This movie hit me in a way that not many movies have. "Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around." After watching this movie and hearing its message, I picked up the phone and made some changes in my life. I was someone living my life with some regret and this movie helped me turn it all around.

I truly believe this movie to be the most underrated, miss understood movie of all times. It is a beautiful film. It really, in short, tells you that doesn't matter how much money and success you may have, the best things in life are free. Also it speaks volumes on how not to mistreat others or it may come back to hunt you later on. And lastly, it speaks about how easy you can miss the most wonderful thing in life if you don't wise up and grasp it.

I must disagree with all the people saying ‘Abre los Ojos’/‘Open your eyes’ was better. I think Tom Cruise’s performance was stellar, as well as the character chemistry(David and Sofia)and their credibility, Cameron Diaz was excellent at conveying the obsession and despair of her character... But at the end of the day it’s all a matter of taste, watch both and judge for yourself. I’m grateful ‘Abre los ojos’ was ever made, but to me the real masterpiece is Vanilla Sky.

It was darker and creepier which made it intriguing, but in no other way is it better. Maybe a few better actors and certain scenes were better, but overall the movie pales in comparison to Vanilla Sky, especially the soundtrack and the entire ending sequence, and that's what pushed Vanilla Sky over the top and made it the movie it was. That's not insulting Abres Los Ojos at all which was quite good, it's just that Vanilla Sky was a much better remake and an absolute masterpiece.

This movie is very underrated. Now it has become somewhat of a cult classic. Released over a decade ago, people now are watching it for the first time and wondering how it missed their radar. I lend my copy to friends to watch and I never get tired of discussing it with them.

I watched this film in the summertime and didn't know what to think. But for some reason, I couldn't stop thinking about this movie for almost 6 months after my first viewing. After much thought, I decided to watch this movie again and I can safely say that I love it. No film has been able to impact me this much in a long long time. Wonderful movie!

I totally understand where you’re coming from! I think that we think about it so much because it resonates with every day life (leading people on; we never know what’s going on in someone else’s head no matter how they seem; money can’t buy happiness; the past can resurface when we try to move on from it; don’t play with peoples emotions because you can’t dictate how they’ll react; etc.)….

My favorite all-time movie. Every moment of it emphasizes a vital life lesson bathed in inspirational quotes, great acting, and cinematography that brings David Aimes Dream to life as well as his nightmares. It expresses the idea that one small thing can have a major impact on the outcome of someone's life. That love and loss, go hand in hand, and that you can't have one without the other. The loss that Aimes encounters due to that singular moment where he makes a bad decision that is so small in that instant but in hindsight, it is the moment that he lost everything stuck with me in my youth till now. I love how the world he dreamed up was a culmination of all that he loved in his life; His mothers vanilla sky, the therapist being the father figure he always wanted, the scene of his second chance at life with Sophia being based on an album cover that touched him as a child, and then Sophia the love of his life; who he barely knew in real life, and yet out of all of the things that he loved, His mind took those things and took the memory of that perfect night where he first met her and made a heaven out of it where she was at the center of it all. The sorrow of that heaven being an illusion, knowing that the real person died years ago and that to accept that means to lose her forever I can't think of a greater pain than the acceptance of that sort of loss that is all to common. But he comes to terms with reality not knowing what awaits him on the other side, he lets go of the dream and he wakes up. It's truly a beautiful movie that is overlooked extremely. The only movie that came close to this one in terms of sticking with me was "What Dreams May Come" with Robin Williams

One of the best movies I ever seen. Also a beautiful remake ever made. For those who says the original was better, it all depends on the way you see it. The original focused on making the plot more suspenseful and psychological (horror), while Vanilla Sky focused on the emotions and feelings of the characters. Vanilla Sky closely follows the exact plot and scenes of the original but it's way of delivery and cinematography is entirely different. Both movies give an entirely different experience. The Academy winning Director Cameron Crowe just tried take a different pathway for Vanilla Sky. Unlike the original, Vanilla Sky is a romantic - emotional (drama) movie.

But believe me : you have the ability to FEEEL POWERFULLY emotions, and that is a gift. With time, you will see that it will make you an extraordinary person, because you have empathy. And trust me, right now, in 2020, in this world that we are living : we're gonna need people like you. But I can understand that you feel relieved to see that there are other people like you who can feel like you do :) Movies and music are the best roads to find people that you belong with :)

I then turned on Netflix and this film was right there in front of me...I've gotten in that car so many times, self will run riot, like most of us have. The minute by minute choices we all face everyday is a split second choice that could lead to deverstated consequences. The real thing to understand is to really stay still and listen, you can actually feel in your body whether that choice is good for you or not. Even if its pulling at you and your so tempted, the freedom in saying enough or no is the best feeling I've ever felt in my life. Listen...think...chose...carefully.

I first watched this movie when I was like 13. So yeah, I didn't really understand it very much back then and felt kind of weird after watching it. 5 years later, I picked up on this, rewatched it and I have to say that my mind got blown. Vanilla Sky has been my favourite movie ever since. This movie has never really gotten the appreciation it truly deserves. The soundtrack is terrific and sigur ros just perfectly syncs in with the scene, enhancing the emotion and visual appeal with its heavenly music. People are misguided and judging this movie just because Tom Cruise is seen as a mediocre conventional actor. But I have to admit, Tom played an impeccable role in this movie and it really surprised me to notice that. I also watched the original spanish version of this movie called Abre los ajos but still, I find Vanilla Sky to be much better and I hardly prefer american remakes over originals. My advice? Just go watch it and think for yourself. Don't judge, just go into it with an open mind and be amazed.

Most people here would hate on a movie that is cliche where you know what's going to happen, however there are so many twists and turns that make you think. What makes it amazing is that although sometimes your confused, it keeps you on the edge of your seat till the very end! I really wish they'd make another one, because it was great! Just watched it... it's amazing how words fail me in trying to express how I felt towards the film. Glad to have had the experience. :]

Its funny, I was a young teenager when this film was in the cinema - I would have loved it then as I did when I first saw it as a 15 year old. I remember seeing the trailer in the cinema many times and yet it never gripped me enough to want to see the movie. Now years later I come back to watch the trailer to work out why - because none of the real tragedy and heartbreak is revealed, none of the true - existential brilliance is really touched on. And that is why the trailer is actually really good, it presented so much and yet there was so much hidden underneath - much like the film itself. I should have seen this movie in the cinema!

i liked the trailer, it doesn't give too much detail away about the actual story, trailers should be more like this

If someone watched this trailer before actually seeing the movie I'm sure they would've thought that they already knew what was going to happen without having to see the movie but of course they'd be in for a surprise

I have seen this movie about four or five times in the past two days (my first times watching this movie) and to say it's weird is an understatement. It's so... all over the place that I can barely decipher anything that's happening. But it's still an AMAZING movie.

As everyone here has already expressed, this is an incredible film, just like this perfect trailer. It shows just enough to keep you interested while not giving anything away. And the music / cuts at the end 👌

While watching it, there was a point when i thought, am i going crazy or its really happening in the movie, how things are gonna conclude. But at the end it was satisfactory how they concluded it.
