Used and abused Ridgid Wet/Dry Vac gets a new lease on life...

Yet another Ridgid thing in my garage? This is becoming a pattern, but for good reason. Ridgid may not be the "best" brand out there, but they sure do build some tough stuff. This poor old WD-08000 vacuum was rescued from the junk pile via a "free" listing on Facebook marketplace. I was told that the lid didn't latch properly and that all of the casters were gone, but that it supposedly still turned on.
After getting it home, it became clear that although it needed a new filter/filter nut and a very good cleaning, it would work just fine. It also became clear that this thing was used to pick up a TON of dirty water with the float seized in the bottom of the cage; water was able to make it all the way up into the motor intake and had been shot through the fan and out the exhaust. I'm willing to bet that the P/O thought it was cooked because of that, but the motor and brushes looked to be in fine shape.
Overall, this old vac cleaned up beautifully and will make a great addition to the garage - and for less than $25 in parts, I've managed to score something that I've needed for quite some time. Not too shabby!
