Hi Alec, That 1st pak was primitive, however back then I'm sure you thought it was cutting edge design. Always great watching your SCUBA episodes.

My first pack was WWII war surplus webbing wrapped around the tank and around my body!! Alec
Yakety Sax - love it. I'm a big Benny Hill fan. 😃

Ahh! Good ol' Benny Hill. Not appropriate these days but funny as heck! Alec
Dear Alec Great video!! I've noticed that some modern BCDS has a metal back as well. LOOks like a wing type BC but with a metal back.

When I was about 12 years old, I was at Fenelon Falls one day getting ready to jump in. I had my old black homemade suit, a 72, Aquamatic reg and 12" knife. A very young boy came up to me. He would be about 7 or 8 years old and he says, "Hey mister. Are you a frogman??" I think my chest puffed out about 6" before I said, "Yep sonny. I'm a frogman. Wanna see my knife." I remember that like it was yesterday. Great fun. Thanks Eric. Alec

Alec Peirce Scuba those were the days when men were men and so were frogmen. I wonder if they had raccoon-men?

Don't feel too badly about Kevin. He's used to it first and he always gets his revenge. Alec

now that's a topic - Kevin revenges. that would make a good video!
Hi Alec , I really got a chuckle from the Benny Hill music ! Was that Kevin's idea or yours? I am really surprised that you didn't use an old steel tank in this episode, you must have a few kicking around. Great History lesson as always. Thanks Owen m

Oh yeah! I have lots of 72s. Maybe I should have set up the harnesses on tanks. It would have looked better and made more sense. We'll blame Kevin - he's the property manager and director. I'm just the talent! Thanks Owen. Alec
That red frame backpack is originally the frame of an m1943 mountaineering pack with a clamp added to it

It may be. Lots of early gear was 'borrowed' from other sports and modified for diving. My first weight belt was surplus WW2 webbing. A
Last one is very very similar to commercial diving 2018

Yep! The basic style hasn't changed in almost 50 years. Alec
DIR style. We use crotch 2 inch always. Best when scootering. And we use the same "quick release" always. :)

A nice wide crotch strap is certainly better - if you use one at all! For scootering, where the scooter is attached to your pack to pull you, you'd definitely want a wide strap!! Alec
Hey Alec, I've been thinking if i can use a crotch strap for the BCD to keep it from slipping up because I got a big tummy. So If you can teach us about crotch straps, would be really helpful.

Oh yeah! Can I teach you about crotch straps!!! Crotch strap Rule #1 - Don't use one (unless it's unavoidable). Keeping the BCD from sliding up around your head is exactly what a crotch strap is good for. Give it a try. If it works, I'm a hero. If it doesn't work, I told you so. Good luck. Alec
