@@IanEskelson He's done a hell of a job! I do see the ________ in the playoffs soon. I live in Glendale and was a Coyotes fan from when I arrived in the valley. I'm sad to see them leave Arizona, but ANY HOCKEY TEAM should never have to go through the fans here went through! That problem IS FINALLY GONE! So we're on the path to a new team; Hopefully as the NHL finds not just some yeahoo with a pocket full of money! It takes someone that has a love of the fan. It will work here.

@@elosogonzalez8739 You guys definitely deserved better from what I read about your former owner. When I first heard we were getting an NHL team in Utah I flipped out. All we've had are the Jazz, who always blow it. I've been a Calgary Flames fan since I was a kid in the early 90's and also flipped out when we drafted Jerome Iginla's son! I hope we support our new team well, and that the Coyotes resurrect with a much better owner soon. Our first match against each other would be memorable!

@@elosogonzalez8739 Well it certainly will get people a LOT more into hockey in general. Even I stopped watching the Flames the last couple years. But now I feel a lot more excited to watch our new team. I hope our fans don't take it for granted, because this team has a good young group of high potential players indeed.

You gotta remember that at the time of the 1996 NFL draft the Baltimore Ravens didn't have branding settled until training camp. Instead, Jonathan Ogden was given a plain ballcap and jacket that just had the team name.

Being a Calgary Flames fan in Utah since the 90's, I am SO stoked we drafted Jerome Iginla's son! Too cool! This may be the first time I've had two favorite teams in the same sport. Can't wait til the Flames come to Utah! So excited!

This team had allot more time than the Jets did on their return. The Jets announced the name on draft day, and the draft picks had NHL jerseys on. No way can Utah be this far behind the puck.

Thanks, info about the sweaters that were given to the draftees has been scarce, so nice job. I also saw the video of the draftees and their practice jerseys in Park City, UT, and thought they looked sharp. It's pretty cool that the team will be practicing this season at the same facility as the USA Olympic skating teams... the Utah Olympic Oval is nicknamed the fastest ice on earth because of how many world records have been broken there!

Could be a marketing scheme. Sell as many OG hockey club merch as possible, then announce the name later for the current merch possessors to buy the new

Should compare Utah to Colorado when the Avs moved to Denver. The almost became the Rocky Mnt Xtreme.

Logo copywriting filing for the logo will leak the final name just like it did before.

I think you’re worrying waaaay too much about the name coming early. It’s ok if they start using the new name during 24-25, they just knew they wouldn’t have time to finish the uniforms and branding. In a year or so, none of this is going to matter.

The fan vote determines the team mascot so I don’t know how he would know.

I think that's a prototype just like the St. Louis Blues 1966 unused prototype jersey

This team was named Yeti(s) before the team plane's rubber hit the runway in SLC. This whole cherade of a "naming contest" is nothing more than a PR stunt to engage the fans. Armstrong also said something interesting by saying (I paraphrase) that the kids are busy voting Yeti(s) into existence. It's smart marketing for sure, but disingenuous at best...The interim jerseys being collector's items is something I've said before, but I think a lot of it depends on how the team performs while they wear them...Personally, I think most hockey fans are tired of the Coyotes/Yeti drama and would rather they just name the team officially and be done with it...

I think it wasn't a stunt, per se, more of Ryan and Ashley doing their due diligence to make sure that yeti wasn't abhorred. I think if it polled badly enough, Ryan would've switched gears, but I do think Yeti was the clear frontrunner and the direction Ryan wanted.

I’m/was a Coyotes fan and definitely going to be cheering for this team for the unforeseeable future. I just do not want to buy a jersey that only says Utah on it.

Isn’t Colorado’s mascot a Yeti?

It should be the Utah Outlaws (given the history of the region, the ties to the state with Butch Cassidy, the Sundance Kid, etc., and the easy layups for marketing, e.g., calling the superfans the Wild Bunch after Cassidy's gang, or using Jon Bon Jovi's Blaze of Glory song from the Young Guns film when they score), but knowing him, he'll make the mistake of calling them the Yeti.

I voted for Venom. Yeti is lame. If they pick Yeti, that will dampen the mood for me. I also think it is lame that they are not building a new arena. They are going to reconstruct the Delta Center. Not really sure how they are going to do that with the Jazz and the NHL team using the arena first at least 6 months of the year.

I think all the players should wear skates in the color & shape of Ashley Smith's shoes.

So, Utah Hockey Team wants to be given the moniker of YETI, a mythical Himalayan Abominable Snowman? I would think they would want to be "Warriors". After all what is the root name of Utah? The UTE Indian tribe. A tribe of fierce warriors. I think the Ute, Paiute and Shoshone Indian Tribes in Utah and Colorado would approve. If Chicago can be the Blackhawks to pay homage to a fierce indian tribe, then Utah can be Warriors to pay respect to another fierce group of aboriginal people. Go Ute-ahh Go!

Kraken are folklore in the North Atlantic, by Norway and Iceland, not Pacific near Seattle, so that won't matter, I like Outlaws or Swarm, as they are the Beehive State

I like Outlaws or Swarm would be a good one, the Beehive State. Yeti in Utah is the same as the Kraken in Seattle, the Kraken is folklore in Norway in the North Atlantic not North Pacific, so that won't matter
