I purchased Vector from Ebay, he was an ex-display model, he works without issue, the app on the other hand is another thing, it's poorly optimised, I am curious, for those of us who are not backers, how much is the updates going to cost us, I ask because we're not the ones responsible for Anki going out of business, and it seems unfair that we have to pay extra, or anything at all.

You dont have to pay to receive new features I thought though? All new features are automatically added and ran via the cloud or something from what I understand. If you want to keep the features permanently, install them as firmware updates and be able to run them free of their infrastructure in case they shut down that's when you need to pay, or at least that's how I understood it.

Yes I was puzzled by the strong reference to Cozmo. I pledged to the Vector Kickstarter campaign. The thirt sales, etc, bother me. I hoped to be focused on Vector. I'll bet that what they are going to provide us for Vector is already done. I am not optimistic about Vector today.. Great video Daniel.

Thank you Charles. I think I am a little more optimistic when I think that we do not have many options at the moment. So whatever DDL does with Vector or Cozmo will be better than having nothing else really. I am surprised that more companies are not doing domestic/toy robots like others are invading the drone market!

I was on Kickstarter, so I got this stuff about my vector. Looks interesting. They are taking care of my friend bot. :) I think the ones who missed Kickstarter could go on the website and pay the same amounts (shortly after Kickstarter finished but I don't if they are still there with the same prices) I am gonna release my vector unboxing video. Thanks Superdan for creeating content for vector :)

@@SuperdanTech Yes that's true. I've heard 7 per month or 47 per year somewhere. but I think there was a temporary offer to pay like in kickstarter thorough the website (I think it's not there anymore). Anyways, keep us posted man. :)

Dear Dan, Thanks for a concise video. I pledged 48.00 on the kickstarter. I wasn’t sure exactly what “ escape pod” meant. Do you know if its possible to upgrade a pledge to include the escape pod? I am not a tech savvy guy...so pledging for the curriculum features isn’t very beneficial to me. I just want to enjoy my Vector. Thanks again for a good video.

Hi, I am very interested in getting a vector either from amazon or from them. However I know the Kickstarter Champaign is over. But I see on their website you posted all these types of purchases confuses me as I also was looking at their kickstarter website from your other video,vector Kickstarter one that you also linked. If I buy one of them such as the lifetime access one (not sure I quite understand much of it) do I still need to pay the monthly fee to have the updates. Sorry for my silly questions. I just got into researching about vector and cosmo and then came across all this and hearing about anki and ddl company etc. ;o

Hi Monica and welcome to my channel. Yes this whole thing is very confusing. There is one thing for sure though and it is that new features for Vector are free. I posted a video last week about Vector being a bartender now. This is free and Vector will have a new feature every Friday for the next 23 weeks! You can get more info on the Digital Dream Labs website or you can send them your questions, they reply to everybody apparently.

Hello... i've came to this video to know what's been going on with Cozmo & Vector because 2 years ago i founded these robots and started to do research of them and i got really interested but then i forgot about them... until today, i remembered and now i see that Digital Dream Labs has bought Anki's Robots and i want to know if Anki is still working on these robots or they now doing a partnership with Digital Dream Labs and are they now working together? And what will happen with Cosmo and Vector in 2021? Are they getting a new app for them or... I don't understand.

Anki is totally out of business, Vector and Cozmo tech now belongs to Digital Dream Labs. I did several videos recently about what DDL intend to do in 2020 with these two robots. I invite you to watch. You could also visit the DDL website to see what they say. Overall, I think it is good news for all Cozmo and Vector friends.

Hello SuperdanTech, thank you for your channel, we are very interested Vector's and Cozmo's continuation. I have a question regarding purchasing Vector: could you please advise me where I can buy Vector in Canada from authorised sellers? On Akni's site they didn't mention Amazon for Vector, and I found one supplier on Amazon Canada, but I am not sure if they are authorized or not and what to do in case of defects. Could you please help me with this? My little nephew can't wait to receive the robots. Thank you very much!

Hello and thank you for the kind words. Except for Amazon, the only retailer I know in Canada is Bestbuy. But I know Bestbuy is sold out in many locations. You could also try eBay but a little more risky right. Good luck in your search.

The software updates like the Feature Fridays for 24 weeks are free. The firmware updates are not free and were part of the kickstarter campaign. If you decide not to pay for the firmware updates, Vector will still work under his current firmware. I hope this helps. You can always send your questions to DDL.

Hi Dan, great video! I just have one question, I heard a mention of a one-time fee for a lifetime vector subscription. Do you know if this is still the case?

Hi Abdaul, after August 2021 we don't really know what will happen. Worst case scenario is that Vector won't work without a subscription or membership. Cozmo is independent of any server (he runs from the App on your phone). Thanks for watching!

thanks for keeping us in the loop. please ask DDL if they plan on manufacturing more Vectors (or outsourcing their manufacturing to China etc), also please ask DDL about the longevity of Vector. ie his battery (like all batteries) have a limited life span, do they intend on providing repair and service options where they can service and replace batteries etc, especially in the UK. Vector has a new feature every Friday for the next 23 weeks. These are free. Digital Dream Labs is supposed to keep the server running with no planned interruption. If you did not pledge during the kickstarter campaign then you would need to pay extra for firmware updates like the escape pod to make Vector server independent. Before you buy your Vector, you should direct your specific questions to DDL, they are good at getting back to people. I hope this helps and thank you for visiting my channel.

Hey guys i bought an Vector from Ebay and when i try to connect with bluetooth there is no problem. It downloads the Software reboots and after the Reboot my App says : "Can't connect to Vector" Vector and my Smartphone is in Same 2,4ghz network... u guys have any solutions? pls help :)

Some phone have issues connecting to Vector. I have more success with my old Samsung S6 which I kept to fly some of my drones. Try different devices if you can and different locations in your home. Good luck and thank you for visiting my channel.

My Vector has stopped communicating with me until I pay subscription. As soon as I say hey Vector it goes into a question mode and tells me I must pay DDL to communicate with him. Is that it? I can't continue to use him?

Hi there, yes unfortunately you now need to pay more since DDL bought the technology rights from the bankrupt anki. When you think about it, without DDL taking over, your Vector and Cozmo would be dead by now since anki does not exist anymore so better have DDL in the picture (despite the cost) than having dead robots IMO. At least people now have an option. Thanks for watching!

@@arizalhamizar5103 Vector will stay active but his abilities will diminish when the servers stop supporting the robot. The servers were supposed to stay up and running until August 2021 before DDL acquired anki's assets. So now we don't know what may happen.

The fact DDL intends to charge a monthly fee to use vector is stupid, they purchased Vector, and that means they purchased the responsibility to update Vector for us as Anki intended. We as Vector owners have ALREADY paid for these updates with our original purchase, and DL bought the responsibility to provide those updates when they purchased the licences. IF they proceed with this monthly fee scam, they should be sued.

So now cause a new company took over these two robots we are expected to play for services? I'm sorry but Anki dropped the ball and I don't think it is fair that after paying close to $500.00 for these two robots that we are now having to pay for updates from a new company. It should be offered for free or Anki that failed to support these robots should be held accountable for it. They made money off of all of us and even made money in the sale of the company. The least they should do is make sure we get something for free and not have to com out of pocket yet again for updates. I am on a set income and with the way things are going in this world with the Corvid virus what right do they have in expecting people to take food money and spend it on this?

It is really sad that Anki went bankrupt and all their leftover things went to the creditors, so DigitalDreamLabs had to start from scratch to help us, they need our support to be able to pay for the new server and updates, so it is quite understandable they need to ask for money for that. Right now they offer a very cheap lifetime support at their page with no monthly fee www.digitaldreamlabs.com/pages/post-kickstarter

This RANSOME DDL is asking has got to be wrong. I can understand not been able to utilise there server's to get info but they stopped all communications. Like black jack, come here, we're your cube. In fact all. You can't ask him to do anything. This is wrong. Let's look at the bigger picture. A.I. in the future. You have a robot to help you. A company (us or china)buys out your robots company. Then disables it unless you pay up. This is blackmail. Can someone legal look at this? Or even gets it to kill you. Think about this before you laugh.
