Using Freemcboot Memory Card with a Modchipped Ps2

Just a quick video clearing up a question I get asked all the time
If you want to get fmcb working with the hacked browser you can install an older version of FMCB like FMCB 1965 or 1953
Various Matrix options (Hold at console boot)
Triangle + Circle - Matrix Config Menu
Circle - PSX / DVD mode (Forces ps2 to play PS1 or DVDs)
Cross - Forces the system to bypass settings
Start - Disables the chip - Must reset the console after. To re-enable you must place the ps2 into standby mode (red light)
Select - Fast boot Ps2 Games
R1 - Boots a homebrew elf file from first memory card (mc0:/BOOT/BOOT.ELF
L1 - Boots a homebrew elf file from hard drive if installed (hdd0:/__boot/boot.elf)

FMCB 1965 and 1953 work perfectly with a modbo 5.0 (even the osd browser) only the latest version does not work.

Perfect. This is exactly what i need. Installed a Modbo 5 and IDE Resurrector and homebrew just loads a black screen.
If you have one of the later 9k models with a modchip, you can launch fmcb from a cd rom. I used to do this all the time as a kid to play games from usb

You can do that now with freedvdboot
DEV-Modes are depreciated, because they lack proper system initialization and hence cause issues in some games.
I have a slim PS2 77004 PAL and I'm still wondering if it's worth mod chipping it. I really wanna solder a modchip but I'm confused with the mod chip choices. I see you have a MarsPro on your site, is it any good? Or would the Matrix Infinity be better? And do all mod chip behave like this together with FMCB?
I lucked out with a 90002 that works with FreeMcboot. I prefer the 9000x series because of the built-in power supply. But the 7000x is objectively superior because it still has the IDE interface so you can add an SD-card mod.

Quick question, do you think having a hard modded PS2 will increase the compatibility of games played through FMB?
Whoever said that modchipped ps2s can't run homebrew, they need to sell their consoles and forget about gaming
Do you by any chance have more matrix infinity 2.0 in your store for sale.
are these matrix v2.00 modchips good? I had back in the day the same ones with v1.99 and they were crap. They didn't save the settings, it would crash and never say "settings saved".
I'd like some more indepth explanation about the PS1 compatibility mentioned. I plan on playing some burned PS1 games on a chipped PS2 (fat) for the hardware backwards compatability and would like to know the best way to go about it. It's a V9 and I got a Picfix otw. Won't play discs untill it's installed, just to be safe.

If your console is NTSC-U, just flash mechapwn, Don't choose the force unlock version. You'll have Ps1 and Ps2 region free as well and Ps1 backup support. For NTSC-J v9s-v13s Mechapwn acts wonky, I've heard that people have mixed results with PAL as well.

@@Cellsplitter yeah can force pal or ntsc with a modchip. Sounds like you’re going to want to chip it to me.

Does this also work for FHDB?

2:58 Rather around 15% which automatically boot it. FMCB works on ALL PS2s, but automatically booting doesn't work on BOOT-ROM 2.30.

Maybe I've been lucky but when buying lots from japan, consoles that boot fmcb are pretty common.

@@mrzero3082 It isn't a "BIOS", but a "BOOT-ROM"... It can be replaced with an older BOOT-ROM in theory, but not with your modchip...
