    Interesting to note that despite vehicles already being expensive, manufacturers are still hiking prices instead of coming up with incentives to assist buyers.

    They will have to reduce prices eventually, but at the moment they are still dragging the excuses of microchip shortages, "record demand" and inflation to see how far they can stretch. VW has kept prices the same for Touareg but included previously optional packs in the price now, Audi are discounting cars for EOFY, LC300s aren't too hard either now.

    The Automakers rushing towards BEVs needs to find funding in ICE to support their BEV production. The same with BEV incentives, funded by ICE taxes. Even Tesla with shady finances it's struggling with demand. If BEVs are so great, stop all incentives and start taxing them as ICE and let the market decide.

    Agree with James, would love the option to see a better heads up display on lower spec Everest and Ranger. VW had the better idea putting a better screen in its utes.

    Anyone know if rav4 2025 going to be a phev or not ? Apparently I have a rav 4 2024 xse awd coming in soon but wondering if I should wait for the 2025 which is the new generation and is phev coming in 2025 so I can take advantage of lease benefits which ends Mar 2025 question's 🫤 🤔

    Some general feedback for the panel. When answering questions be decisive and don't sit on the fence. Too many wishy washy answers which ultimately indicate you don't know. That's ok, just say that. Or be prepared before the show. Good conversation otherwise.

    I have a Discovery Sport (Petrol) and can confirm it has loads of space. It’s a brilliant all round vehicle and it can off-road and tow in confidant comfort. Land Rover have had the ability to reverse park with a trailer (parallel park even) with a rotary dial on the Discovery since at least 2019. Not sure if others have it. Please note that buying an EV does NOT reduce your impact. It’s only greener while driving. The lifetime greeness isn’t very remarkable at all. In fact it’s quite abysmal.

    Auto Hi-Beam should be an ADR safety compliance requirement. Similarly with forward/reverse AEB and Cross Traffic Alert.

  • @RodneyW

    @RodneyW

    These technologies do not work as well as you think. Cross-traffic alert is very often over-sensitive. Auto hi-beam is too insensitive when following another car. The better option is for drivers to pay attention to what they are doing.

    PHEVs sales are up how much! Thats why you left the sock-less one out this week?? In all seriousness I would like to hear any technical reasons why not to purchase a PHEV, the only dealers who knock them are the brands that don't have one to sell and their arguments all seem cost related. Time to stand by your statements guys (Scott)…. good show btw.

    I read some recent numbers in relation to Ai taking over Jobs in Australia in coming years, ( hospitality is one) fortunately the tradies will come out unscathed due to robotic industry is not assembled as such. My point being Australia is a large continent to travel, our utes are required for work and pleasure, I’m actually relieved to hear Teslas are dropping off, as this sounds like a litmus test to our lifestyles overall. My father drove a ute all my life from the 1970s as did many men of this era 😎

  • @AeroDr

    Utes are definitely dropping in sales as Covid-era measures like instant write off expired last year. Plenty of dealers are advertising Hilux in stock now, and dealers have plenty of RAMs stuck in warehouses. And as government projects get to completion, this will accelerate. Like Metro Tunnel in VIC in late 2024, and as stages complete, workers are already being shed. The West Gate Tunnel is also approaching completion in 2025, and that's another few thousand tradies that will be let go over the next year. It will leave the North East Link as the only major infrastructure project under construction. Housing construction is in the absolute pits, and there's little change any major works will start for SRL any time soon.

And until now , haven't seen Chinese cars with 200k on board. I have in my family a lot of conventional producer cars, that we are sure that they are running. Maybe in 10 15 years when I'll see a Chinese car with 200 300k

    The main issue here is that the RAV4 is and always has been a rubbish vehicle. Not the first time a rubbish vehicle has been a leader. Corolla had the same issue. The masses like cheap boring lacklustre vehicles. Always have. Highest selling of anything is almost never the best.

  • @RogerM88

    There's a reason why the Toyota RAV4 and Corolla are best sellers. People as mainstream value their money, and want a reliable means of transportation, with low devaluation.

    @@lukewarm2075 Many people when looking for a new car in a certain segment, if the Toyota model is at a similar price range, they will go with it, even if they are very common, due the above average reliability as lower depreciation rates. The more you leave urban areas, the more Toyota cars you can spot.
