I've never understood what the trimmer was for. Thank you so much for making it so much easier! I've been there before where I know a clip, but I don't when it is! This is gonna help so much!

I have a question. On the trimmer tab, the track will not become bigger for me. The symbol doesn't show up where you can drag its positions up or down. I have gone to all different kinds of settings and still haven't gotten it to work. I was wondering if you knew how to fix this?

this feels very common im having the same issue so is my friend and theres a bunch of comments here that say the same thing and yet I cannot for the life of me find the fix for it? obviously its possible if his video is anything to go by - please let me know if you found the fix!

@@Momoriex3 I am trying to remember how I figured it out. This may have been it. Click options, then click preferences. Click the tab general, and scroll all the way down and make sure these are checked, "always draw marker lines," and "allow edit curser to be dragged." If this doesn't work tell me.

How did you make the audio on the trimmer vertically bigger?

I never have one long video to edit. It's always done in shots. I'm curious what makes this any faster than trimming in the time line and making something a subclip and renaming it there? Thanks

A useful tidbit would be whether subclips can be expanded to include more of the original clip or whether one needs to include everything they MAY want to use in the final edit.

Yes, that would have been great to add. Yes, a sub clip can NOT be expanded back to it's original clip size or any length past the cut. So you are wise to suggest cutting the largest possible usable piece.

Man, amazing! I am new to Vegas pro and trying to get some videos dedicated to video gaming up. This has been amazing! Subscription for you, as I know how much it means to youtubers (being one myself).

Hi! I'm having a issue with the trimmer. When I place my mouse between the audio and the video footage I'm unable to resize the audio bar. I'm also unable to zoom in and out - I have tried using the + and - buttons, the arrow keys, and the mouse with no success. Any tips?

I'm sorry I don't know but can you help me with something, I just got Vegas pro17 when I try trimming something and delete it there is just a black screen so then I drag the rest of the video to the other clip so there is no void but then the clip I deleted is back again. Confusing but I've been looking it up all day just cant find a video

I looked up this because I just changed computer and got another version of Vegas but for some reason I can't make the audio part in the trimmer bigger?

zoom in and out in trimmer its not working with mouse scroll or + and - the timline cant make it big. there is no option for scroll like you have. its very hard to reim because no time ruler and its very small window to know what i need to trim :(

Okay you said to ask any question, let's say you've got multiple video tracks in your timeline and you sink them all up but you want to trim all of them, how do you trim them all at the same time or do you have to trim each track individually and line them up again I hope I explain this in a way that you understand what I'm saying . by the way I really enjoy the way you explain things you make it easily understandable.

Great video! Any idea why I can’t make the audio channel bar larger? The arrow tool doesn’t show up when I hover between the video & the audio. It really sucks. :/

my trimmer is not playing whats on my timeline ?? i literally just installed vegas and done something so now it is just a black screen and isnt showing whats on my timeline ? Please help mate

Are these clips just artifacts that are part of the veg project file or new mp4 (or other format) files? I just started playing with it tonight. Still all a bit confusing to me. How does this relate if you converted your imported media to a proxy file? Thanks PS. do you give private lessons?

off the top of my head, I think the're just .veg file only since there's no render required. It's just a pointer to a smaller part of a bigger file. As for the lessons, I have two things that are close to private lesson. My udemy course includes the ability to ask me questions too, also in my patron, there's a tear where I'll critique a video for you with comments on what's good and what's bad. Feel free to keep asking me questions!

I want to try out vegas pro 18. but there are 2 main things i need it to do. is it possible to trim multiple video clips in the timeline? for example, i have 20 clips in th etimeline and i want to trim the first 2 seconds and last 2 seconds of each clip. Also i would like to ask if i can fade between multiple clips?

hey how do you drag all of the videos past after you trimmed in the first section cuz I have a lot of different videos and then just trimmed it then trimmed but it gets difficult to move the videos after I cut some in the earlier parts

i have a question, i’m new to all of this and i was just editing but i keep trying to delete a clip from my timeline and it won’t let me, the delete option is gray and i cannot click on it, and suggestions as to what i should do?

This is hugely useful. I had used FCP X and didn't realize Vegas also has subclips. When doing nested projects, do the subclips exist within the one nest? I'm thinking about organization of media in complex edits.

Can't wait, that's a really important topic and I have only scratched the surface myself. I wish more tutorials focused on actual use cases, not just one tip at a time (as nesting, subclips, tags, etc. can work together intelligently I think).

@@rsmith02 overtime, I hope to implement more holistic videos. The issues facing smaller channels like myself is, most of our views come from video suggestions or searches. So if the tip can't be boiled down to a title that explains the concept, then it's dead. I tried making a video about Dietetic transition usage... died on the vine. It simply doesn't algorithm.

I understand. Maybe the use case can be the thing? "5 tips to make music videos in Vegas Pro 17" "How I made a documentary in Magix Vegas", etc? I made the same suggestion to Magix and they liked it, so perhaps they can support this approach with marketing or revenue? (I don't understand Dietetic transition either. Not enough insulin? jk)

Mts to my knowledge should hook both audio and video when you import it. Double check the source file

Trimmer is not present in Movie Studio 17 too, but there´s no way to bring it back like in this video. Does anybody know how to use it, or was it perm removed from Movie Studio?

I'm saving subclips and idk where are they, im looking for them and i cant see them. Using vegas 16.

They should be in your All media tab

Try to exit out of the window and add it back from the "view" toolbar

Is there a way to edit in the clip on the left of the screen instead of having to open the trimmer? Like FCPX?

You can actually size it by mouse hovering over a clip in your project media. It will highlight then a smaller section you can grab and put on the timeline

And then, when I drag and drop a .mpg, I get video but no audio I love when you come out of the door stand next to yourself. I tried that. Have a look at buddythecat141 on KZread you’ll see double vision test

That's my go to video effect! Another thing to try is right clicking and dragging to the timeline then selecting add "video and audio"
