@@back2back379 not only that. The message in the movie is different form the message in the graphic novel. The movie presents V as an anti-hero, while in the graphic novel he's an anti-villain at best. Also, the political message in the movie is one that shouts neo-liberalism, while the one in the graphic novel is full blown anarchy, because Alan Moore defended and still believes that anarchy is the perfect social system, because there are no rules in anarchy. Not saying the movie is worst than the graphic novel, but its message is slightly different (probably because the movie is also a critic to the way the world was during the Iraquian war, and the graphic novel criticizes the time during which Margaret Thatcher was prime minister of the UK).

+Ricky Ray In real life, all of the people there will be shot, trampled, gassed or bombed. Even in the US, UK, etc they would charge in with riot gear, tear gas and disperse the crowd. In the second world countries, all of the soldiers would fire until every single person in the crowd is dead, tanks will come in, helicopters will shoot them down. I am sure a Dictator would not mind killing 90% of its population to remain in power. The only problem I see is that some of the soldiers family members will be in the crowd, but I am pretty sure they won't care. They will not care if they masscared their entire population, heck it is already happening now. That is why it is just a movie, and fiction.

What I absolutely love about this is the symbolism. Look here: 4:39 The killed gay man with the Quran in his home. 4:41 The little girl that was shot and killed. 4:44 The lesbian couple that was taken to the concetration camp and killed. Those who die for something (Revolutionaries, non-conformists, soldiers etc.) live through symbols. In this case the symbol was V's mask. In other cases it's a flag,an anthem, a song,a poem, a book. Now here's the awesome part, this movie takes this whole thing a step further suggesting that those who sacrificed themselves for a cause, (Willingly or otherwise.) walk amongst those who still fight and struggle. Beautiful.

I never understood why the House of Parliament had to be blown up though. That message was too anarchistic for my taste. The House of Parliament didnt ONLY represent the fascist government, it represented Old England way before that as it was from the 17th century, yes? So.. I don't understand why V did not just plan a great showcase of fireworks to demonstrate that the people could now walk all over the military, straigt up to the House of Parliament and throw a party. And simultaenously demonstrate that the fascist government had gotten powerless to resist it.

@@RealD8 How? The current administration is deregulating and cutting taxes. In order to have a "fascist" government they need to be controlling you or trying to control you. Saying "we don't want to tax you at an exorbitant rate to give you universal healthcare that half the country don't wants" is not fascism, in fact it's the opposite. Freedom is freedom FROM government, not begging the government for rights that you ALREADY had. Power corrupts, so why give them any power? Why allow them to control anything at all? They've done a shitty job at everything except for war. So don't let them do anything except for the occasional (necessary only preferably) war.

I just want to point out for those unaware- Anarchy does NOT mean chaos or lawlessness, it simply is a rejection of *unjust* hierarchy. Anarchists still want laws- just democratically defined laws. They’re still okay with some hierarchy, as long as that hierarchy can be justified as necessary. V, and then also Evey, were anarchists. Anarchism is against unjust hierarchies- which includes social ones. So against racism, sexism, homophobia etc. All the anarchists I’ve met are lovely people. And they genuinely do want a better world for everyone.

"....How did this happen? Whose to blame? Well certainly there are those who are more responsible than others and *they will be held accountable* but again truth be told if your looking for the guilty, *You need only look into a mirror*." With so many people around the world pointing fingers at the government or at various politicians and political parties. Those who use this film as an example of the wrongs of our governments always fail to understand or rather choose to ignore the most important scene in the entire movie. The above quote is not a twisted reflection of our world but is in fact an absolute truth! If people really wanted to change our world for the better then they would take a stand. It doesn't matter where you are from the people of a country outnumber the government by *millions*. You don't need bloodshed or anarchy to create a better world. All you have to do is say *NO*! The world didn't become this way because of any political agenda. The reason the world became a darkened nightmare full of war, death, chaos and poverty is clear. BECAUSE WE LET IT FUCKING HAPPEN! We sat on our fucking arses and let the greedy, the corrupt and megalomaniacal to grind our skulls into the earth. Now there are few who wish to stand up for what they believe in. The majority of the population are too scared to take a stand due to rampant fear mongering. We don't fear for our lives HAHAHAHA NO! We fear the loss of our jobs, our homes, our pensions. However the things we hold most dear, the things we fear for the most, the things that we cannot lose under any circumstance.....are thus. Your internet connection, your reality tv and soap opera's, your phone, your computer, your games console. This is what we fear to lose the most?! Not our future, the well fare of our children or the safety of friend and family a like? We instead fear the loss of all of our materialistic BULLSHIT!? ARE YOU FUCKING JOKING?! You can deny it all you want but how many times have you said or thought that "I can't live without my phone/xbox/pc/tv shows." When was the last time you said you couldn't live without your friends or your family. It makes me fucking sick just thinking about it! ....but who am I to point fingers....when I myself am no better. It only takes one to create a spark but others *must* kindle the flame. Perhaps this post will go ignored and be consigned to the depths of the youtube comments section, perhaps it will generate a thousand responses of idiocy and foolishness. But....there is always the chance that someone will read this tirade and decide to take a stand. That someone will understand that the world is broken and perhaps they will choose to create the spark that is so desperately needed...........

The only thing you will ever be able to control in this world is yourself. So if you want to create a better world, do it by creating a better self. You are right. People are good at pointing fingers, at finding someone to blame. But we need only look into a mirror.

Awesome comment. Thank you for talking some sense. Yes, world can be a better place only if we could change ourselves. I aspire to become a blog writer some day and try to change the perspective of my readers. "Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning and, for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth."
