Times still has been rough, for Billy Hope..
I can not express my anticipation & excitement to dive-in to a mind-bending treat like this. These are the kinds of films I want to make. Psychological drama that forces the audience to use their intuition to try and solve the mystery for themselves.
I watched it 30 minutes ago, I still feel oppressed so much. I see everything in dark yellow, I hear a stressing sound and every action I do feels like it has a deep mindfucking meaning.
Such a good trailer, can't stop watching it. Hope the movie is even better. Go Jake Gyllenhaal!

***** So spiders represent his fear of commitment and women. He has gotten rid of his bad side from the car accident and when he looks at the key to that strip club place, he gives in to temptation and goes back to how he was, so her turning into the spider and him kind of just sighing at it, is him pretty much like 'great, ive done it again.' hes back to his usual ways. Check out Enemy explained by Chris Stuckmann on youtube, he does an excellent job at explaining it all and will put this into context if you dont already understand what im saying :)

Director David Villeneuve came home early from David Lynch's school of minimalist surrealism, and did much more than handing in this Masterpiece! . I loved the whole package. The ending made the film for me. Particularly the final scene with the whistle. Prisoners was masterful from start to finish. And I was expecting some hum-drum melodrama so I was consistently surprised throughout. A lot of people had a problem with the denouement because it seemed very calculated and true to the conventional thriller formula but it was pulled off with such verve and hit with such impact it did nothing but enthrall me. Prisoners is a rare bird - tough and fragile at the same time.

yake acosta I think the ending is left often because the answer is obvious depending on your POV. It either ends on a hopeful note or a downbeat note. Did he hear the whistle? Will he find Jackman in that pit? Or will he move on thinking that it was just some noise on the wind? The ending is left open so you can discover whether you're an optimist or a pessimist. Many films have done this. The most memorable of recent years was Inception. Was he awake or was he dreaming? Same idea as in Prisoners. If you're an optimist, he finds Jackman and returns him home to the family (even though he'd face charges) but if you're a pessimist he remains buried and dies there, a missing person just like the abducted children. I really appreciate endings like this when done right. I felt it ended at the exact moment it should have. Sometimes not knowing the details can make the viewing experience more rewarding. If I were you I'd give it another watch. You might be more forgiving the 2nd time around.

I just realized, the weird part with his girlfriend walking in the hall upside down with a spider head (didn't know it was a spider at that point), is the symbolism they used for all the women in his life. His fear of commitment was the spiders, the huge one in the city was also a woman in his life, his mother, dominant, controlling and constantly keeping a watchful eye as you see when she talks to him. Obviously the girlfriend was a smaller spider and the wife was also huge, probably since she also has his child. When she tells him, "I want you to stay", she is talking about THAT side of him, compassionate, caring, loving and emotionally available rather than him when he is a prick. Rude, self-centered, egocentric etc.

beautifully metaphorical movie! i loved how they made it into a cinematic literature piece where you have to pay keen attention to the details and analyze every scene in order to understand the theme. i also thought it was very clever how they made the movie seem full of suspense when the meaning behind it is just about cheating; however, when one suspects that their partner is cheating/having an affair, this is exactly how one feels - the suspense and anxiety and depression of confirming the hidden truth. loved it :)
This guy is so underrated actor. Delivers amazing performance. Can't stop enjoying his characters in the movies.
Prisoners , that drive to the hospital took me back when i had to drive there . Man i was crying for him to make it in theatre . 😂
This movie is utterly brilliant
I still don’t get why there’s a massive tarantula in a room if it’s mostly about a guy dealing with his doppelgänger

I DO NOT KNOW WHAT THE HECK THIS FILM IS ABOUT FROM THIS TRAILER!!! best trailer ever!
Those of you doubting this film should go see Prisoners. One of the best films of 2013 and a major oscar snub. This movie looks very interesting.

Prisoners was fantastic. It's very hard for me to watch a thriller and not predict what happens in the ending, let alone 3/4 of what is going to happen. Prisoners was that movie.

Emily Stone I agree Prisoners was a really good movie. It kept me on the edge of my seat. Keep me guessing the whole time. I love it. One of the best movies that came out last year.
Got to love a Jake Gyllenhaal movie
My husband was just watching the trailer next to me and i saw it I'm like oh i gotta see this. lol
The Enemy staring Jake Gyllenhaal and Jake Gyllenhaal comes an epic mindfuck movie that keeps you eating your popcorn very silently
Looks interesting. Every Jake Gylenhall movie I've seen is pretty top notch
besides the story that's difficult to understand, the atmosphere this film sets is so eerie with the avant-garde soundtrack and the dull yellow presence of every single location, it is strange but in a very satisfying way, like it's been carefully crafted to be an hour and a half-long lull of anxiety, I think Enemy is what an album like 'The Seer' by Swans would feel like as a film
i love him.
