    The level of detail gone into the characters emotions was actually pretty impressive. Like, for most of it, you could only see the eyes of any character, and yet you could still see the pain on their face of the loss of the escort. The determination and struggle of trying to pull out of the dive. It's probably just me but I feel like that makes this even better and more underrated

    Yep, so true that the Japanese government still officially pays yearly tributes to a couple dozen certified war criminals in the eyes of the rest of the world, which leads their contemporary allies such as South Korea to express recurring objections to the ceremonies each time, and so despite their larger entente vis à vis China & NK. Not to mention quite a number of anime that depict the Japanese empire in 39-45 as the good guys.

    @@CariedRanger what do you even mean ? "Pandora's box" ? start by holding your horses as this is no tribunal, rather a youtube post. First off You assume doubly wrong, I'm neither. Speaking english does not necessarily means I come from said countries. Second, what exactly makes you think I do not blame both countries for their respective dirty deeds in their history as well? I merely wanted to illustrate the OP's point with the Japanese case. Member of the Axis during WW2 honoring its own heroes while the other side considers them war criminals. Besides, considering what they did during the war (namely the beginning of a genocide in China, among other things), there is no question they absolutely were big time offenders. Now yes, the Allies also had the share of war crimes during their counter-offensives, for instance in Dresden with their massive indiscriminate bombings of the whole city. Nothing inherently incompatible in claiming both. But yeah, Imperial Japan had a nutcase illuminate new world order ideology that entails mass murder of entire regions of neighboring China and Korea, none of which posed any direct threat against Japan to begin with. And the fact that some of their people still honor and celebrate key military leaders with a record of mass slaughter during that war is indeed an issue to me. And to dozens of millions of Asian descendants that had their ancestors fall to their madness at the time. I have a million issues with both he UK and the US, but I certainly have no qualms celebrating the Axis defeat in their time.

    Interesting technical models used, gave it a good feel. The short story feeling is well framed. The overall feeing of the dropping of what I feel is heavily implied to be a nuclear weapon, or something similar is different than the real world context of the weapons usages. The frame of one of the planes is definitely a BF109 template, but couldn't place the other against what I know. Isn't easily gonna fool anyone who recognizing the BF109 model, and the colors the Germans preferred with their monoplane fighters, but the music, the dialogue, all combines to give a deceptive feel. Definitely didn't see that ending coming, very well done! Rewatching it, there are subtle hints here and there, for me it being the fronts of the fighters looking kinda similar to the Me 109 and Hurricane

  • @2020Max1

    @2020Max1

    The ending was pretty easy to predict if you know anything about WW2 aircraft. The bomber was styled after the German Ju-88 and the escorting fighter was a combination of the Bf/Me-109 and a Ju-87. The intercepting fighters were modeled after the Hawker Hurricane. Even the fighter jets near the end appeared to be modeled after the Panavia Tornado which was developed by the Germans in conjunction with Italy and the UK.

    @@2020Max1 It seems you dont know very much about WW2 Fighters!And wich Ju 88 you talking about???There may be a SLIGHT similarity about the fighter with a Me 109,but in reality it looked more Japanese!The Bomber could have been even a Polikarpov!If you can only think in stereotypes,then maybe the end was predictable!

  • @2020Max1

    @@williwass6837 Maybe you should try looking for comparisons with your eyes open. @0:08 that twin tail section and fuselage is undoubtably modeled after the Do-17. @0:42 those engine cowlings are Ju-88's without the large cone spinners on the prop. In the same scene the nose is the same shape as a Ju-88 only it is skinned in metal instead of plexiglass. @0:52 the cockpit canopy looks very similar to the Hs-129. @0:58 a better shot of the Do-17 pencil fuselage and tail structure, and a better shot of the Ju-88 engine nacelles - @3:12 the yellow paint on the engine cowl is typical for German bombers in their early war paint scheme. @3:15 both the Ju-88 and Do-17 carried oversized bombs in this configuration when they didn't fit in the bomb-bay. At this point I think that I've made my case for the German inspiration behind the bomber. @1:05 that fighter fuselage is straight up a Bf/Me-109 unmistakably from the shape of the engine cowl to the shape of the cockpit canopy, with the tail appearing to be the prototype tail from an Fw-190 any resemblance to a Japanese plane is likely because some of Japan's mid to late war designs were derived from German aircraft designs even so in this instance it wouldn't invalidate my point since Germany, Japan and Italy were all Axis powers. @1:18 again unmistakably a Bf/Me-109. The only odd thing about it is the position of the wings which drop below the fuselage but that's because @1:38 we see that it has a gullwing design like the Ju-87. @2:32 is another good view of the Ju-87 gullwing as well as a better view of what would be the Ju-87 radiator inlet cowl. As far as the enemy (Allied) fighters go @2:15 unmistakably that is modeled after the British Hawker Hurricane @2:26 even the rake of the main wing looks like the Hurricane and to a lesser extent the Spitfire. @4:00 the fighter jets appear to be modeled after the Panavia Tornado which was developed jointly by Germany, Italy and the UK. Sorry but I didn't see any Russian design queues in any of the aircraft. Maybe there should be though because Russia has more or less been an authoritarian dictatorship since the early 1920's anyway. Class is over...now move along.
