Van gaal is a builder. He won't be the coach that necessarily lifts the cup, but will be the guy that lays the ground work for success. He did it at Barca brining along Xavi, Iniesta and Puyol, he did it a Munich with Muller and Alaba. I am sure you will see Holland advance and some stars emerge. And when he goes to United he will craft out some young players, return them to Europe and re-establish the stability United need to be successful again. An astute choice by Man UNited to appoint. Van Gaal.

Yeah you were absolutely right, Netherlands in semis(even though most people called their team aged and below par before the start of WC) LvG had made some brilliant decisions. Next game is going to be pretty tough though with de Jong missing.

***** Klopp is probably Man Utd's first choice, if he was available. However he isn't. He has stated he is loyal and has a contract with Dortmund until 2018 and he is going no where.

What Van Gaal says at 2:00 "keeping the old coach is where Moyes went wrong when he joined Manchester United, sacking the Manchester united coaching staff was a big mistake. They inform you about your new team, otherwise you have to start from scratch getting to know them and gaining their trust.

This is very true. Without question. David Moyes could have rocked up to Carrington with his suitcase and a cigar. However, Van Gaal made it worse by selling off 'United players' - Evans, Fletcher, Henandez, Rafael, Nani, Van Persie, Evra - even Welbeck. These guys were the fabric of the club. Louis tried to reinvent the wheel. Huge error.

Its gonna be chelsea and united the 2 teams to talk aboutin the prem for the next 6+ years. having the best and most confident managers in the world and loads to spend, i cant wait to see mourinho and van gaal press conferences. huge egos but thats what makes them the best.

I like this guy. Speaks with confidence in what he does and how he does it. I like that his system is 4-3-3. Better than the 4-4-2 nonsense Moyes was playing. With Klopp seemingly out of the picture, I hope Van Gaal gets the job. Proven winner, and more importantly has publicly said that he wants a job in the Premier Leauge!

Like him or hate him - Van Gaal is always incredibly honest about what he thinks.

Mourino and Van Gaal in the same league is there enough room for two massive ego's, but give them their due they get results, they are demanding, but it will also mean getting the players that can fit into his system, and the players now that can buy into his tactics, the United Midfield and back needs work, but with a large pot of money to spend, and if they sign Van Gaal as their coach, I can see United back in the top 4,

I am Dutch and proud that Van Gaal is Dutch as well. He is simply THE BEST; a tactical genius; look what he is doing right now on the World Cup and how the players trust in his vision.

I think he will makes a big transformation to the entire squad. I like to see he would used players that only capable to play well on the pitch. Regarding to his influences, he will get world class players to sign in for the next season and i can;t wait to see that. We're hoping the darkness gone and THE REDS will rise once again.

Louis Van Gaal Army!!!

I would love to see him come and coach Tottenham after his contract with the Dutch National team expires in the summer. His preferred formation is a very attacking 4-3-3. This is the kind of football Tottenham is destined to continue UE to play. Plus he coached Moussa. It would be cool to see him bring Dutch player to the Premier League.

Van Gaal is a very good coach, but he is different than al the other coaches. That's why he's a good coach, Man Utd have to be very grateful with a coach like this.

Cruijff and Van Gaal never liked each other but they both managed to make young players play attractive football as a team. I think their philosophies kind of match but they were never searching to bridge their personal differences.

The people who are saying "his age is the downside" need to stop, we're never going to get another Fergie who'll stay for 25 years. We will be like other clubs who chop and change their managers every 6 or so years. We just need to get used to it.

And Ekangamene, Will keane, Michael Keane, Marnick Vermijl, Ben Pearson(little warrior this lad, gets stuck in anywhere), Joe Rothwell and Jese Lingard too. not all going to be world class but i rate them highly at U-21 level and nothing annoys me more than the it's under 21 level they haven't proven anything. Yes i will concede its a significantly lower level but you never know until you give them a shot. If they give 150% everytime bring them up...

I think he's a lock for United. All the other coaches would be too much trouble. One downside is his age, but like the man himself said, age doesn't matter. Sir Alex led us into his 70s and van Gaal is only 62. He's leaving Holland after the World Cup and has already expressed interest in the job. Seems to be the easiest option, but due to his experience and success, very well may be the best option. Only legit downside I see is he's never managed in England before, but Pelegrini seems to be doing just fine. Van Gaal can also connect with Persie and attract big name stars especially his former Bayern Munich players like Muller, Kroos, and Badstuber. He could be our guy. GGMU

Amin Bohlolzadeh Not at the moment no. The long time solutions that might be able to coupe with the situation in the club are already under contract. People like Klopp, Mourinho, Ancelotti etc. are under contract for a long time and Van Gaal will be avaible after the World cup.

This video is almost like a job interview for the United role. Sounds like a class act he won't suffer fools gladly. Rooney is probably crapping his pants, finally a manager who will scare the shit out of him.

Van Gaals work is the base of the bayern success over the past years. He implemented the system bayern is still playing and what barca is playing. as he says, he always plays this system. but thats also one of his weaknesses, he is a kind of stubborn. jupp showed last year how to improve the system by copying elements of bvb-style. however, this can only work if manchester players and fans agree with his approach. we will see.

No, Tiki Taka is a derivative of his philosophy.. Van Gaal is more about total football and Ajax style.. look up Ajax 95. There are certainly elements of Tiki Taka (in the sense that the team has to dominate and good positional play) but he also wants to use wingbacks, wingers, crosses, counters, and a striker instead of a shadow striker like messi. Further he selects on fitness not on name (after the Holland 2002 debacle). So he likes competition in the group. He also likes youth. And has his own peculiar idea's about training, eating and sleeping. Use of technology.

Narcissus van Gaal's English is the epitome of "steenkolenengels" (lit. transl.: Coal English) better known as Dunglish in English. I'm not saying I never make mistakes or have a decent accent, but this is absolutely horrific. Anyway... he says age is not important to him, but everybody knows that it is. He'll always prefer young players to older players because they're easier to influence; thus being easier to shape them to his preferences. Older players do not look up to him as much as these youngsters, which probably hurts his ego. The only exceptions to this are Robben and Van Persie; who're getting pampered by Van Gaal to gain their complete trust, in order to get the most out of them.

But not coming close to Johan Cruijff ... van Gaal is always great in exaggeration ... I never forgot how he could not qualify for the World Cup against Ireland, with the best side the Netherlands have ever had. And look how he failed in Manchester
