The man was a superstar, and got injured very early in his career. People and the media made fun of him. Accused him of being injury prone and soft, yet he worked his butt off, managed his ego and instead of a career cut short by injuries, he is breaking records left and right while being the longest active player of all time. Thats a hall of famer right there.

@@xgnofearzthe10thgenlegend82 But Melo doesn't have a reputation of being a bad team player or locker room guy. He's not a nusense like TO was back in his days in the NFL. Carmelo is well liked and well respected "amongst players" across the league. It's Ownership and GM's that are blackballing him cause he has lack of awareness on what's expected of him to contribute to a team at this stage of his career. That's why I suggested that VC and Melo chop it up and design a plan of action on how he can package his contribution and role to add value to a team that upper management would concur. Obviously VC has a blueprint that works so I'd give him a call.

  • @cerebralmindgame9818

@@xgnofearzthe10thgenlegend82 I have to disagree cause even when Chauncey Billups recently went on the record to talk about their days in Denver when Melo was chucking for points rather than focusing on winning, they still have a brotherhood and mutual respect for one another. James Harden was confused on why the Rockets got rid hom so abruptly when he was already agreeing to come off the bench and they did it behind the back of Chris Paul without giving him a chance to vouch for Melo. He's still close friends with his banana boat crew and hangs with them till this day. The rest of the guys in the league still play pick up with him in the gym to stay sharp. No one (player) is openly coming out to say that Melo was a bad guy or teammate. I hear that the consensus around the league is that he's a great guy. He just doesn't know how to play without dominating the ball and he totally obliterates the fabric of a coaches play by iso ball. He never evolved his game to play more "efficiently". We're in the day and age with "advanced analytics" and they're putting Melo in a vacuum saying that based on his plus/minus when it comes down to win shares, the juice is no longer worth the squeeze when you also FACTOR IN HIS AGE. See, he was able to get away with dismissing plays and effectively using teammates as a younger player because the league holds dear to your "potential". When you're past your prime years like Melo and you don't have any championships to back up your disdain for following plays or effectively using your teammates, or evolving your game, the business sense kicks in and says "you haven't EFFECTIVELY outplayed your negligence"; therefore, we'd rather fill a lesser talent in a roster spot who's younger based on "potential" with no strong expectations or circus acts with the media. He's like that bad chick who got away with being a bratty bitch in her twenties to hit the wall in ther 30's and wonder why she can't get away with so much shit being that she's still beautiful to select men. There's a younger crop of baddies with less headache to wrestle with cause the expectation rate is lower and less baggage. But it's not because the players don't like him....

JaVaughn McGregor no one is going to say he’s a bad guy... cause he isn’t. Brotherhood and bad team mate can be two different things. Coming of the bench just cause they told him too and coming off the bench gracefully... are two different things. I had a good friend that I brought into my business. He is a great person.... Terrible business man. His new partner says the same thing. Great guy, sucks as a partner.. if me and this guy are my friends only references... he’s fucked. Lol Men need to accept their short comings and if you watched any of his interviews recently he is trying to. A little to late though. If there is a spot for Vince in the nba there should certainly be a spot for Melo as you eluded to in your original post. You have to think about why so far there isn’t. I hardly think it’s because his talents are not worth it... it’s the strong chance that his attitude toward the game is still the same after many years of him saying he’s changed. Melo used to be good with dropping 35 in a losing effort....he was that guy for years. That’s there for everyone to see. a few players have confirmed this already. J.R smith and big shot are just the tip. Where there is smoke there is usually fire....We’re just gonna have to agree to disagree here. Cause i can like you and don’t want to ball with you... he played a huge part in what is happening to him right now. Im not gonna blame this on gm’s and coaches. It’s starts with him. He had many chances to rebrand himself like Carter did. I’m 100 percent sure other vets talked to him a long the way as well.... I give him no excuses as to why he could easily produce more than carter could right now and doesn’t have a team to play with. There is no excuse for that. 30 Gm’s across the entire nba are black balling a hall a famer? All these players that think he’s a good teammate can’t vouch for him so that he can get on 1 of the 30 teams in the nba? Melo? ncaa champ. Draft class that contained wade, bosh, lebron. If ppl say they like him. It’s fake love then..... don’t say you like me. Show me... for Chauncey to say what he said at a time when he is trying to get back in the league... that’s dirty. If someone likes/ liked you as a team mate you don’t that....

@@xgnofearzthe10thgenlegend82 There's a lot of truth that I agree with in your last statement but you can't say that he doesn't deserve to be on a team based on his attitude as a teammate. Like you said, he's trying to take accountability for his past now and we as people mature as we age (most of the time). I feel that he's worth one last hurrah being that we can both agree that he's still got a substantial amount of game left in the tank....

Jordan retired around 40, Kobe 38, Kareem 42, Dr J at age 37 But these guys are at the top of their game when they retire. The NBA is young and fast now and I love the game but a lot of player need time time to get to there full potential. Remember sports is only 10% Physical. Sometime mental strength and development takes time.

I remember when Vince first came in the league I remember him at North Carolina. Him qnd his cousin Tracy McGrady was dominating the NBA. What he is doing is truly amazing. Him and TMac could jump out the building. He may have lost some athleticism but he re invented his game. He was no Kobe or Jordan but when he lost a step or two he reverted to a game that could still award him an NBA check!
