More to come! A
Happy to see this video I have been using the camco slide out conditioner for years and would recommend it I will spray it on and let set over night to let it really pull in to the rubber I have had GREAT success using it and it lasts on the rubber for a long time. Thanks again ALEC

Glad to know another person relies on camco spray. I would leave it longer but wanted to shorted the video (Kevin cries when I go too long). A
This is a great channel! Lots of useful information with entertaining presentation :) Thank you!

I did a few of those. My favourite was the Mike Nelson / Sea Hunt coin. A
Hi Alec! I just returned from 4 days of scuba diving in the Florida Keys and discovered a great place in Islamorada. The History of Scuba Diving Museum was full of great stuff and I thought of you and how you would enjoy the place. If you haven't been, it's well worth the time (once the hurricane is over and done). My best to you, sir!

Thanks Scott. Hope it survives the hurricane intact. It's a great scuba museum. A

Armor all works good too,thanks Alec

It works but these products are made for rubber only so they work the best. Good old Armour All is fine if nothing else around. A
I use 303 Aerospace Protection Ultimate UV Protection on all of my vinyl, rubber, & plastic down here in Florida. I use it on my SUP boards now for over 3 yrs. You can get it on Amazon

This method seems to be perfect for my Voit B4 mask that I bought recently. With shown method preserving rubber gear it will looks much better on display. Thanks Alec for recommendation

Vacuum seal is what we use vs. shrink wrap.

But but but you forgot to apply it to the inside of the foot pocket ! It makes it a lot easier to slide your foot in when you actually use them .

Most old timers use nylon socks to slide into them. The spray dries without any slippery film so maybe WD-40? A

@@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter i have used Armor All and a few other products like that and they work GREAT
Firs time i saw a pair of rubber fins they were hanging in a Dads friend garage ,needless to say i was a litlle rascal and i took them to play arround...great was my surprise and shame when i put them on over my shoes ,,,they were all smeered inside out in pure axle grease!!! lol!!!! now i can laugh about it , not that day when my Dad found me all greased up...

Ha thats funny Luis. My dad had words with me after I used his wooden tool bench to help mould lead weights. Ouch. A
Silicone grease is also good for rubber and you can get it as spray too
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter
Жыл бұрын
After a good cleaning, silicone spray would be a good preservative then put it into a airtight zip loc bag or vacuum seal it. A
Would you recommend that for recent JetFins?
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter

Any fin can benefit from preserving, vintage or new if you want to keep them for a long time. A
I have a set of very good condition rubber hoses and a mouthpiece that came off my Royal Aqua Master, what is the best way to store them to keep them from dry rotting?
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter
Жыл бұрын
Since they are rubber, use the 2nd product mentioned then put into a zip loc bag after squeezing all the air out. I have a 70 year old mask like new following these steps. Good luck. A
does this advice go for old rubber wetsuits as well?
@AlecPeirceScuba_SeaHunter
Жыл бұрын
It could but it's not perfect as older wetsuits could be all rubber or a mix of neoprene with rubber coating. If it's kept cool, dry out of the sun and not folded and in a dry cleaning bag, it can last a long time. A
It really sucks that the flippers you showed is called 'vintage'. It shouldn't be vintage. They still should be making them this way. I hate all this plastic shit they make flippers with now a days. I found a pair of the voit flippers you showed in this vid except they're black. I got them at a second hand store and they're my favourite pair. Good vid. thanks for the info I think you said you sell them on ebay. What's your user name? thank you.
