VEDIC SANSKRIT LANGUAGE

Welcome to my channel! This is Andy from I love languages. Let's learn different languages/dialects together.
Special Thanks to Koushik Kumar Vaddi
Vedic Sanskrit is the ancient dialect in which the Vedas, collections of hymns composed around 3,500-2,700 years ago by Indo-Aryan immigrants, were written. These hymns remain significant in Hinduism today, preserved through oral tradition. Regional recitation styles, known as śākhās, emerged over time, leading to some distortion of the original pitch accents and poetic meter. However, ancient grammarians detailed the Vedic pitch accent system, which, when applied, restores the original recitation style. Vedic Sanskrit holds importance in Indo-European historical linguistics due to its antiquity and similarity to other ancient Indo-European languages. The speakers of Old Indo-Aryan were nomadic pastoralists who settled in Northwest India, following a polytheistic Vedic religion. Vedic Sanskrit of the Ṛgvedá and the Classical Sanskrit of the Epic Mahābhārata, differ in terms of vocabulary, syntax, accentuation, pronunciation, and the usage of archaic tenses as much as Modern English differs from Shakespearean English.

Incredible. I can see why the discovery of the Indic languages was the final push for philology to become proper historical linguistics as we know it today. The similarities are so striking.

I’m sure there are other words that will jump out at me if I pay attention but that one just really grabbed me.

I really like Cambodian music by singers like Sinn Sisamouth and Ros Serey Sothea, and I have noticed a few words that were of Indo-European origin. Apparently tara (តារា) (star) also comes from Sanskrit. That’s the first one that I thought of. Also youvochon (យុវជន) sounds like the word in the video that means young/adolescent male, so I wonder if there’s a connection there too.

But at least the Rig Vedic text according to historians is very old, definitely compiled around 1.200 BC in the Kuru region now Haryana, and for thousands of year it was only memorized from generation to generation. Although with slight changes. Meanwhile Homers ancient Greek poetry was also memorized and composed around 700 BC and written down later. But historians also think that Homer poetry also changed in subsequent times.

@@sahilsingh6048 Nah , the Vedic people probably knew of writing, since they were in contact with Tamils and Persians and the remnants of Harappa. It's just that they despised using writing for holy texts and important documents since: 1. Anyone can get secret information through illegitimate means . 2. Writing down decrees, especially religious ones, makes it easy for society to become rigid, or make people easily adulterate scriptures ( the latter is the reason for Sati, the letter gri was changed to gne, ) The Harappans shared a similar dislike for writing, which is why we can't decipher the script, as all inscriptions are too short

I see you kanging so much about this language , even ignoring that majority of kashmiri DNA is still native indian derived eventhough they have fair skinn but your comments are really cringe.

*sanskrit is an artificially concocted language of late gupta period in the 6th century AD.* Lord Siva was a Sambava Pariah. He was the 1st pandian Tamil king. The Damaru is the Tamil Parai Music instrument. Siva has no connection whatsoever to sanskrit. Saiva siddhandam is Anti-Aryan philosophy. *Chandasa was the language of the nomadic illiterate aryan vedic people. sanskrit is not an ethnicity, regional languages are. Please dont fool the world with fake cooked up artan stories. The world is fed up.*
