since you mentioned the parallel issue front and back, tell us - how to problem solve that as well. I think the major flaw in KZread videos I see is that they describe the Perfect Scenarios. Click, pop, drill and done. But the vast majority of people are facing issues that they don't know what to do with it. Talk about common mistakes, measurement mistakes or what to look out for. How do you measure properly. etc etc. That is what makes KZread videos much better

I have been putting a big drawer into a planer stand I made out of scrap wood and I cannot get the drawer to close easily. It acts like it binds or it is too tight. I will go back at it tomorrow, but, you are absolutely correct, it is frustrating when you measure, check level, measure again, drill…and still not get it to be seated correctly! 🤬 I am using Richelieu soft close slides 24”.

I used a square horizontally in the two rearmost corners of the cabinet. Then along the rails on each side. I then employed a level down each mounting rail, then diagonally across both rails. I then measured rail bottoms from the cabinet base in all four corners. I marked and made adjustments. I noticed the right rail was 1/4" lower in front, and a "washers" width out of alignment. I inserted a 1/2 washer between rail and cabinet. That made it slide smoother but left a little free play. I'm still figuring the soft close mechanism. Hope that helps.

Yep lately I've been including the difficulties in my videos because hardly any project goes "by the book".

Im so frustrated. The slides i got from amazon seem too thick or maybe my drawers are an awkward size but theyre uneven and somewhere theyre rubbing. Ive pulled them out and pulled everything apart about 3 times now. Im so close to taking a hammer to the whole bathroom vanity

Yikes, sorry to hear. I feel your pain. Seems like a lot of projects go that way. Hang in there. If you get the big hammer out you will surely regret it. My advice - walk away for a day or two and cool off. Wait until you’re on a better state of mind and try to look at it from a new perspective. Second thought - ask someone you know that is moderately handy to take a look. Sometimes despite our own skills, a second set of eyes on the problem can go a long way. Good luck 👍

I’ve been looking for this style soft close slides. My drawers are only 20” but the cabinet is 23.5”. I need the front and rear mounted slide, just like the ones you use in this video. Would a 22” slide be the proper size for me to use, even though they would be longer than the drawers themselves? Most things I’ve read said nothing longer than the drawer but I’m afraid a 20” won’t reach far enough with the rear mounts and would only be holding on the mount by about 1/4” or less.

If your cabinet is 23.5" inches deep I would thing the 22" slides are what you need. In my case, the top drawer shown in the thumbnail is shorter than the others since there is an electrical plug on the side of the cabinet, and I still used the 22" slides....the mounting bracket in the back should take up the extra space. I would suggest if you are unsure, get one set of slide and do a test fit to make sure they are the right ones, then you can adjust from there

I found the builder did not keep the mounting tracks level and at same height. Also the slides were not centered and appeared to be not squared. Lost one originally installed slide when i t eventually came off track (tough to slide for 2 years, but got worse). After I squared and leveled I still can't get the new soft close mechanisms to work. It's a kitchen waste can drawer. The brackets were mounted about 7-8" above the cabinet base. Should they have been mounted lower?

Good question..I honestly don't know. I would think that as long as they are level/parallel it shouldn't really matter how high above the base they are...unless the weight they are supporting it causing them to twist? Also, check the soft close mechanism...I have a couple that sometimes become detached from the rail on the drawer and has to be pulled out so the rail can re-engage it...maybe that'll help...hopefully

How many problems you had so far? These slides are a nightmare. Drawers definitely pop out of those brackets. A lot of resistance with them when first pulling open. Drawers have to be perfect conditions for them to work. I could go on and on. Under mount is is night and day better. Zero problems and they don’t need perfect conditions to operate. They can compensate for a lot. Side mount soft is trash 🗑️

The only problem I have had with them is the occasional soft-close mechanism failing to engage. That resistance at opening is the slide pulling the soft-close mechanism, and there's a "clip" that occasionally fails. I haven't had any issues with them coming out of the brackets.
