Very unusual ore pocket full of crystals in the gold mine!
Checking on a spot in the Blue Chip Gold mine that showed some promise in previous sampling, I exposed a ore pocket that blew my mind! Not for the gold, but for the beautiful, fully formed, clear quartz crystals. And yes it had gold too. I ended up recovering crystalline gold and a many quartz points as well as clusters.

@@Danhurd I agree. I love your videos. Reminds me of my dad. We used to pan for gold in California. He had a gigantic slab of ore covered in fools gold and other crystals. I don't know what happened to it but I miss it.

Man… one of these days, I’ll have my very own trippy drippy gold mine… livin’ th’ dream, Dan!
Wow, this is truly an amazing find! It's not every day that you come across an ore pocket filled with such stunning crystals. The variety and clarity of the crystals is simply breathtaking. It's clear that a lot of time and effort was put into extracting these precious gems from the mine. The person filming the video did a great job capturing all the details and showcasing the beauty of these crystals. It's a testament to the wonders that can be found hidden underground. This video is a true treasure for anyone who loves minerals and gems. Great job!

Excellent work Dan and thanks for adding in a new feature for us to look forward to! GLOTD!! Yay!
An old miner saying "Gold rides the iron horse" Thanks Dano
Geology is as fascinating as the Earth is Large. Nice vid Dan! Good looking out for those unstable rocks! Keep yourself safe first!
I do like the geology lessons Dan, keep them coming and thanks for sharing.
Thank you Dan. Another great video. A little concerned about you being in those places, ALONE!
What fun! Almost didn't need the GLOTD, your description of the quartz vein network was a great lesson in itself. Quartz crystals and gold muck together though, wonderful!
Thanks for the content Dan! I always loved my geology classes in high school and college. I wish life would have lead me in the geology direction... but alas I didn't take that turn in life. I'm 34 with a wife and three children that need me to feed and shelter them. So I work with my hands. One day they'll be old enough to fend for themselves while I take some cool adventures. For now I will watch you and pioneer Pauly and vogus prospecting!

My 10 year old boy says he wants to be a geologist after watching your channel! 😁👍 He is already fascinated by rocks but you've tipped him over the edge 🙏
Exploring caves and your claim in general are my favorite of the episodes you make.
I'm addicted to your videos, I absolutely love watching and learning!!
Old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here: Thanks Dan for a "mid winter blues" video. Lived in Bellingham, WA for 12 years...seeing your locations makes me so homesick! That smell and color you described is beautiful to me!
I’m so proud of you and your journey. I appreciate that you share your passion and wisdom with all of us.😇
Thanks Dan, I always learn something new from your videos. I've enjoyed them for years. You're the best.
I live in Alberta. I always chuckle at your comments about "brutal" winters were you live. Come try a Prairie Winter and you'll know quickly your winters are mild. I love your segments. They are educational and fun to watch! Thanks
Thanks for the geology lesson. Always good to learn something first thing in the morning.

The geologic information is appreciated.
Love that beautiful snow quartz!
😁👋👍👍👏👏💕🙏🏻 It was funny that you picked the rust. To do a geology lesson on. was wondering about it earlier in the episode. Thank you for covering it specifically.
The Geology lesson is awesome, please continue those!! Always learning something new on your channel!! Thank you!! 🥰
My favorite part of this video was the GLOTD. "Sulfides = metal in sulfur"
Loved the quartz crystals & GLOTD
That rock you were digging under maybe if you drill into it and put the spikes in it you might drop the bottom of the rock out and see what's behind it it may have a lot of quartz crystals just a thought thanks for the video🇨🇦🇨🇦🙄😬

I'm sure Dan would have thought of that. Did not look like he had all his equipment with him this trip
Great tour of the mine, loved it.
Nice job Dan hope to see lots more with as much geology as possible
I love the short geology lessons. It makes me understand what I'm looking at much better and thus I'm enjoying the videos even more!
What a cool site! That little quad of yours sure is a workhorse!
This is my favorite video so far!!! Loved it!!!
Hey Dan, mineral exploration geologist here. I live on the east coast of Canada so there is still lots of snow here. Always love watching your videos. If you're ever interested in talking about geology please let me know. P.S. the sister company to the one I work for has gold projects in southern B.C. (near Nelson and Vernon).
I would love to see you and Jeff Williams, Jason and Brent. Jeff's a geologist and I bet he'd love to show you all sorts of things. As always good luck and God bless. Be safe out there.
Thank you Dan.learned alot..I found a Rock I've never seen before and pretty shere, no one has ever seen?..
Thanks Dan 🍻👍
Awesome video Dan, love the geology lesson too. God bless, take care and thank you for sharing 👍🙏❤️
Dan and I were born in the same city in British Columbia. This is making me more interested in geology.
yes keep the geology lessons coming. Fun to watch you at the Blue Chip
I can't wait to see more gold and crystals from the Blue Chip Mine.
You earned my support friend. So wholesome.
You sir are a gentleman and a scholar and we thank you.
It's great to see that some folks really enjoy what they do! I have absolutely no knowledge of mining, but your videos are very informative, and entertaining as well! Thanks for look inside of your world. One of these days I'd like to try my hand at hard rock mining, but at 54 and with failing health, I'll just live vicariously through you. Thanks again for the fun videos!
Excited for blue chip mine series

At the 10,000 year-old glacial moraine I'm exploring in NJ, there are many heavily-weathered pieces of quartz with those open holes where sulfide crystals oxidized to rust and wore away over the millennia exposed to air and water.
Great idea on the geology lessons. Looking forward!
You can blast the ledge with widow makers using tannerite and a model rocket engine ignition and remote trigger.

I have an even keener respect for my crystals after watching you work to get to them. We have “red” mud in Hawaii too! ( part of why you better not wear your slippers in the house) get one broom planted on your behind! 🌸V
Ooh Dans on, time for my weekly fix, like it before I even watch it!!
That was awesome thank you Dan! From Down Under 💖
+1 for the GLOTD bits!
Geology class is cool, looking foward to next!!!!
Hi!! I enjoyed the geology/chemistry lesson! I used to find iron pyrite near an old quarry when I was a kid. I never knew there might be real gold there too. The mine is fascinating. Glad there was no bears.. this time. Stay safe. HUGS
You make me miss my home! Foresthill California. You could be in my backyard. I'm in New York now ordering pay dirt just to have a taste of wheat you're enjoying right now. I'm jealous. But grateful you're sharing your experience with us. I do feel better. Thank you so much
Always fun watching your videos. Reminds me of rock hounding / prospecting with my dad when i was a kid. Might have even been poking around that area where you are at, kinda looks like the hill west of Agassiz.
Every vid you do Dan, is a good one, thanks m8
Nice little crystal's you are going to have a great mine there gold and crystal oh my six stars sir
Jason carries 50 kilograms (110 POUNDS) out, Dan carries 50 kilograms out? There's a video I would watch (please stress the safety issues). I am impressed.
Found a quartz seam similar to that in shale when Folsom Lake was really low. Nice crystals in it. Haven't been able to relocate it during other low level periods.
It sure looked like you had an awesome time at the Gem show.
Like the geology lesson. Along with the ore hunt.
Looked like a shot from the old gold rush days when your light went out!✌️
I'm glad you use LBs also.
One of my favorite shows
Great video man. Such a cool place
Sounds like a good Opportunity to call up Frank from Exploring Abandoned Mines, and get him to bring over some ropes and scaling equipment. The mine might be a bit small for their exploration though, haha.
great job i need to find me a mine of my own
Right Dan is the man
Great show..
Maybe where you are, it has been a bad winter, but up here in NY state we seem to have been getting very mild winters with a couple of late winter snow storms. Even so, the weather is warmer than usual and yesterdays snow will be all gone by the weekend.
Keep the lessons coming! Yay science!
It not only geology lesson but a laundry lesson too!
Great Video!!!
Very beautiful 🔮

You can use a hook from above but be ready to let go. The top will fall and bring the rest down. I did it in the Highlands to protect road. Chain mail type fencing to stop rocks falling on road. Many cars get taking out.. And cyclists
i love the geology lessons!!!
So now you have a list, Dan, lol!
Don’t know why, but I love the small broken crystals. To me they are beautiful 😊
So much for there being "no straight lines in nature".
Great video. Glad you are out in the field. Like you said, not a bad day for January! Since you have some crystals from the quartz vein, maybe you should give them to a geologist and have them make some thin sections. Then they can look for fluid inclusions and tell you quite a bit about the solution they formed from. Gold would be visible in thin section if it's there.
