Adam I had a feeling that it was only a matter of time till you figured this out. :) When I saw John Barker's stinger using a single color, I knew you had to be working on doing this with an image. Way to go !

Each method is valid. I can’t make use of John’s method because I am already using most of my media still slots. And, I don’t have enough free inputs to use the HyperDeck method either. My MixEffect method works better for me as long as I am not using both of the DVE or Flying Keys for something else.

I really want to install the application and use it. Can you send me a link to the version of the app that suits me?

@@user-cl4mt7zj5q Unfortunately, MixEffect requires iOS 14, so it will not run on your iPad. I recommend an iPad that has at least an A10 processor. A12 or higher will give good performance. The lowest-specced iPad that can run MixEffect is an iPad mini 4 or an iPad Air 2, but the performance won't be that great.

I have been evaluating Titler 5 and I have to say, I am very impressed with the integration and control it has over the ATEM and it's keyers via IP, live data via google sheets etc. The only thing I don't really like about it is that M1 support is only via Rosetta at this time and it's very processor intensive on my 2020 Macbook pro. Got me to wondering, with iOS being so good at graphics, how hard would it be to have graphics module within MixEffect?

Hi Adam. Like Edward, below, I have an interactive pannel behind my desk. I have 2 cameras, one in front of the desk, the other one pointing to the interactive panel so when I walk to it, the panel and myself show up. I have the streamdeck on my desk (I also have the atem extreme), I activate the panel camera and walk towards the panel. How can I achieve the following with mixeffect: 1) I want to have another smaller streamdeck near the panel such that while there, I can change to a supersource, or full panel view, or me next to the panel. Those buttons would be part of the mixeffect overall setup, all I am doing is taking a subset of those buttons, like 4, get a smaller streamdeck and only program 4 or 5 buttons while I am next to the interactive panel. 2) My main streamdeck is the XL, for the panel, do I need to buy another XL or the smaller one would be fine since I only need like 4 buttons next to the panel? 3) How would I attach this 2nd streamdeck to the whole system such that it reads mixeffect settings? 4) Is adding this 2nd streamdeck the easiest and most effective way to implement this setup? Thank you in Advance Adam.

Companion can have multiple Stream Decks attached, so the second Stream Deck would be pointing to a different page which, if smaller, would have a subset of buttons. Those buttons would call the same MixEffect Companion/OSC instance you're already using, so nothing new to configure. Another approach is to use Companion's mobile web page and use an iPhone or iPad at the panel. That way you don't have to buy another Stream Deck.

@@AdamTow This is great Adam, thank you. I like the idea of the ipad or iphone, but then, how will this iphone/ipad with companion have access to the presets made available by the mixeffect? The main ipad is already on my desk using mixeffect. So I am refeering for the one that will be by the panel. Will this ipad (the one by the panel_ be connected only via wifi to the same network or does it need to be connected directly to the computer? Thank you Adam. This setup will be ideal for me.

@@jimpiterson4052 You will create buttons in Companion that tell MixEffect to use a SuperSource Preset. Then, on the iPhone/iPad #2, you'll go to the Companion Mobile Web Page URL to see the buttons. If you want, however, you can also just run MixEffect on the secondary iPhone/iPad. If you do this, note that the selected SuperSource Preset in MixEffect is a per-device setting. So, if you set a preset to be active on iPad #1, it won't be selected on iPhone/iPad #2 in the presets toolbar (the SuperSource Preview will update properly on both). In both cases, the secondary device needs to be on the same network as Companion and/or the ATEM.

I just purchased the 30 trial. I love the app, but I am having problems. I can not add media to my ATEM Mini (just the mini) at all with my iPad. When I do the app disconnects from the switch, then reconnects and no image is uploaded. After dozens of attempts one image did upload, but I haven't been able to upload another one since. Any idea what's wrong? I restarted the iPad. Also the app will often want to "Reconnecting to server". Other than that the app is working as expected. Macros, Apple Shortcuts and animations all seem to work fine. Shortcuts are slow to run though.

Couple of things with image upload. I recommend being on a hardline connection (instead of WI-Fi) if you're going to be uploading images. Also, pay attention to the size of the images that you're trying to upload. While MixEffect does attempt to resize the image to 1920x1080, it sometimes has problems with large images. Which iPad are you using with MixEffect?

@@AdamTow Thanks for answering Adam. I'm using the 6th gen with 15.3.1. I tried using images 1920x1080 (compressed), but that didn't help. The whole purpose of using the iPad is so I am not tethered by a cord. I don't know if it's a memory issue or ? Also every few minutes or so the app displays "Reconnecting to Switcher". This happens continuously. I rebooted and have all apps closed except MixEffect.

@@TonyLiveTV The 6th gen iPad is a bit on the older side for the processor. I have noticed that some iPads have flakier Wi-Fi than others. For instance, my iPad mini 5th and 6th gen seem to have more resilient Wi-Fi than the 2018 iPad Pro 12.9". What kind of Wi-Fi router are you using? I've also noticed that the brand of router you have may make a difference. How far away are you from the router and do you know if you're connecting via 2.4 or 5GHz? Do you have an iPhone and does it exhibit the same connecting/reconnecting problem that the iPad is showing?

@@AdamTow I have the ASUS ZenWiFi AX Mini,Mesh WiFi 6 System (AX1800) & I’m less than 50 feet away. I don’t have Wi-Fi connection issues, but for some reason MixEffect drops or loses the connection with the switch. It reconnects quickly, so why does it lose the connection? That’s the mystery.

  • @AdamTow

From a technical perspective, the ATEM and MixEffect make use of a UDP connection to communicate. If there’s even a slight disruption in the comms channel between the two, the connection will drop. This is why you’ve been seeing the constant connect and reconnect. Question for you. Do you have other devices that are connected to the ATEM such as Companion or ATEM Software Control. Can you temporarily disconnect those other connections and see if MixEffect and the ATEM stay connected more consistently? If MixEffect and the ATEM are the only two things speaking, I suspect it might be the router that you have. Would you be able to swap it out for another as a troubleshooting step?

Hi Adam! Quick question. How can I use your app and the elgato pedal to change among supersources? I have an streamdeck too thanks

  • @AdamTow

    @AdamTow

    2 жыл бұрын

Companion doesn't yet support the pedal. If you can find an OSC module for the native Stream Deck software, you might be able to send an OSC message to MixEffect: There's one called OSC Remote, but it might not be able to send all the command parameters to MixEffect.

Thanks for the response Adam. I was really hopeful This is the situation I am in: I have a camera in front of my standing desk. A few feet behind me I have an interactive white board to teach with. When I walk to the whiteboard I wanted to press a button on the streamdeck to seamlessly transition to the camera pointing to me illustrating on the whiteboard, then I would press the pedal to transition to the camera in front of the desk as I walk back to it. What other ways do you think I can accomplish this? Having something on the floor to trigger it would have been amazing. Thanks again.

@@edwardrodriguez611 The OSC Remote module for the native Elgato Stream Deck software can send the Auto command to MixEffect. I tested it myself, so I would start there. Are you using separate mics at the whiteboard and desk? You could also look at using my Video Follows Audio feature to perform an Auto transition when you start talking at the other mics.

@@edwardrodriguez611 If you're using the native Stream Deck software from Elgato, you need to install this plugin: apps.elgato.com/plugins/com.animapix.oscremote Then, drag a Push button from OSC Remote onto your Stream Deck interface and configure it with the IP address and OSC Port settings defined in MixEffect. The IP address is the IP address of MixEffect, NOT your ATEM. For the "Address" field, enter "/mixeffect/auto" (no quotes). For this command, leave the "Value" field blank. Learn more about how MixEffect works with OSC here: docs.mixeffect.app/automate/osc/enabling-osc-in-mixeffect. For a list of all the OSC messages MixEffect supports, read: docs.mixeffect.app/automate/osc/messages Mind you, the instructions in the docs assumes you're running Bitfocus' Companion software to control the Stream Deck, but if you're just using the native OSC Remote plugin for Stream Deck, follow the instructions above. I have other videos on my channel that go into configure MixEffect to with the Stream Deck via Companion.
