As a little girl my Grandmother and I would always pick and press flowers from her garden. She just passed away a couple weeks ago. I think I know what I am doing today...picking and pressing flowers from my garden to honor her. I have some bright fusia impatients and purple salvia that will be perfect. Thanks for the reminder of something so very special to me.

I loved watching this! I was raised in a flower garden-loving family. Years ago, I picked flowers from my mine, Gram's and Mom's flower gardens, unbeknownst to them. I pressed and preserved the flowers and arranged them in 5 X 7 frames for them for a gift. When they passed away, their frames were placed in their caskets with them so they could have flowers from our gardens with them forever.

Back in the 70s, pressed flowers were a hot crafting item. I put them on colored honeycomb wax sheets instead of paper. I still have one left that has had a place in my decor for over 40 years. I used vintage frames so if it was vintage in the 70s, it is an antique now!

In my mind (because I'm way too lazy to actually do this), I can imagine making a calendar out of this, somehow swapping out the center piece each month with a vignette of the new month's plants, leaves, flowers. You could frame the outside with a swappable frame that has each flower/plant/leaf around the center, with the botanical names and short description of each object. The best part is it's a high-personable calendar because everything in it came from your own garden. Nice, Laura. Very nice.

How sweet/delightful your video! Loved it. I spent weeks 30 some years ago pressing pansies and Johnny Jump Ups to adorn the envelopes of my son’s wedding invitations and envelopes. I pressed them I big books between tissues. No computer then to look it up on how. I followed the idea out of a simple child’s craft book. I used a spray glue to attach them instead of Alene’s. Years later my grandson found one of the pressed flowers in a big encyclopedia book . It was still beautiful. He put it in his girlfriends Math book as a surprise w/ a note, and when she found opened up , she was surprised right there in the classroom. Thanks for the video. Wish I had known about a flower press then!

I said this on another of your videos this week, but it holds true here, too. You remind me a lot of the Martha Stewart shows from 25ish years ago. Those were my favorites and she did so many pretty projects, including flower pressing, as well as gardening and everything home. That is when I first did flower pressing, so maybe there was a "Martha" for my mother's generation, too, but she was it for mine and now you are the new "Martha ". :) I know how much your mother has influenced you and I bet she remembers the early Martha Stewart shows like i do. Anyway, i love that you are filling this role for those of us who have missed it. xxx P.S. I wonder if your mom also remembers the Aleene's crafts shows? Aleene is the maker of tacky glue and she and her daughters had a crafts show, too.

I started pressing flowers this past spring and have watched a ton of tutorials. I think yours is my favorite ❤️❤️ I love when you talked about how the process makes you feel, because that’s so true and exactly how it affects me❤️You also kept it simple and uncomplicated. Thank you so much🌸🥰🌺

Your pressed leaf/flower picture is gorgeous 💐👏 I remember as a kid we didn’t dry leaves but painted them and then pressed them on paper to make cool leaf prints. Thanks again for being inspiring 🙏

Is there an instructional video on how to use your flower press?

About 25 years ago, I made pressed flower prints for Christmas gifts for a lot of family members. I used mainly herbs, though, and they turned out so pretty! I did like you, arranging them by piece, I even dried leaves and stems separately then re-constructed them on the paper. I still have mine but now they are faded and look like antique dried flowers!

I love this project so much! I think a flower press is going on my Christmas Wish list...until then, those old text books collecting dust should do the trick!

How inspiring. I’ve recently started pressing flowers again and have used some for homemade cards, believe it or not I still love sending handwritten letters 😊 I’m off out to pick some heuchera leaves now, hadn’t thought of using them before today. Thank you!
