I was so priveliged to see the Canadian Lancaster come to the UK and subsequent flights of them both together at air shows. I hope we get to see THREE of these beautiful old ladies fly together as a wing! I truly hope the Canadians will return to to do this. Our aircrews deserve the tribute of all the work these people do, all my hopes are with you - from a retired RAF aircraft fitter. My old Land Rover is ex RAF shes 51! Theres no laboured cranking of these Merlins - these are BRITISH and go 'on the button'! The pride that went into every single rivet that went into aircraft during the war and still continuing. I must make the long trip back to 'Bomber County' to pay my respects sadly the station I did my 'suare bashing' at is now a retail park :...(.. Per Ardua Ad Astra Just Jane!! Want to know what a NEW Lancaster looked like kids........there ya go! What must it have sounded like with HUNDREDS of these taking off..........?

Sorry meant to add @ 11:35 that other Lancaster nose section reminded me of a volunteer team like yourselves at the British Columbia Aviation Museum who traced an identical aircraft that was in bits and had been in outside display. They shipped it to BC and I have been following their work as well. They had volunteers but as they intend to restore it to flying condition they had to go through a lot of training before they even started. Of course Canada has a special attachment to the Lancaster (as VERA proves) as many were built there and so many brave young Canadians (and Americans enlisted in the RCAF) flew them. This is their latest report but its worth looking further back on their channel to see where they started. kzread.info/dash/bejne/kamLxbOjmtW4e9Y.html

I was there yesterday and managed to ask Andrew Panton the same question.. They had ordered a new fuel price pump part (fuel cock?) 10 months ago as they thought the one that fed Engine 1 was going to fail. It has, finally. They hope to get the new part in a few weeks so I imagine that engine will be back in action soon.
