omg her voice is amazing......deserves way more recognition.

I saw her at the Beatles 50th anniversary at the Hollywood Bowl... and her performances were beyond amazing.

I don't mean to be disrespectful to all the other amazing Aussie female singers....And I know there are some good ones (in particular Kate Cebrano) But surely Vanessa Amorosi is the greatest female singer to ever come out of Australia.... What a talent.

I wouldn't argue with that Gunter :) It's amazing how little recognition Vanessa has in Australia considering her talents. She not just a fantastic singer but she really does come across as a genuinely grounded person too.

I would say Sia Furler comfortably holds that mantle, in the modern era anyway. Nellie Melba is the countries greatest ever female singing export.. I always had a thing for Vanessa though.

I'd say it's probably Dami Im. Vanessa is great though, still as sublime as she was during the Olympics in 2000. I think the reason she doesn't have as much recognition as she should, is because she's constantly reinventing her career, she doesn't want to be just one thing.

Her New Single will be release in a few days time .. 5th April and I was Very Lucky My Dear Friend Andrew too me to Red Hot Summer Tour and saw her perform her New Single Live ☺

@@joewinglovemusic No Joe as far as I know I am not related to Vanessa. I am an American born on the east coast. However there is a small town in Central Italy named Amorosi and I suspect all Amorosi's can probably trace their roots back to there, so who knows.

She's a LEGEND!!

Vanessa is the best singer on the planet. No one is even in her league. Maybe the best singer who ever lived. Better than Aretha.

So Hyang is good at high notes. She is NOT good at low or middle notes. She's only useful as a soprano. Overall she's not that great a singer in comparison. So Hyang is .. EVERY female singer that's come out of Idol and X factor..

Vanessa is more influenced by Aretha, Janis,and bands like Soundgarden,En Vogue,The Beatles, the Stones and Nirvana. And she's influenced by John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes, Olivia Newton John, Tina Arena,INXS, Silverchair and Powderfinger just like everyone else in Australia.Name a song other than Lady Marmalade that was ever a hit for Patti? I just tried it :) Great singer, but not a great catalog of music. @@graysang5386 Aretha could shake the soul of humanity itself when she hit her top, her top belts rang out with perfect pitch like no other, they may not be long and sustained, that wasn't her style, but her big shouts had such clarity and depth and hugeness of sound, they literally knocked people over (Mahalia Jackson funeral 1972, KZread).. Nobody comes close, listen to Amazing Grace also, 'Never Grow Old' from the Amazing Grace album, her reaching into the very guts life itself to express a moment of sanctified belief, she sang and hit notes that were not perfect as such, but they were almost indescribable and totally inimitable, and moved her listeners like no other singer before or after.
