Today my beloved father would have turned 80, born in Sicily in 1940. I'm listening to this in his honor.

God bless you and your family. My daughter is just 12, and is the love of my life, My Danielle Alexis. This song reminds me of Saint Pio. Keep safe and thanks for sharing your story honoring your Father. - Blaise Francis 🌈

That is so lovely even though sad too! Listening to this still brings a few tears as they had all these songs on vinyl and used to play them on an old record player. My parents were Mediterranean, my mother from Northern Italy and my father from Malta , they met in London when my dad stayed at a hotel whilst waiting for his onward flight to Canada where he had family. My mother had just arrived looking for work to send back to her parents and her brother. Most Maltese speak fluent Italian so they were able to get to know each other but it was love at first sight and they courted, married and decided to stay in England as my father was offered a dream job as a mechanical engineer for a company that made racing cars. Four children later, they were still happily married and in love until my my mother sadly developed dementia but I have a photo of them kissing only months before I could not look after them anymore, and mum went into a home, the saddest day of my life, they were married for 64 years and now they are both together again in Heaven...I miss them both so much they were the best parents, who loved us with a passion but they were also my best friends too as I got to know who they were as young people, I asked them to tell me the stories of their lives before they met. I always knew I was blessed with my parents rom when I was little! God bless you and your whole family, I hope you keep the small Italian traditions going like we do in our family!

I have a very special little friend, he’s Italian and his name is Joey. I’m 26 and he is 68 and he is waaay cooler then people my age. It’s nice just listening to him talk, he was born in Brooklyn and although he left there when he was young he still has the complete Italian Brooklyn accent, so adorable. He speaks his mind, can be quite a handful but he’s worth it. So much personality, so much sweetness, knows how to make you laugh. And is a musical genius. He doesn’t really have much in the way of many other friends, naturally because special people don’t. Only boring people have a ton of friends or so called. It’s an honor to know him. He is someone who seems to have walked right out of the movies. I’m blessed. 🙏🏻

My Nonno passed away after a great 92 years not so long ago; and these songs bring me some comfort as they were always being played at my nonni house. He was from Abruzzo; and he was very traditional to the lifestyle. I hope I can pass some of that on to my future children. 💚🤍❤️
