Valve Adjustment Procedure: Shown With A 2000 Yamaha Warrior 350

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Even though I'm adjusting the valves on a Yamaha Warrior, the concept and procedure is the same for all machines. The only difference is the location and access of the valves and the clearance tolerance it's self.

FYI guys curtesy of @MassiveOverkill. The Rhino and Vikings used a cam-actuated rocker, which made valve adjustments easy with no need to buy shims. Valve adjustments on our X2/X4 engines aren't quite as easy with the camshafts directly actuating the valve. Finding TDC and checking valve clearance is similar, but adjusting valve clearance requires removal of the camshafts and valve lifter to change out the pads underneath.

Nice vid. I have an 03 that I just bought and it only runs for about 10-15 mins before it starts sputtering, back firing and then stalls out. Have to wait an hour or two before it starts again. Then the cycle repeats. Any one had this issue? Most of what I'm seeing online is saying to check valve clearances, CDI, coil, and the stator. This has all been over the summer in Phoenix so I'm wondering if temperatures are playing a role. Thanks for any advice

You want to adjust both intake and exhaust valves on TDC of the compression stroke.

For single cylinder engines, yes. It will vary with multiple cylinder engines however and it’s always best to check the what the specific engine requires.

Hi... I know that this is not a Bruin video but I am wondering if you might me able to help me out a bit anyway? I have looked everywhere and I get different valve clearance setting recommendations from different places I look. Can you help me out? I have a 2006 Yamaha Bruin, Model: YFM350A - Vin: 5Y4AH10Y66A021826. The other thing is, my feeler gauge has both Metric and Inches. If you can help me out with the correct clearance settings, please tell me if they are to be used with Metric or Inches on my gauge? >
