme along with their 'cheeky' personalities in the comics. I got their Earthrise figures last year and after a bit of painting they look fantastic. Really enjoyed this vid of the originals. Great fix! Nice to know there's another Runamuck fan out there Dave. :)

Now that I've seen how easy these come apart, I've finally fixed up mine. Luckily they only needed a bit of lubrication. Working perfectly now. Cheers Dave.

Thanks to that yellowing, I knew a younger guy who thought that all that gray plastic on toys, computers, NES consoles, etc. were just made to be beige.

Your cartoon version of the stickers is great. Good job.

i just restored a runabout and a runamuck . fun project.

I had the Topspin Transformers Jumpstarter as a kid and played with that toy all the time. I have fond memories of him transforming over and over as he raced across the linoleum tile floor. They did not work on carpet no matter how low the pile. They worked well on linoleum or smooth concrete.

Nice back story about the pocket money purchase in your time on your holiday!.

My mother bought my brother and I a Runamuck and Runabout from a Walgreens we use to visit back in the 80's-90's, this video brought me some memories... also mineral-oil-based lubricants don’t attack most plastics and offer excellent performance for an economical cost!

These videos are relaxing and bring me great joy. Keep up the good work . And side note, for having most g1 transformers from 84 to 87 the one I'm still missing is runabout but I do have the weapon .

Great fixes. Shame the wheels couldn't be deyellowed but overall the end results are great. I look forward to the jump starters.

Excellent Fixes, Dave! I agree that the more cartoon styled stickers do look better. I also kinda like the yellowed one that’s missing stickers. He’s got character.😃👍

I really enjoyed this extra-long video! Those all turned out great, but I really think the one with your stickers looks the best of the lot! It just has that perfect balance of toy detail without being overly distracting. Nicely done, ol' bean!

I love it! I hate to criticize, but in my experience, electrical tape as you have used it will peel back around the edges, so you may find you have to replace that with a regular sticker. Anyway, G1 transformer repairs practically give me goosebumps, making me think someday you'll repair a G1 Jetfire! It has some classic broken spots that I have not figured out good fixes for (e.g. broken shoulder tab, or a similar plastic tab that holds the tail fins breaks off).

I've not had that issue. I have a couple of toys fixed liked this for more than ten years and it's still in place. Might be you need to use better quality tape? Not sure.

I guess it depends on what brand of tape you use.

I don’t own even one transformer but I love the whole series of restorations. :) the electric tape solution is brilliant!

I have my childhood Runabout and now I think I need to add some lubricant to that M part to keep it from breaking. Also the Electrical tape solution is fantastic! Could work on customs too!

With the "horns" on the Jumpstarters you're supposed to adjust when the figure pops up. Never got it to work on my own figures though.

Great stuff! If you can ease the tyres off the wheels might stand a de yellow too? From the end sequence you must have a good idea how much work goes in to shooting the adverts.

Funny how collectors complain about one step changers now these days & I don't think they realized we had them. Jumpstarters ,Battle chargers G2 Had the Auto rollers, Beeast wars 96 had the quick attack action one step change & machine wars too. & That is actually clever to use electrical tape if the window is black.

Ive been eagerly awaiting this video for a while and am not disappointed! Looking forward to your jumpstarters videos when they happen as that is my personal nemesis project.

Never liked these or the jump starters. They were the first transformers that i thought were garbage. Another great video and i love the fact that you give the sticker designs away for free download.

I've seen retro computers being retrobrited with using only UV light, no peroxide required. It takes a while, like 2-3 weeks, even up to a month, but if the part you're de-yellowing has stickers on it, it might be something to consider. You basically just have a container with something reflective on the inside and have a big UV light on top. Not sure how overall effective it might be, but again, might be worth at least experimenting with.

Hello Mr Polloi, it's been awhile since I left a comment, I've been a subscriber for a year or 2 so I never left just been awhile since I commented , I've been getting into transformers as of lately, very nice repair, it's amazing how many different transformers their are i have never even heard of a lot of them, I like the custom comic book cartoon version you made the best, when you start to make figures any kind and make them more like the cartoon it makes the hobby even funner I think, enjoyed the video and learned something at the same time, stay awesome Mr Polloi

How cool! I just watched the toy hunting video last night when you picked this up!

AMAZING

That was a nasty stress mark you put in that piece when you took the standard screw driver to it. Suggest dipping them in very hot water before doing that sort of thing again, like you did with the other pieces. I had both jump starters as a kid, never had an issue with them, worked great! Till I broke them, that was on me not the toy.

I’m sorry, but watching Dave try to make it do literally anything supposed to in the beginning just kills me. Literally nothing would stay in place.😂 1:52

i got both of these guys, had to lubricate the legs on both but the black one was perfect otherwise, runamuck however is still an issue, the tab is intact if stress marked but it wont stay in car mode reliably and just loves to pop open at random and im not sure why, also another detail and possibly part of why they always break there, the hook doesnt actually want to go into the slot and the end of the hook strikes the tab directly requiring a fair amount of force or inertia/luck to get it to actually go in and hook

I’m curious, have you ever run across many MASK vehicles and have you repaired many or more importantly did you like the show and the vehicles gimmicks?

I'm surprised Takara's engineers either failed to notice the piece snapping or didn't consider it when testing the toy.

Or it didn't snap when the plastic was nice and new. Age plays a big part in why these toys break now. Which is why we all like fixing them ☺️

21:46 perhaps you can use another piece of thin styrene to attach the new piece to the figure on the bottom to give it more holding strength.

nice repairs as always for parts like the first one you repaired (the sliding mechanism) which have an inherently weak design, have you ever considered casting a replacement part from epoxy?

One one hand, I hate that these videos drop when I'm in bed, just about to go to sleep. On the other hand, it gives me something to look forward to for tomorrow.

That's the problem with putting videos up. There is no good time for everyone. You never have to watch them straight away, they are not going anywhere :D

Those little “M” shaped parts almost remind me of the Recognizers from Tron! Speaking of Tron, do you happen to have any vintage Tron figs?

Excellent repairs, particularly like the black tape and mention of Pritt Stick! I only acquired Runamuck recently and it's in decent shape. I hope someone can help me: I bought this exact Plastic Weld brand based on these videos to fix some G1's and modern Transformers. I applied it the exact same way but once it cures it never forms much of a bond and falls apart. I used it generally on moving parts e.g. a door on Studio Series Bumblebee where the door hinge is held by friction cracked. Is there some alternative method or have I got a duff sample? Very frustrating, so thank you for help in advance

Thanks. Could be the toys you are using it on are not the correct sort of plastic. Modern toys are made in a very different. Plastic weld works great with these older type plastics. Cheers

I used boiling water 2 straighten millennium falcon struts that had twisted. Got it straight but it discoloured. Any ideas dave how fix the color? Went from blue 2 white blue in hot water

Question I’ve been meaning to ask, have you ever thought of doing a restore of two similar things ; one doing repairs your usual way with great ingenuity and the other recreating broken parts with 3D printed parts you created and printed out? Would make for a awesome show

I wonder if those parts were metal in Japan.

The reason why I own more 'Go-Bots' than 'Transformers'. Transformers were just too fragile. If the plastic parts of the Transformers toys had been made of ABS, which is what LEGO parts are made from, instead of a rather low-grade Polystyrene, then they wouldn't have broken so easily.

Many thanks for this vid! I‘ve never been too much into Transformers. It is looking great in the „car“ mode…but the robot mode is quite lame imho. And you have to wind it up and let it drive before it „transforms“… 🤔 why didn’t they give it a button and you decide? Great restoration - mediocre toy for me. Big thumbs up for you but the toy itself is rather thumbs down for me 😉
