Using Bassline Generator in more traditional Pop or Rock songs (feat Tiger Scientist)

Музыка

We’ve been blown away by how much amazing music you’ve been making with Bassline Generator. So much so that we wanted to share some of it with you. We asked some of our favorite producers to explore the new Bassline Generator and share the results with you. Here’s what they came up with.

I would love this generator concept to be adapted to the Dual Arpeggiator!

This is my favourite way of using the players. It's so quick and easy to generate starting ideas.

Couldn’t agree more! If anything I wind up generating more good ideas than I can make use of haha, which is a nice problem to have

19 minutes and the only thing I learned was how to copy patterns. WORTH IT. Don't know how I've been missing that this whole time. Thanks.

@@tigerscientist4941 I just subscribed to your youtube channel Have you ever thought about doing tutorials using Reason for music production and the type of music you do ? I actually got good clever ideas from this video, like for example using the Bassline Generator as a midi output. (you can tell I am no Reason expert)

I just picked this up this week and immediately used it in a track im working on. I. Working in Ableton and I wanted to just drag and drop the midi out and was disappointed it couldn’t do that(At least as far as i could find) . I dropped in a bass instrument and found the patterns i wanted then duplicated the track for my Sub. The biggest problem with this is the cpu hit I’m taking by having to have multiple instances vs just some midi data. Ill have to try recording the midi onto another track if it outputs the midi data too. That might be a workaround. Overall i think its inspiring and easy to use. I hadn’t considered using it for strings but had thought it might work for another instrument too. Nice to hear and see the different uses you found for it.

thanks for watching! you can route the output of the bassline generator track to the input of any other MIDI instrument and this will let you record the output as MIDI data as well

@@tigerscientist4941 ok. Id read on a reason forum that wasn’t working but hadn’t tried it. Good to know. Thanks

I tried using it as a midi device and its wonky. I tried to geti t to control two basses(mid and sub) and it would only play one if it was selected. I then tried by making a duplicate of the device and for some reason it wouldn’t work. Its a little buggy in Ableton at the moment. I just upgraded to Ableton 11.1 so that could have something to do with it. I ended up recording the bassline on a midi track which worked fine and then duplicated that over two devices.

Yes! You can have it output MIDI data so that you can trigger sounds in any plugin/synth you like - routing will differ by DAW but its similar to setting up something like Cthulu or Thesys
