Use the 4-4-2 on Football Manager. More of a 4-6-0. 4 defenders, 4 compact midfielders covering halfspaces/centre of pitch, two strikers very deep.

beastkay byt bullshit you just need 2 class strikers (which we have now, and only is he playing them together) and also you need 2 strong but skillful midfielders (which he hasnt replaced since 2005) ffs

He actually plays 4-2-3-1 with Song and Arteta in the CDM position, and Walcott/Ox and Gervinho/Benayoun on the wings and Ramsey (who should leave)/Benayoun/Ox/Wilshere (when fit) at CAM

its good on a defensive standpoint.but counterattacks are a little tricky to mount against certain players

People doesn't recognize, wenger unbeaten 49 is because 4-4-2. Thats why plenty team nowadays in EPL cant beat that 49 unbeaten.

if you watch arsenal games carefully when they dont have the ball, they always switch back to 4-4-2 mostly with walcott and a central forward staying further up the pitch, even when walcott doesnt play, they used to play van presie and fabregas further up the pitch in a 4-4-2 when they dont have the ball, the only really play 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1 when they have the ball or when they are attacking

4-1-2-1-2 diamond means you need to have your FB attacking to give you width,on Fifa this is so easy to exploit when the FB push forward leaving spaces.

The 4-4-2 does not cover the positions where attacking midfielder and defensive midfielder are, so it looks very thin to me when opponent play with AMC or when I want to attack through the middle. On the other hand, it offers best wing cover in all formation.

Wenger's logic can apply to other formations. For example 4-3-3. You have 2 centre backs 3 CMs and a striker, 6 people covering 60% of the pitch. Then the 4 wide players covering 40%.

The 3 CMs would have cover 20% while the striker have to cover 20% by himself. Wenger' s logic is about maximizing use of space. The 433 became fashionable because the 3 CM crowded the 2 CM in other formations. Better for the number game.

4-2-3-1 Is in my opinion the best defensive and attacking formation, Look at Man City/Real Madrid you practically have 6 defenders practically, 2 cdm's and 4 defenders, then you have 4 attackers, To switch it up you can get the wing backs up and have the 2 cdm's cover so you will always have at least four back at all times, Not only that, you could push the Cdm's up and leave the defence as there unit as four, or either one cdm moves forward and so does wing back, It is a great formation!

Guys he is talking about the formation..not saying that he loves it and always uses it..he will use whatever formation that will give advantage over the opponent....its a game nothing is how it is supposed to be...thats where luck and godliness comes..thats why messi is godlike...play him in any formation he will kick ass

4-4-2 is good for teams who are doing well in defence and playing counter-attack football, but the attack works better with 4-2-3-1, even a 4-2-3-1 side in defence transforms into 4-4-2.

+Isaac Maestro 4-1-4-1 is a very good formation, especially if you have a player who can pass well with both feet and is also defensive minded (Xabi Alonso, Gokhan Inler), but for me, the 4-4-1-1 (attacking midfielder) is my best formation because I like to play attacking, possession football.

By playing 4-3-3 you get Özil in his favoured position at no. 10 and the two wingers mean more creativity up front, also allows your two CMs play defensively or offensively depending on the situation without the no. 10 needing to go all the way back and therefore lead to a lack of creativity

The best formation for you depents on your playing style. But defenetly 4 defenders!

Hi Arsene, I really hope that you go back to your classical formation of 4-4-2 b/c I am certain you are one of the top 3 coaches in the history using this formation and plan. your new plan is too complicated for your players to apply in the pitch and it causes so many injuries.

4-2-3-1 is the best. It optimizes all spaces.

I disagree,....i like 5-4-1 with all *4, outside mids and backs up top on attacking, then on counter attack you still have 3 middle backs and then bottom diamond middle defender covering defense and 6 on attacks (4 outsides,1 top diamond mid and 1 striker).* sub with benched plays for max endurance. Just my preference.

433 only works if you have great wingers, it's a very attacking formation.
