Vessagiriya or Presmanaramaya is a Buddhist monastery complex situated in an area of ​​about 20 acres near Isurumuniya Vihara. It is said that Vessagiriya got its name because 500 people of the Vaishya or Trade caste took ordination from Mihidu Maharahatahathanvanse and lived here. It is also speculated that Vishwasgiri later became Vessagiriya because Ravana's grandfather Vishvrasmuni lived here. Vessagiriya is considered to be a hiding place of King Varagamba who fled due to the Tamil invasion. Here, in the rock caves on the rock, you can clearly see how the large blocks of stone are covered with several small pieces of stone. These look like stone traps. There are 32 stone caves here. Next to the katarams are inscribed the names of those who offered them in Brahmi character. AD In 473-491, King Kasyapa restored Vessagiriya and sacrificed the two daughters named Bo Upulvan. වෙස්සගිරිය හෝ ඉස්සරසමනාරාමය ඉසුරුමුණිය විහාරය අසල පිහිටි අක්.20 ක පමණ ප්‍රදේශයක පිහිටි බෞද්ධ ආරාම සංකීර්ණයකි. ක්‍රි .පු.307- 267 කාලයේ රජ කළ දේවානම්පියතිස්ස රජු සමයේ මිහිදු මහ රහතන් වහන්සේගේ ආගමනයත් සමග බෞද්ධ විහාර ආරාම ඉදිකිරීමට පියවර ගෙන තිබෙනවා. වෛශය හෙවත් වෙළඳ කුලයේ 500 ක් දෙනා මිහිදු මහ රහතන් වහන්සේගෙන් පැවිදිවී මෙහි වාසය කළ නිසා වෙස්සගිරිය නම් ලද බව කියවෙනවා. එසේම රාවණාගේ සීයා විශ්ව්‍රස්මුණි මෙහි වාසය කළ නිසා විශ්‍රවස්ගිරි පසුව වෙස්සගිරිය වූ බවටද මතයක් පවතී. වෙස්සගිරිය ද්‍රවිඩ ආක්‍රමණය නිසා පලාගිය වළගම්බා රජු සැගවුන ස්ථානයක් ලෙස ද සැලකෙනවා. මෙහි පර්වතය මත පිහිටි ලෙන් වල විශාල ගල් කුට්ටි කුඩා ගල් කැබලි වලින් රදවා ඇති ආකාරය පැහැදිලිව දැකගත හැකිය. මේවා ගල් උගුල් වැනිය. මෙහි ගල් ලෙන් 32 කි. ඒවා පූජා කල අයගේ නම් කටාරම් අසල බ්‍රාහ්මී අක්ෂර වලින් කොටා ඇත. ක්‍රි .ව.473-491 දී කාශ්‍යප රජතුමා විසින් වෙස්සගිරිය ප්‍රතිසංස්කරණය කර දියණියන් දෙදෙනා වන බෝ-උපුල්වන් නම්න් පූජා කර තිබෙනවා. ..ඉසුරු මෙනු බෝ උපුල්වන් කසුබ් ගිරි රද් මහ වෙහෙර්... මෙහි ගල් කුට්ටි කපන ලද ස්ථානයක් හා ගල කැපීමට සූදානම් කළ විදුම් ලකුණු ඇති පර්වත දැකිය හැකිය.
