V for Vendetta Speech

Фильм және анимация

I think it's time to let you guys know that the previous descriptions were basically tongue-in-cheek trolls. And boy, it worked. I get several emails a day from youtube telling me people have commented and they all sound pretty pissed off. I'm actually a Socialist IRL. Thanks for watching.
Also, yeah, I'm aware that the speech is missing something from the centre. When I ripped it and put it on WMM, it gave me loads of 10 second clips and it seems I forgot to put some in; sorry about that.

    Good evening, London. Allow me first to apologize for this interruption. I do, like many of you, appreciate the comforts of every day routine- the security of the familiar, the tranquility of repetition. I enjoy them as much as any bloke. But in the spirit of commemoration, thereby those important events of the past usually associated with someone's death or the end of some awful bloody struggle, a celebration of a nice holiday, I thought we could mark this November the 5th, a day that is sadly no longer remembered, by taking some time out of our daily lives to sit down and have a little chat. There are of course those who do not want us to speak. I suspect even now, orders are being shouted into telephones, and men with guns will soon be on their way. Why? Because while the truncheon may be used in lieu of conversation, words will always retain their power. Words offer the means to meaning, and for those who will listen, the enunciation of truth. And the truth is, there is something terribly wrong with this country, isn't there? Cruelty and injustice, intolerance and oppression. And where once you had the freedom to object, to think and speak as you saw fit, you now have censors and systems of surveillance coercing your conformity and soliciting your submission. How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. I know why you did it. I know you were afraid. Who wouldn't be? War, terror, disease. There were a myriad of problems which conspired to corrupt your reason and rob you of your common sense. Fear got the best of you, and in your panic you turned to the now high chancellor, Adam Sutler. He promised you order, he promised you peace, and all he demanded in return was your silent, obedient consent. Last night I sought to end that silence. Last night I destroyed the Old Bailey, to remind this country of what it has forgotten. More than four hundred years ago a great citizen wished to embed the fifth of November forever in our memory. His hope was to remind the world that fairness, justice, and freedom are more than words, they are perspectives. So if you've seen nothing, if the crimes of this government remain unknown to you then I would suggest you allow the fifth of November to pass unmarked. But if you see what I see, if you feel as I feel, and if you would seek as I seek, then I ask you to stand beside me one year from tonight, outside the gates of Parliament, and together we shall give them a fifth of November that shall never, ever be forgot!

  • @stealthbrawler

    @stealthbrawler

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@macdelttorres3366 proud boys are lead by a "person of colour" (i do not remember the specific race but he is not white) and their ideas are not racist at all considering the amount of different races the members can be, in fact, if proud boys are racist they are terrible at it by allowing anyone of any skin color join them. In fact its ridiculous to make that claim. Secondly: the KKK are less and less relevant every year with less than 3000 members as of last year, and even so, the kkk are more closely related to the democratic party than they ever were the Republican party in the USA and this is proven by the fact that Joe Biden had close ties with Robert Byrd who actually had ties with the kkk. Also "white supremacy" is on the rise due to the fact that any other group is permitted to act in a supremacist manner. Other groups are just as supremacist in nature and this has been coming to a boiling point because the standards of not being racist or sexist were only put on white individuals and it has become the case where people have seen the double standard and swung to the extreme in many cases or decided to fight in between attacking both extremes, you cannot have double standards and expect something positive to form. Also Antifa is a very bad example considering they are acting more fascistic than they people they oppose, violent attempts to censor their opponents, physically attacking opposition whenever they see fit, and it's been riling people up. You like to call the right fascists, from an outside perspective, you're a hypocrite. You say you hate fascists yet no doubt from reading your comment likely believe that censorship is just, that violence is just, that attacking those of another opinion off of social media, banning people and removing them is just, then well done, you acted more like a nazi than anyone else. Also, if you have ever said or thought of the line "believe all women" and then asked for evidence when it's accusations against those of your political leanings, then you are a hypocrite to a very high degree. Not saying you believe in the aforementioned quote or acted in this way, but if you have, then you already have my conclusion. But let's use your logic. "Maybe theres a reason people such as the proud boys are popping up, maybe its because anti-American sentiment has grown to the point such individuals feel justified to defend the ideals of the nation, maybe white supremacist thinking is popping up due to a rise in anti-white racism that has gone un-condemned and even praised and so it has risen not as the disease but as the symptom of hypocrisy, a disease rampant within the political left of America" there, your logic presented in an opposing argument, it does not matter if you agree with the argument, your logic is utilized and therefore it matters not whether you sympathize with what it defends or what it is used for, you say antifa rising is the result of fascism yet someone can say that Antifa has caused the rise of opposing groups. Either way, it isn't my job to tell you what to think, I just disagree.

We don't have dumbasses like anti-maskers where masks = slavery. Some cannot afford a mask or face shield. Unlike the UK when they lifted the quarantine, some of those britons head straight to pubs. Truly a message for every bygone age, for every current system, for every day that passes with more and more freedoms being quashed, and for every person who let these injustices go quietly. @@seekingabsolution1907 That's why Article 5 of the Constitution exists. They incorporated the means to evolve within the original framework. Sadly, with the passing of so many generations, we the people became lazy. We placed more importance on the convenience of comfort than on being informed enough to carry on, with due diligence, the duty presented us of keeping our government in check. That's why Franklin said "...a Republic, if you can keep it..." The shady shit our government has done, over the past century especially, the brunt of responsibility lies at our own feet for not keeping informed, not keeping government accountable to us, and for falling for the illusion that there is any real difference between the 2 parties. We vote in the same archetypes year after year, and prove ourselves insane and short on memory for ever hoping to expect a different result. I have faith in the potential of what this country could be, and the ideals we as a nation should stand for... but not in the majority of her citizens... and certainly not in any government official. Struggle is the crucible that hardens and hones great people. Great people bring forth good times. Good times bring forth lazy and complacent people, and with them the decline. Human history is replete with this cycle.... today is no different.

    Yes, the American founding fathers believed and wrote about freedom. These were people who sometimes fought for individual freedoms and sometimes personally restricted them as slave owners. Americans like all people can be complex and morally dubious (not all Americans, just like not all people). I never claimed that Americans were without faults (no one believes that, except straw men). If you dislike my comment or America just say so. You don't have to attack political institutions with countless examples of well documented scandals. Your time would likely be better spent writing this in a dissertation or lengthy journal article. Nevertheless, I assert words that champion freedom are still important for maintaining freedom. Freedom because of words allows you to disagree without condemnation or threat of force. People don't have to believe in America to believe in freedom.

How did this happen? Who's to blame? Well certainly there are those more responsible than others, and they will be held accountable, but again truth be told, if you're looking for the guilty, you need only look into a mirror. In truth this was never the case. The british government has a very long history of violently suppressing any and all dissent to its wars, its laws, and its bold faced obedience to the rich and powerful. Remember the red scares in the 1920s and 1950s-70s? The mass suppression and executions of trade unionists and anarchists and socialists throughout the 1800s in both the UK and US. The police brutalising workers im the Thatcher era? The British government and all of its offshoots around the world have never been for protecting *your* freedoms, they are for the protection of the wealthy from interference.
