You can often stand on a broken back. It means you broke the bone but the nerves are not damaged, yet. It's no different than the neck and countless wrestlers break their necks. Angle no only could stand he won the gold medal with a broken neck.

Just got to look at Vader' punches to see the guy is stiff. You can literally hear his hand smacking their head and he would do it over and over again. I remember one night on Raw he had a match with Yokozuna and you can see Yoko snap at one point and start giving him stiff punches back.

I believe Leon actually did feel really bad about the Joe Thurman situation. On Kayfabe Commentaries "Ringside with Vader" he came really damn close to breaking down about it and admitted that it was the one thing in his career that he regretted the most. And he was absolutely thrilled when he was informed that Thurman had gone on to become a Police officer in Georgia.

Yeah he felt so bad about it that he started smirking as he described what happened. 1:10 Look. I thought Vader was awesome too and had quite a career. Even got into acting and did a great job. But, as we get older, the more we learn about the people we admire and the closer we get to truly Knowing them. The dude seems to be a glorified bully who felt so entitled that he didn't even consider the well being of the people he worked with. Freaking sociopath..He thought his co-workers were beneath him and wasn't worth the effort of him even attempting to wrestle in an appropriate and safe manner. Probably only cried in an attempt to get people off his back about the incident. He probably didnt even give that man a thought let alone a phone call after he left that hospital. I said he was a good actor. Check out boy meets world. -.-

So he worked stiff and probably "potatoed" more guys throughout his career then he was even aware of. However, folks need to realize that the majority of his career was over in Japan. And they are CLEARLY noted for working stiff over there. It's just a different type of pro wrestling style they have. Stan Hansen was no different, John Layfield aka Bradshaw also worked stiff, along with the Dudley Boyz. So i'm quite sure when he returned from his Asia stint and started primarily working in the US. The guys he faced over here just weren't used to that kind of style. OH WELL...!!! Because despite all that he was arguably one of THE BEST big men to ever grace a square circle. Gone but never forgotten...!!! RIP big man.

People don’t realize one of the reasons Bret turned heel in 1997 is because he didn’t want to work with Vader. Vince McMahon gave Bret two lists, one was a list of guys he would feud with if he stayed babyface (Vader, Mankind & Austin) and one was a list of guys he’d feud with if he turned heel (HBK, Undertaker & Austin). He choose the latter to avoid Vader.

I think he devalues the injuries because he is in denial. He psychologically cannot cope with the fact that he injured people. You can see it in his face when he begins talking, he looks agonized. Immediately after stating his opponents were in fact not injured, he smiles. It’s a coping mechanism.

Feeling terrible doesn't make it right! Even in death Vader leaves a disgusting legacy of hurt wrestlers.

I mean, that's a little harsh. It's not like he was going around murdering people. He may have been stiff, reckless, and maybe even been a bit of a prick about it, but I don't think that's enough for a "disgusting legacy" That's like something reserved for people like Pol Pot and Jeffrey Dahmer, not a big guy who was a little too rough in wrestling matches.

Michael Anderson Vader never really tried to hurt those guys, he was just a big tough dude who didn’t know his own strength sometimes, I used to have the same problem
