Neville !, this is actually addressed to the gentlemen and lady (?) who do the physical work on the project. There may be days when these quires and questions may seem tedious, but rest assured that we appreciated the work you guys do as well as the insight, engineering, history, and first person anecdotes you provide. NO where on the web, or world, is there a site that gives this much pure enjoyment, no matter what level we are at. So...GOOD ON YA MATES!!!. And Neville, you're not too bad yourself young man.

Thanks again Neville. Just Jane will be in a far better condition than when she left the factory originally. The knowledge, skill and patience of Dave, Phil and company is astounding.

Fascinating!! 0.1mm clearance to prevent puckering by the expanding rivet. The knowledge needed to be an aircraft designer or engineer are astonishing.

Once again a wonderful update Neville, much appreciated 🙏 Heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the BBMF pilot who lost his life in the Spitfire crash at Coningsby, probably well known to many of the engineers working on Just Jane, sorry for your loss.

Awful to hear the news of the tragic death of the RAF BBMF Pilot after his Spitfire crashed today (Saturday just after midday). Thoughts and condolences to his family and loved ones. Per Ardua Ad Astra

Just a quick correction Neville, the Caterpillar Club isn’t actually anything to do with Martin-Baker, it is run by Irvin Air Chutes (now Irvin-GQ) the manufacturer of the parachute. It is awarded to anyone who has their life saved by an Irvin parachute. Keep up the good work!

Fascinating video. I like how they try to salvage as much material as they can to keep the aircraft as original as possible.

Neville, @28:20 they are explaining etch primer. The advances in paint technology (chemistry) in the last 30 years is incredible. I am restoring an airplane myself. I can tell you these new etch primers are fantastic compared to what was available (to me) in the 70s and worlds better than what was used in the 40s. This Lancaster should be able to fight corrosion ten times better than when built new. Another excellent video, Sir.

I’ve worked in Martin Bakers and it very much has that “men in sheds” feel to it but my Lord do they produce some beautiful kit !

My late FIL was a member of the caterpillar club after bailing out of a Lancaster over Germany. His were one of the few complete crews that managed to all get out and survive.

Thanking you for another amazing video. I learn something new every week. As a ex Rolls Royce engineer who came from the shop floor, I actually made some parts for the Eagle engine which where all imperial Whit worth, BSF and BA threads.

When I was going to VoTech school in 1969 they were telling us that the US would be converting to Metric soon. Here it is almost 60 years later and we are still using imperial standards. Metric is so much easier to work with. Makes no sense to me.
