For an aircraft whose wartime life expectancy was a few weeks, this level of dedication to its restoration by this team is more than just an engineering project. It's a labour of love, and remembrance of those crews who did their bit, God rest their souls.

Thanks for the update Neville. The NX611 rear fuselage really is coming along. Dave and the guys have done an amazing job to get it looking like it is now. Well done to all of them and everybody else there at the centre for all their time and effort that they all continue to put into this restoration week by week. Great stuff. Interesting to see the B 25 having the RAF colours applied to her ready for filming. Looking forward to your next update. Happy Easter to you, your family and to everyone at the centre. 👍

Another good update Neville, they're getting on with NX611 very well it's progressing quicker than I had imagined, but of course they have the experience of doing the Doncaster rear fuselage now, and it is showing with the progress. And on that note.......Dave" I think Norm's been playing around the back end" I think you could have phrased that a bit differently mate !

15:01 It’s interesting how many different types of roundel there are. I never found out what they all mean and I was in the RAF for 22 years! I never was really aware of the colours shown on the tail until my 15th year when I received the “undetected crime “ medal and I stopped to think about the presence of the 3 colours that subtly were present on so many elements of RAF life. When we joined up we were given lectures, “general service knowledge” or GSK, can’t remember if they told us about the colours… my mind was probably elsewhere during the lectures 😂😂

Another great video Nev. Looking at them fitting the perspex and the skins - not much between a 20mm cannon shell or flak and anyone inside but still and incredibly strong structure.

Just a question: with the tail wheel frame members that were cracked in both Just Jane and the French Lancaster, do you send out bulletins to other restorers or the BBCF or the Hamilton (Canada) Lancaster groups to let them know what you find? It might be very helpful to others to know what to look for to prevent unnecessary failures; especially with the air worthy planes.

Those parts by the tail that have all cracked in the same place just scream for a design supplement to reinforce that area. I find it odd that the Lancasters were fitted with gun turrets - particularly the front, given that they were employed for night missions, while the USAAF handled the brunt with daylight missions.

Hi HH, I would think there will be a mod for this. Front turret, in summer time it only Dark for about 5 hours in GB, so at some time they would be flying in the light , so every little helps..
