You don't need any fancy equipment to dry in the microwave. I use any heavy, microwave safe dishes , 1 tuned upside down. I put paper towels down to soak up the water, both below and over the flowers.

This fall I saved hollyhock seeds. I dried the flowers and then placed a dried petal in each seed packet so I could see the color each plant would be. My friends I shared seeds with appreciated seeing the flower color they can expect when the plants bloom.
Good morning all. That letuuce looks delicious.

Love how you whispered when you took the flowers out of the microwave. Like your babies just waking up. You’re the best, Laura.
We used all my enormous nursing school theory textbooks to press a large number of native wildflowers gathered in our pasture and around the county, to make a wildflower book for my daughter's 11th grade biology assignment. She collected, dried and mounted the dried flowers on white linen paper, labeled them with their scientific name and then being the art student that she is, used colored pencils to sketch an illustrated picture of each flower before inserting the pages into a clear document sleeve and putting them in a binder. She got an A.
I remember I used to microwave flowers with my nanna when I was younger. She’d put the flowers between paper towels or old tea towels, (100% cotton). Then she’d put something heavy on top and they’d come out pretty much the same as yours :) memories xo
You Miss Laura are awe inspiring, God bless you for all you teach us. At my age I am proud to say you are keeping me a sponge who loves coming to class. My husband & I can't wait to share some of the things you've taught us with our children and our little granddaughters. 💗💗
LOVE the microwave flower press! This will be a great addition to our childcare, as you know tiny humans have a short attention, so to see a finished product so fast will make our future projects much more enjoyable and rewarding! We grow our own flowers so it's a full circle education component.
I kind of chuckled at the "first taste of spring" comment Laura made 😂 The first day of Winter was December 21. It has only been winter for 3 weeks. There is still plenty of winter to go! But I feel you, the recent string of a little bit warmer weather has been really nice recently and has definitely encouraged me to get outside more. Love your videos, the grass box you have going is looking great!

We had a speaker at our garden club who taught us to use Viva Paper Towels (they are plain with no ridges) inside of a phone book, topped with heavy books to press. Works great!
A quick way I used to dry flowers when I wanted to use them right away was to use my regular iron on my ironing board with lightweight fabric and tissue paper. I am glad to learn a new quick way using my microwave! Thank you for showing this technique!
☕️Good morning everyone. Anything green looks so inviting and brings about that longing for springtime here in the Midwest with snow on the way. Thank you, Laura. Enjoy a safe and happy day everyone 🌱🌷
So beautiful and fun! I don't cut my flowers from my garden cause of my double trouble kitties will eat them. Now that I just bought my Microwave Flower Press Kit today I can enjoy making these and give to family and friends. 💜🌺🌸Thanks Laura for sharing and the inspiration!
Thank you Laura. Please post pics of how the dried artichoke blooms turned out. Happy Day
I can imagine Benjamin and Samantha in decades to come reminiscing over how their parents grew them an indoor lawn once, such a fun and endearing memory.
Your pressed flowers are so beautiful! Have you ever thought of publishing a Garden Answer Pressed Flower book with photos of layouts? I would definitely buy it! Now that would be a fun project for you if you had the time since you have an artistic eye 🌱🌺🌹🌸🌻

After discovering your chicken coop video, I then watched two other videos you have created. Thank you for producing quality videos with terrific information we can all use. I grow flowers in the garden; however, I have never dried flowers. I will in 2023. Thanks for the inspiration and information.
Wow, I'm very impressed!!! Drying flowers never entered my mind. A lot of fun projects, Laura you are so awesome. Thank you for teaching us this fun project. A lot of 💜 coming from Arizona. Stay safe everyone
I absolutely love the pressed flower idea to frame and hang on the wall. Easy to change up every season if you wanted. So my husband is looking at me as I watch this and is going to make me a press how do would we have saved in the garage. Every time I watch GA, he looks at me knowing he’s got either a hole to dig, potting soil to pick up, or a craft to assist me with. I love all the ideas thank you so much for your inspiration.

When I saw that beautiful wood tray with all the flowers you just processed , all I could thing about was arranging them in the tray and covering w a thin layer of resin ….. what a beautiful thing to serve drinks/tea with !!!! Thanks for the great ideas!!!
I didn’t know this even existed. How fun! Can’t wait to get one. Who knew you could microwave dry flowers, except Laura of course?
Did anyone else think the back side of the microwaved flowers looked pretty neat too? I loved the green stem as a center! I’ve never found pressed flowers very appealing but this microwave method is fantastic. Thanks for introducing it!
Arranging some of the flowers and greens in a nice design on the wooden trays. Then you could cover them with resin/epoxy, would make beautiful serving trays. So many options with dried flowers. And definitely a fun project on a gloomy day!

Hi Laura... How fun it would be to watch you build a ❤️ "Fairy Garden Town" ❤️ in your "Bed Of Grass" after your little picnic. Wouldn't the kiddo's just live it? They could move the "Fairy's " and little wheel barrows and so many other movable items, to different areas. Like an outdoor play yard/ play town. Roads, walk ways that leed to so many magical garden patches for the collected fairies to discover???
Great way to start the morning watching this!❤

Wow Laura……. This is so cool! I always learn something new from watching your channel, and have learned so much throughout the years watching! I for one cannot wait for the update and see what you might do with all those beautiful dried flowers/leaves. MAYBE a beautiful spring wreath? I don’t remember if you did a video on the salt dough ornaments,? but would love to see one? I wonder how poinsettia flowers 🌺 and leaves would look dried? So many options! As far as remembering to do a update, maybe you can keep a journal of the projects that you do somewhere where you can look at it everyday and check them off as you update? Thank you for sharing, I really enjoyed this video! 😊
Wow! That is CRAZY. The microwave press was so fast and easy. This changes things for me. I have never worked with dried flowers because they take so long but wow! That little raised bed of grass looks perfect for a mini fairy land - with a few bonsais and winding pathway and Laura’s creativity with creating miniature fairy gardens…that space could be turned into a really cute mini garden.

I love to press flowers with a bunch of books that I have. Then I lay them in two pieces of plexiglass, like the one you have in the chicken coop, one on the top and the other in the bottom so the flowers look like they’re floating. It looks gorgeous, you should try it

Love the microwave option for drying flowers. I attempted to dry flowers from my mom's funeral with the conventional dryer you have there and they didn't turn out at all. I was heart broken. But, this microwave process looks great. I'd think, if the thicker ones were flat, but not completely dry, you could then put them in the silica sand to finish getting the moisture out. Anyway, loved seeing the comparisons🌸🌼🌺🏵

Good morning. Oh love this process, I just found a framed piece of dried flowers I did years ago! I need to get the micro press as they don’t get as flat when you use other items. I will be doing this again with store bought flowers. Love it.
I just ordered one for my friends bday and one for me. Thanks so much Laura. I was using glass Tupperware to weigh it down in the microwave but that only works with small flat flowers. I’m so excited!!!!! I love learning new things from you.

I think this would be a great supervised project for a children's art class. On it! Mother's Day is around the corner! Hugs from N.C..❤️ P.S. Happy early Birthday to Benjamin!🎂🎊🎈
This was so fun to watch! Excited to see what you will create with them. I was a big time drier of flowers in the 1970's using silicone or pressing in thick, weighted down books. The anticipation of their outcome + how they turned out was like opening presents. Well, they were. Presents from nature! Thanks as always for sharing! 🌸🌼
