    One thing that i find helps me a lot, is a good net game!! I see you find it hard to go to the net, and it's much easier to finalize point fast, if you are confortable there!! I would advise you to train those shots. Since you're fit and fast, you can surprise going up fast on the net, and finalize easy point, instead of being on the baseline waiting for the opponent to miss, since you don't have great shots from back there.. I find you played much better in this game, that in some previous, more deep shots, and more regular on the serve ( not so many DF) !! cheers

    Great set y’all! Really fun and entertaining. Strengths: Winston- great adjustment to start hitting to Matt’s backhand, got more consistent throughout the set, and made him earn every point Matt- that forehand is a 4.5-5.0 level any day, really aggressive with that shot and earned you a lot of free points Room for Improvement: Winston- a lot of balls you’re hitting off your back foot instead of leaning in which causes weaker shots or mishits, and keep working on that serve. Also I feel that the footwork can be improved as sometimes you get a little flat and settle for so-so backhand slices Matt- keep working on that backhand and having confidence in it! Your strength is your forehand and if you’re going to want to hit more of them, cheat towards the backhand side to set up for more of them

  • @RogerThat902

    @RogerThat902

    Жыл бұрын

    Agree. I think Winston hits a lot of shots off platform that he could drive if his footwork improved. You can see how it limits him vs. better players because they smash those almost every time. While the players on his level or below either have an unforced error half the time when they should be points 90% of the time.

    The 4.0's forehand is actually really good ! I hate making comparisons but it looks like Diego Schwartzman, and it has a lot of depth and penetration. But his backhand is a setback. His backhand has no drive, is a bit loopy and doesn't pressure you winston. He needs to work on his backhand. Also, his serve is very rolling the ball in the court with spin. Not much pace and not much free points on his serve. If he lifted those two areas, he would be a very challenging player to beat. But I'm super impressed by that forehand and the change of direction with court penetration from him, that's why he's only a 4.0 and not higher. It might help if he got some coaching to help his backhand and serve. I was rooting for him the whole time, and hope he improves more.

I noticed particularly on the ad side when you want to kick the serve out wide to pull your opponent of the court you tend to decelerate with the racket. This was a great set! Quite even, except you’re more consistent and more focused on forcing errors from your opponent through deep ball placement and varying your shot direction. Matthew has an incredible forehand but can get stuck in a tricky position on his backhand side. What would you consider your weakest shot is? I think it’s the same as my weakest shot, the overhead. I always have the exact same timing issue that you seem to have, that made me very unconfident with that shot which made it even worse. The best advice I got is that overheads are all about committing to swinging fully and swinging fast. Hesitating or not fully committing to the shot will cause you to miss, mishit, or hit a weak overhead often. If possible, I always let the lob bounce first because I think it’s much easier to time because the downward speed is slower after bouncing because it lost a lot of that initial acceleration from gravity and how high the shot was, usually leads to less mishits. You’ve really improved your serve consistency and forehand pace and consistency. I can see how much better you’ve gotten at shot placement, keeping the balls deep, and playing really smart point construction. Awesome job, keep it up!

    matts forehand is great. I know what wrong with his backhand. many times he his first step is with his right foot, so when he hits the ball the weight is already on the front of the body, no power. also this set up allows for smaller hip action. he should step with his left foot first and then the right, and then push with the left and lean forward, therefore he will get extra power from the hip closing and body weight transfer.

On the serve he is losing some pop with his arm movement, the racket is too "fry pan" instead of going up fast with the edge so he is loosing some mph there. 3 months of work and he can be 4.5 in my view

    Winston...take some serve lessons or watched some youtube videos on how to serve. Your serve looks like 3.5 level serve, but with your size it is basically a 3.0 level serve in terms of efficiency. Actually, given your size and strength which is at least a +1 point in advantage, your tennis skill is about 3.5 level...netting you a 4.5 Congrats on being 4.5 if you are, but gotta work on that serve and other aspects of the game. For as much as you play and with your size you should be a strong 5.0 at least.
