Yonex VCORE 98 2023 vs Prince ATS Tour 98 vs Ai98 | tennis racket testing

Will they replace my Yonex Ai98? Today we test the Yonex VCORE 98 2023 vs Prince ATS Textreme Tour 98. Even though these rackets are the same specs on paper, they couldn't be more different!

I played the ATS98 with 2 different string setups side-by-side, half an hour each. The head-shape is a bit narrow, narrower than a Blade 98. It felt more like a Prestige. Actually it made a very similar "metallic" sound upon contact (with dampener on). 8 mains in the throat, quite dense string pattern, I strang it twice for a friend, so I know what I'm saying about the string pattern being quite narrow. So, it felt it had quite a weight towards the top of the hoop, more powerful than I expected, but the tight string pattern didn't let the ball fly long. It's a flat hitters frame this one. Very nice on the flat serves, super stable at the net, excellent on backhand slices. Not the most maneuverable, especially from the mid-court and not the biggest sweet-spot in the history of 98 sq inch rackets. I wouldn't go higher than 21-22kg full-bed of poly.
Stoked that you are back in action!

Sweet! Glad you like it and enjoyed the video, thanks again
The way you hit your forehand, you have to try the V2 Diadem Elevate. I have been playing it for a year. It's very maneuverable, the string pattern is very open, so you get a lot of spin and maybe too much power some times. But especially for the other court you play, the one with the sand, you have to give it a try. Can't say anything about the new V3 version.
I just changed from ATS 98 to VC98 so am pretty familiar with both these sticks. Both great, but when it came down to it the VC is a little easier, forgiving and much more fun to play with. Had to sacrifice a bit of plow for wow, but it was worth it I think. Both are awesome with PTP 1.20 BTW

Glad I'm not the only one considering both even though one is for my age range and the other is for a 15 year old. But I'm ok with that.

@@EvokeTennis strange comment
I don’t know 🤷🏼♂️ if Tennis Warehouse was pumping Prince’s tires when they scored this model a 91 vs 84 for the Vcore?! Like you said, on paper they appear almost identical!
Been loving my Prince ATS 98. Spinnier hitter like you but sometimes I struggle with driving through the ball on putaways and the higher swing weight helps quite a bit there

I should give it another go, ran out of time. Such a nice swinging and looking racket though

My 100p hits too flat so I need to be really focused in generating spin for depth; and I find that my opponents can deal with its pace easily. Is the 98 similar?

@@tophersuwita use Volkl Cyclone black 1.30 gauge or Solincon Confidential 1.25 gauge, both at 53lbs, it will help with the Spin of the Tour 100P 2015 tremendously
What are the Odd's... I'm also trying to replace my Ai98 that I've just been playing on and off with over the last 10ish years. Think its finally time and I have been looking at the Wilson Blades the the new Aero 98/100. Maybe you could check those out and give me an update? You've got a new sub btw.

there's nothing wrong with the racket, it's just getting hard and $$ to find them. I was surprised my old racket had more noticeable spin than the Prince in the video, got me thinking maybe I'll just keep playing on it. Not throwing the the Prince out the door yet, Maybe the Prince had more power though and I was seeing that coming through.
VCore Pro 97 310g. Maybe more polarized like your Ai 98
your next racket... definitely do a side by side of the following three: 2022 ezone98, 2023 vcore98, clash 98 v2

man I would have a Clash but the thick beam bothers me. Need a thinner clash and I'm sold

@@EvokeTennis i guess you can get the wilson 45 tech on the blade v8 and shift now. clash is fun and great for spin. might take some time getting used to it's unique feel to get a good feel for it. i think players that ultimately choose the clash, prefer comfort over anything else.
I wonder what are main differences between new ezone and the vcore 98s, I thought the control and power of ezone are unparalel

check AC Tennis video just released on this comparison
Find an Ezone tour that is 2-3 grams under spec, will be closest to an Ai98 in terms of weight and overall familiarity.

Haven't heard of too many that stuck with the tour, either couldn't get it around or a little rough on them. But the specs sure look good
That's so funny....I thought I was the only one that restrings demos when they come in....always worried about getting a nasty gram from the company when I do so, but how else can you truly test out a racquet?

I always request demos unstrung. There's no way tension lasts with the pressure and temperature changes associated with shipping.

Your fh stroke shape is too vertical for the Prince. That racquet, and really their whole line, is more about hitting through the court more.
