Me: UTR 6.3 as of this match but this is the current state of my tennis - trying to survive through the winter. I was trying to roll deep to his bh side to stop his one hander but was launching too much.
Charles on the far court has been putting in the hours practicing over the winter and is seeing results from the hard work. He did an exceptional job of covering all areas of the court and taking control over points, finishing with crisp volleys - cleanly winning the match 6-2, 7-5.

    welcome to the Prestige family Rob, I'm on the 95in G360+ Pro myself. These racquets tend to be very string sensitive. They don't really like stiff strings.

    Good playing from both. It’s just going to be tough to defend your backhand side against players who can dictate unless it gets developed. Unless you have an injury, just hit it! Start low and imagine hitting your back over your shoulder in the follow through. You will get much better very quickly. Good luck and have fun!

    You are so right, I just started hitting slice at some point and it stuck. The problem is incorporating a new stroke into matches my consistency goes way down, and I win by having consistency. Have to take a step back in order to get forward I guess

    wins matches against very weak players. you have zero variety. your serve is a kick serve and thats the only serve you know. practice a slice serve and flat and come over your backhand and practice the drops shots and volleys and the drop shot volleys.

    Nice play! You're really good for UTR6/3.5-4 NTRP. Something to think about: You rotate too fast in your forehand. This causes the energy of the racket to brush it too heavily so you lose power. Also over rotation makes controlling the ball harder.

  • @EvokeTennis

    @EvokeTennis

    3 жыл бұрын

    thank you samu, do you mean make the rotation less jerky? because isn't torso rotation what drives racket head speed? but yes I agree I over rotate too!

    @@EvokeTennis It isn't easy to describe hah. Videoing from side view could help to see the path you racket is making. Maybe what i'm trying to say is that sometimes you really hit the ball forward and up with good balance (when you're in closed stance and moving into the ball). In baseline rally and in open stance, you're just brushing heavily. To compare: I think Charles hit a bit too flat without enough rotation so he makes a lot of balls long! The perfect stroke would be something between you and Charle's stroke haha. Anyway that is just my speculation. I just can relate a lot to your hitting because I've been doing the exact same my whole tennis career. I've been flattening strokes lately with great results. You have good technique so I encourage to analyze your strokes ! It's same with your serve, VERY GOOD TECHNIQUE, but you're not getting that extra pop you need in serve.

    @@MomentumTennis thanks for your analysis, I get what you are saying, too much brush I am missing the through part of it. Still trying to get control over this heavier racket so I can stop sending those ones long - rhs is down plus more power = sail for me

    @@MomentumTennis he needs to stay down on contact a second longer to prevent the rotation from essentially pulling him out of the stroke. I trick myself into doing this by thinking about keeping the ball on the strings as long as possible.

    First we are both strong 4.0s and probably underrated. @Vacation Tennis went undefeated last year at 4.0 and I went 5-2. Second I'm guessing you can't see how much spin I have on my shot because my racquet doesn't show up against the green curtain. Almost all of my shots landed around the service line, only a few were long or even close to long. There aren't any of my flat shots in this video. If they were flat, they would cross the net low and still land deep. There are some miss-timed backhands here. Video also makes shots look slower. My serves is ~95-100mph, forehands ~70mph with +2000rpms. I was also trying out a new string.
