Japanese mob reason Pride fighting went under. Pride was so much better than the UFC back then

So you know why it went under, yet you think it was better than the UFC knowing at least a portion of it was rigged? I get thinking it was absolute brutality and the closest thing to true street fighting out with the difference in rules but still seeing as how we will never know how much of it was legit it’s hard to say it was better than the UFC.

Yeah because the UFC was ILLEGAL to televise then thanks to politicians... That's the only reason everyone went to Japan.

Vader seems to have mellowed with age. A lot of the shoots I've seen guys say he was loud, mean and hard to work with most of the time and didn't mind hurting people in the ring.

I used to train at a boxing gym where one of the coaches had done some work with Vader. He told me in no uncertain terms that "Leon White is not a nice man". I can see that, but I've seen many of the shoot videos he did toward the end of his life, and it seems like he really changed his ways during his final years.

I think there is a huge difference between "Vader is not a nice man in the ring", and "Leon White is not a nice man". I've heard too many stories from the likes of Bret Hart, Mick Foley, etc., that have described Vader as "reserved" and even "a pussycat" outside of the ring. It was only in the ring when he got in his zone, where he could be a bit rough.

Every new year's eve here in Japan, Pride and K-1 would compete on different channels for viewers. It was awesome!!! Eventually Pride got caught for their yakuza connections, and both promotions got taken off the air. Total disappointment. Loved them.

@@xhuntarianx incorrect. It was taken off air due to their yakuza connection being exposed by fedor's team after the yakuza tried to put him and his people in check. Pride was incredibly successful but once their yakuza ties went mainstream with attention they quickly lost their tv deal and were bleeding money. Thats when UFC bought them out. such a nice guy. as a wrestler I wud of been pretty scared of Vader just thru the TV set ha ha. But listening to him speaker in different segments of these shoot interviews, and he seems like such a cool and caring individual. So congrats on yet another very good shot interview, all ur shoots have been top draw stuff so I wish u just keep up the good work here as I'm sure plenty of fans just like me love these just as much Yo. I've learned so much from ur questions within any of the shoots n the answers r simply with truth n honor to their fellow competitors is nice to hear right from their own mouths. I dunno how u manage to get all these guys, but u do n that's all that matters to me anyway. keep up the entertaining work Devon 🤓

FINALLY!!! THE GREATEST big man in history. I really don't care what anyone says but Big Van Vader had much better matches than Taker. Way better. IMO his work with Sting, Flair, Nobuhiko Takada, Inoki, Kobashi, Misawa, Hansen, Cactus is far superior than any today and better than any heavyweight in US history. Well deserved. Big Van Vader was THE MAN. Too bad Harley or Sting can't induct him :(

When I first started working in Japan back in 2012, a Yakuza guy took me and my sensei out shopping and out to eat and then took us to a soapland he owned so we could bang some Japanese women...as a single 29 year old man at that time...it was such an awesome experience. I still wrestle in Japan on occasion...just for different promotions than the ones I worked for before....so I don't have the same sponsors and Yakuza guys hooking me up anymore...But I still enjoy going to Japan and entertaining the Japanese fans occasionally.

The fact that I have been living in Japan, Hawaii & South Korea without a "9 to 5" for the past 5 and a half years speaks for itself.
