Will Smith was amazing at the scrimmage - he was the number 4 pick last year. Celebrini who was number 1 for SJ this year said "I'm glad I don't have to play against Will Smith anymore." - best complement a number one pick could give to another player imo.

Mike Grier's recent moves and changes to the lineup should make a difference and bury last year's results in the distant past. I think this new Sharks team has a chance at playing .500 win per centage hockey and winning many close games or shoot outs. Injuries could change the prospects, but Sharks should get rookie of the year trophy new year to start the positive trajectory. Pay attention to the NHL stats on how many 18 year olds and nineteen year olds play on regular rosters (it is probably going to be about 10 total), the Sharks could have youngest roster in NHL this year if Musty also makes the team. Grier is looking much smarter than he seemed last year with changes that made Sharks last in league standings.

.500 pt percent maybe (and very unlikely imo) but win percent is a pipe dream. Looking around the league there are no teams I look at as definitely worse than the sharks. I don't think we will have any huge L streaks but we will probably still be bottom 5. Also for Calder idk if we have the favorite with players like mitchicov, huttson and some others in the race. Of course smith and celebrini should both have a good chance as well

I hope Musty stays in the NHL. Smith and Celebrini are now here and he had great chemistry with Smith. He’s ready. He’s too good for the OHL and he can’t go to the AHL so let him learn and develop in the NHL with the other prospects.

@@Me-eq3sg Wouldn’t that burn a year of his ELC though? They can play him 41 games and send him back to juniors but they won’t save that year the way they would if they send him back after 9 games. So at that point you might as well just keep him in the NHL.

  • @Me-eq3sg

@teknicalmadeit with Carlson they played him more or less every other game so that he could be around the team get nhl experience and spend extra time in the gym. It will burn a year but to me this is better than the ohl for him and if he's not quite ready he won't be expected to perform every night. I don't think they should care too much about burning the year odds we are competing for the cup 4 years from now is low and at worst u have an extra year where u are paying him

Here’s what delaying 1 year to playing in the NHL does or would’ve done for SJ: 1. Physically get bigger, can’t understate how important this is for teenagers who run up against grown men. 2. Delays ELC by one year and allows #1 👆 to happen. Staggers the contracts that will be given to Smith and Celebrini. The rest aren’t important or going to be important than one and two. Sharks will still be bad next season. I would have loved to seen Celebrini win at one more level. He struck out in the Frozen Four and at WJC. AHL is an option for him and Smith to learn to be pros. But time will tell if he even needs to be with the Cuda or not. Mike Grier had said that when he was with the Devils org when they drafted Jack Hughes, he wished Hughes started in the AHL first before getting ransacked by the NHL in year 1. With the recent player acquisitions made by Grier I’m starting to think this may be the direction. There are lots of vets on one way deals currently signed and once room opens up at trade deadline, we could see the kids play. For those that don’t remember, Logan Couture went this route and it worked for him.

Good for him, but he better be ready to get checked because Conor bedrard got drilled this year. Cellibrini can't pull what he did when Nick capone from uconn went for a check and cellibrini ducked to avoid it. And Nick Capone made contact with his head so cellibrini put himself in that position. Also, this is good for all the teams in hockey east except for bu!
